One checker on a Monday afternoon. Inexcusable. They want you to use self-check.

I live in the Big Timber area for the summer and fall and have been to Albertson's many times as we do not have a major grocery store here. I would recommend that you go to Town and Country and avoid Albertson's or better yet, go the extra 45 minutes to Bozeman. T and C always has 3-4 checkers working, people who seem to like their jobs and are personable. Generally speaking, the store is understaffed at the check stand. That is my main complaint. Also, a number of the checkers are checked out...I was in on a Monday. The checker, a young man, did his job but said nothing to me and didn't offer to put my 220.00 worth of groceries in the cart. Please see the photo. There was one checker at 12:15 pm on a Monday. I assume everyone was " at lunch."

For someone local, or on the way to Yellowstone Park for camping, who doesn't want to drive into Bozeman and searching for organic and fresh, seasonal, local produce, Food Works is the place to go. In addition to the usual grocery items and miscellany, Foodworks has bulk products, something that was particularly interesting to me, as I have been searching for some organic cornstarch. It's surprisingly harder to find than I expected. Here it was. The manager explained they sourced from Austria. I can't say I was expecting that -- but okay. Also available daily are ready made sandwiches and soups that don't appear to stay available long, so come early.

For such a small store, this local grocer packs a punch!!…read moreThey have a LOT of what the average health conscious food connoisseur might be looking for and more! Raw organ meats, organic in-season produce, medicinal herbs, artisanal bread and chocolate are just a few treasures one can find here at Food Works. However ..my FAVORITE thing of all at this store is the selection of ready to eat meals. In particular the egg salad and curry chicken bowl. Truth is, since I moved here, I have been slacking on my usual meal prepping and healthy eating and thus have been craving something tasty and packed with nutrients. The chicken curry bowl was that perfect blend between absolutely delicious and knowing my body is going to love me for this. Ps. *Parking lot is TIGHT!! My truck felt the squeeze coming in the parking lot for sure *bring your reusable bag!

I have nothing but great things to say about the Gardner market…read more I was hesitant to go there because everyone said it was so expensive but I found the experience delightful. I wish I had gone there earlier in my stay just for the ambience lol. There are many things to question about Gardner Montana ;)However, the Gardner market was not one of them. Everybody in there was so polite and friendly. I couldn't believe it. Every time I asked for something everybody was incredibly helpful and there were some really nice ladies that were just totally friendly. The store is stocked to the brim. It has everything, at my hotel they were saying oh you won't find sunscreen or cream there but you know what they had every possible sunscreen and cream available!!! I was able to go there toward my last day and get things that I really needed like water and some sleeping pills since I was in a hotel that was very noisy! I would highly recommend the Gardner market to anyone and just remember when you're on a vacation things are more expensive because people are trying to make money in a small town so don't hold that against them. I love that market and if I lived in Gardner, I would shop there no matter what.
