Probably one of the best Safeway locations I've been to - just because of how clean and organized they are. Personally, if a store offers a lot of good produce, it's a win in my book. There's plenty of parking in the plaza as well. Self-checkout was easy and it's nice that they always have a service member standing by to make sure that you get the help that you need. One thing I noticed consistently with Safeway stores is that some items are inconsistently priced. Like some items on the shelves would list a certain price but as soon as you get to checkout, they are more expensive (even after putting your rewards/phone number) so you have to flag down a cashier to manually change the price. read more

Best Safeway out of all! Very clean, very organized, everything is always in stock, all employees are always friendly and knowledgeable. Separate huge "Thank you" goes to pharmacy - very, very good people work there. I'm very thankful to ya'll! Safeways prices are absolutely insane. They are overcharging us the customer on everything that they sell. I cannot believe that people continue to get ripped off by this over priced garbage that they sell. It has been proven that Safeway stores over price their products and we allow it. Love this Safeway on the South Hill! Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff all over the store and it's always been well stocked during my visits. There is a Starbucks inside and the floral department never disappoints when you're looking for an arrangement or bouquet for a special occasion or just something small to brighten someone's day. The produce section is pretty standard but the items have always been fresh and high quality. The parking lot can get a little slick in the winter and they could do with some improved plowing and salt but I'll keep coming back for cleanliness, variety and availability of products, and fantastic staff! read more

We placed an order for a flower bouquet for homecoming 2 days ahead of time. When we arrived at our designated pickup time we found out that it hadn't been made yet. We waited for almost an hour without a finished product. We witnessed another highschool student come in for his flowers and also told that his had not been started yet. The store is clean and the meat department people are friendly and do a great job. Prepare to spend 20 minutes or more to check out. I've never seen a slower check out process in my life. On 57th in Spokane. If you live in this area and you live south of 57th, then this is your closest grocery store and your next closest is on 29th. Albertsons is one of the largest grocery chains so wherever you are in USA you can probably find one of these. On the whole they are all fairly similar with little to distinguish Albertsons from Safeway. This store has a good sized parking lot. No gas station attached. Pharmacy usually doesn't have any line. Produce section is usually well stocked. Organic selection is quite good. Fairly good ethnic food section. Overall, you'll get what you need here at a reasonable price. read more

This is a convenient grocery store on the South Hill. If you shop their coupons, the prices are very competitive, particularly the Just For You ones. However, you have to be vigilant at the check out and watch the prices carefully because not all things ring up correctly when on sale! Plus, the seafood department always has a rather unusual smell (just different from what I would think should be there). Since Albertsons merged(?) with Safeway, you can use either app to load the coupons. Did I mention that I hate coupons? But to get the deals here, you gotta use them. read more

New layout? Please go back to the old layout. This one is so confusing, everything is mixed up and unorganized. The old layout was organized with food on one side and home/hygiene items on the other. I end up coming here a lot even though I've got a Safeway and Rosauers within blocks of my house. It's more expensive but the selection and service are better than average. The shopping experience is typically relaxed and pleasant, and the store is clean and orderly. read more

3rd shopping trip in 3 weeks where the milk case was bare. Unfortunately this is more often the case than not since Albertsons became Safeway. Brought ample bags of my own yet the bagger felt the need to add 3 more bags to bag my groceries. 1 bag of chips in 1 bag?! WTF?! After 14 years of shopping at the same location which was great when it was an Albertsons, I am done. I am sick and tired of coming home from my shopping grumpy because I had to make another stop for milk. F- COVID STORE. I have been in this store every week since the pandemic began and invariably there was one or two people not wearing masks and you know they are young enough not to have a medical condition. When speaking with store management today, I was told that corporate has a policy that they don't require masks because of Hyppa. This is a crock in the stores unsafe. I will discontinue shopping there and they have lost a 25 year customer. read more

My store - drive past Safeway and Rosauers often to come there. I can comparison shop with anyone and on the typical grocery, not more expensive at all than any one else, and if you watch for sales, cheaper. "My" grocery store. I know where everything I want is located. Staff is super friendly. When they say they intend to keep the restrooms clean, they do just that. That's kind of my standard for everything-- If restrooms are clean, that's a big indicator that the store is operated at the appropriately high standard. I see the manager almost every time I go there. He's working, interacting with customers and staff, and checking things out. That's my kind of guy! read more

Yes, I am yelping about an Albertsons. Mainly because I'm bored, and also because I just love this place that much and they dont have near enough reviews. There is not a single thing bad about this store that I have yet to find. The customer service is amazing. Cashiers are fast and super friendly as are the deli people (though I do blame them for recommending one of their paninis and having it become a new addiction of mine). Most of the time in most grocery stores, management or people doing orders/inventory (example; have the handheld guns scanning stuff) won't even look up at the customers, it's very different here. I think about 95% of anyone I passed, greeted me. I normally go to chains like Walmart or someplace a little cheaper to do my bulk shopping, but sometimes good customer service can change that. Always very friendly! Everyone that works there greets you ans generally seema like they are eager to help. The deli and meat section is a hoot and once again, super friendly. You have to be really careful when you shop here. I have found too much food expired. Dates are like weeks after expiration date on package, the shelves are dirty, some items sticky and dirty and not always very clean. It is the store close to where I live but I am starting to go much further for quality groceries. I do like that the staff is very nice and always helpful and if I like I can check my own items out which is appreciated. I use to go quite often but I have to switch stores before I get food poisoning from expired foods. read more

The employees are always friendly and the bakery is decent. For a Spokane grocery store they have a decent selection of natural stuff. It's always clean and it's always open. Other than that, there isn't a whole lot to like. Prices are OK; to get the deals you have to sign up for their rewards card with it's unnecessarily complicated rewards program. I don't need a two foot long receipt when I walk to the store to buy 3 items I need to make dinner. The checkout lines are always slow. And I mean glacially slow. Slow as frozen molasses. Between the too-chatty cashiers and the fossils from all the neighboring retirement homes who always write checks, there's little hope of making it through one of the normal checkstands before your next birthday. The self-checkout is usually even worse; people take whole carts of groceries through there and most people have no idea how to use the simple checkout machines. The produce is all over the map. Some is excellent and some is awful, and it seems to depend more on random chance than on what's in season. Don't even bother stopping in the meat department. Prices are high, and all pork products are Hormel. Gross. I shop here more often than I'd like because I live less than 5 blocks away, but I usually try to get my shopping done at Yoke's or Rosauers on my way up the hill after work. read more

We used to live near this Albertsons when we lived in Spokane, what a joke. Every summer, they had this instant win game, and I won $2 instant cash, so I went in there to redeem 1 day, and they said, I didn't win money, I won $2 off the bill. I had to get to work, so I bought a items and left, turns out they were wrong, and it is actually illegal to do what they did. The manager of the store, according to several employees that used to bad mouth him at the check stand, used to work 4 days a week, never a full day, so he could go off and golf. The checkers had no idea how to ring up sales, handle coupons, poorly trained staff led by a poorly trained manager. This place was constantly running out of items, no matter day of the week it was. One time, there was an employee talking about stuffing chocolate down her pants on the floor, I gave a description to a supervisor, they did nothing. Dirty bathrooms, lazy employees, truly the bottom of the barrel of that awful place called Spokane. Also, I found a piece of plastic in a donut, so I brought what was left of it to the store, and Willie laughed and asked why did I eat the donut? The plastic was discovered as I was almost finished, avoid at all costs. read more
