I looked for one online and found Thomas J. Lavin. When I called, I told the person I had an accident and needed someone from their field to advise me on what steps to take regarding the accident. I read online that he is a very good lawyer and very famous as well. I assumed I would be taken care of incredibly well because of the reviews I read. I was very pleased because I was able to get an appointment quickly. I made an appointment with Mr. Lavin and went to his office. When I walked in his office the first thing that happened was that it was a bit of a wait. The office was claustrophobic. When I finally was seen, it was like a maze to walk to the office for the meeting. When I made the appointment, I made it to see Mr. Lavin and someone else spoke to me. I never saw Mr. Lavin. The person explained the procedures and what would happen, and I was quickly asked to sign paperwork. I didn't have any experience with no fault and lawyers, so I signed the paperwork. I trusted them and that was my first big mistake. I should've asked additional questions and instructed them to include me with all decisions. The procedure was as if I was blind-sided. I was never told what was going to happen or what was going on with the lawsuit, never given copies of what was the settlement for, never received any calls regarding what was being offered and if I agreed. They never consulted with me. After waiting for less than a year for the conclusion of the case, I was called in to Mr. Lavin's office (never met) and was given a check for $4000. Meanwhile, I was hit by someone texting, had my one year old son with me in the car and, the person that hit us, was at fault for texting while driving. When I saw the amount on the check, I asked the assistant what happened, why was the amount so low? She answered that the check was low because it was due to the fact that it all went on copies of the paperwork they needed! What paperwork, what copies?!! This was my first accident! I never received a copy of the check that the other insurance issued for the settlement or copies of anything. I never knew the settlement amount. I only received a check of $4000. I don't understand the laws of how lawyers operate, but this situation smells fishy. Why isn't anyone aware of the scams these lawyers are pulling off? Why isn't the judicial system investigating these scammers?! They're making millions and contributing it to having to get copies for the cases. I surely learned my lesson, to ask questions and not trust anything anyone tells me. Worst experience ever! I was robbed!

I didn't have to contact them to find out the status of my case, I didn't have to do the leg work of getting my own medical records and following up on deadlines, their team did all of that for me. They constntly kept me in the loop, asked me everything they needed to know and explained to me everything that I needed to know. I met with the attorney and constantly spoke with the staff, everyone paid close attention, made me feel safe and gained my trust. They advocated for me all the way to the end, I was very pleased with the results and happy that I chose this firm to represent me.

After calling 3 attorneys prior to my closing, I decided to go with this attorney because he was…read morethe cheapest, and I was already bogged down with tons of related expenses. I think the old adage "you get what you pay for" applies here. I can't complain about Joe as a person, because he was a nice guy, but his office was pretty disorganized, and I had to take the initiative to reach out numerous times to get status reports and updates rather than his office keeping me apprised. Also, at the actual closing, he sent some random attorney that I had never met before without even giving me a heads up that someone else was going to show up to my closing. It really wasn't appreciated right before the largest purchase of my entire life to that point, and I just stood there like, "who the hell are you?" until she introduced herself. Last thing that turned me off was that literally the day after I got the key to the house, the ceiling collapsed from a roof leak that the owner lied about, and when I called him to ask him for his assistance, he basically told me that I should call a litigation attorney, but that it wouldn't be worth it and there was nothing much I could do about it. That very well may have been the case, but for an incredibly distressed first-time homebuyer facing an emergent $20K repair the day after buying the house, it was a very not-compassionate response. This was my first closing, so maybe all real estate attorneys handle the "small apples" cases the same way, but I definitely got the sense that I was just one faceless, nameless person for them. Personally, I would not recommend this firm.
