the shelves of a grocery store
    Suzy J.

I really like how this store has a lot of sale items to offer on different items. I saw tons of sales throughout the store. We were even able to locate some seasonings for super cheap. They do have a section with masks, wipes, and hand sanitizer for under $2. Some were 2 for $1. It seems that they are trying to get rid of all the overflow from Covid. Albertsons has a rewards card that can be used to buy groceries or gas. You can sign up at the register to start owning points. There were some sales that were cheaper through the use of the rewards.

Expiration date and quality of fruit

Just moved to Kuna and have been to this location a handful of times. Never had any issues with any of the produce thankfully, and the staff has always been very friendly. However today my husband went out to get a fruit tart from the Albertsons bakery today for me, his pregnant wife. And they sold my husband a fruit tart that does not look appetizing at all and when I looked through the fruit it actually had mold in it. I am unfortunately unable to make it back to Albertson's to return the fruit tart so that is why I am posting on yelp. Just a forewarning for all to actually check whatever you get from the bakery because clearly the staff does not take notice to possibly inedible food.

Prices are kind of high but your paying for quality goods and a clean store, plus the majority of employees are friendly

For the past month, we've been purchasing produce Onions, Broccoli, carrots, etc...and when we get it home and start preparing it we realize it's bad...cut into the onion the center is brown though it appears fine when we bought it...broccoli covered in brown spots up near the crown where you can't spot it until your chopping it up. We cook daily in our house so we're buying fresh FREQUENTLY. It's really frustrating when we have to make another grocery run and go somewhere else for better produce as Ridley's is 5 mins away compared to the other options and we've wasted an unfortunate amount of money thinking it was a one off issue on produce we couldn't use and had to toss. This has become a consistent issue we aren't seeing at other shops. We've also noticed the supplier selling them cilantro is mis-labeling Parsley as Cilantro which is visibly hard to notice, but smell/flavor wise is quite obvious and frustrating. Overall once we realized this was a consistent issue we stopped buying produce at Ridley's which is a real bummer. It's become a situation where we go to Ridley's for everything else BUT fresh produce.

I've accepted the fact that you have to bag your own groceries here but sometimes it can feel more like a chore because your racing to bag it super fast when you've got people coming up behind you. Anyway one thing I've noticed.. they don't carry zyn or any nicotine pouches. I've come in here recently for more items that are not obscure items and most stores carry them so I was surprised winco didnt. The good. They've got a lot of bulk items, wide aisles, plenty of parking and very clean bathrooms. The not so good... everyone working here seems genuinely unhappy and depressed. People are completely zoned out. Produce is not very fresh. I stopped shopping at Walmart because their produce is so dismal and often spoiled. I could not find any good russet potatoes while I was here. I hate their coupon system. You've got to click on an obscure icon on the pin pad and then be 100% sure your coupon matches because once you clip it on the app you can't go back and see it.

Natural Grocers was the OG. Before Whole Foods, Sprouts, and before the Boise Cooperative, it was Natural Grocers. It's a great story, look it up and read about Margaret and Phillip Islely, their $200 bucks, and their dream. I've visited several times, and while it may still have a following, it gets lost in the ever-expanding sections of your traditional grocers. It wasn't long ago, that you would NOT see vegan cheese in the cheese aisle, or plant-based meats in the meat section, but now they are there, whether it's something you eat or not. The vegetable and fruit section is smaller than the Co-Op at the Village but sometimes it's good to have a second chance. The vitamin section as well as the community hang-out section to the right when you walk in should not be missed. One thing that often gets missed is that some shoppers see these grocers as vegan or vegetarian. While it's true that they stock vegan and vegetarian items, they also have organic meats and meat products. If you're looking for organic, grass-fed meats and such, check out Natural Grocers TIP1: Check out their website as it has a bountiful amount of information about Sustainability, Deals, Recipes, Events, and more. Natural Grocers is located on Milwaukee in Boise, across from the Home Depot, and is open most nights until 8:30 pm excluding Sundays.
