They have a good international section with not only sauces and international processed foods but also raw foods. They even have yellow pea flour! What I really like about this place is that they have a wide array of organic products. I love my organic breakfast cereals, my favorite being plain rolled oats, and they have them here at a very decent price. They also have a bunch of Stevia products but you should always read the list of ingredients to see what kind of crap they add to it. It's all well and nice to say "100% natural", but so is feces, heroine and cocaine. So if you're health conscious enough to buy Stevia products, then also be wise enough to read the ingredients, as well. The place also has a bunch of Soma brand breads. Soma mostly makes those dense and mushy ryes and sourdough ryes. I emailed them to ask if they used any form of raising agents in their products and they let me know that all their products are 100% free from artificial raising agents and that they only use natural yeast and cultures as such. I'm not gonna cover every single category of what they sell but they have all the major brands and then some. So if you live nearby or if you know another Jumbo, give it a go!

It must have the best selection of spices and grocery type stuff on Kanaalstraat. They have an extremely large deli area where you can buy dolmas, hummus, olives and other stuff by weight - and it's excellent. They always seem to have a good variety of produce and prices are reasonable. It's not the cheapest on the street, but it's worth it. They do NOT have a butcher counter like most other stores, and they are not open as late as the other vendors .

Yes, dragging, I don't really find Kanaalstraat all too interesting. We used to have a few shops that we frequented that have now gone that I didn't mind going to. But this shop, this one I even volunteer to go to! My dad loves to find some of the stuff that we buy in Israel and can't usually get here and quite frankly, I do too! I must say that the shop has lost a little bit of it's charm with the redecorating they did last year, but it does look a lot neater and it means more room for the gigantic assortment of nuts they added, including chocolate covered nuts. Mmm... Other than that, the shop has a nice array of cheeses, high quality fresh produce, lovely snacks and ingredients that you just can't get at a Dutch store and also a lot of different pasta's, pulses and sweets. The only thing I can't quite figure out is why the store is called Perse Polis and it says to be a Persian grocery store. My dad being a chatty Cathy of course knows his vendors and these guys are Iranian! Oh well, I'm not sure it's even a mystery that I want to solve. ;)

The croissant was equally great, very buttery and flakey...perfect compliment to the great coffee here. First I thought the new Marqt will be small, but it is actually had 3/4 stores! They even have a cooking island to let customers try their new products. They have so many great and fresh assortment of products like high quality of sea food (and yes also oyesters), great salmon packages of Steur BV (highly recommendable), awesome cookings, cakes, salads etc. The opening of also awesome and it was almost like a Rolling Kitchen, but than inside Marqt! They let me taste so many great things that I almost didn't need to have dinner anymore 8) The highlights of my tastings were: - Meatball which was BBQed in a green egg - Indonesian stewed beef with rice - Jopen beer (yes it is the first time that they sell it via Marqt) - 2 different salmon of Steur BV, soo yumm! - Cold meatball with crunchy bread inside - Red wine with bubbles like champagne - Great icecream So if you live in the neighbourhood, pls do check it out! However, please do keep in mind that they are a bit pricey and they only take pin, which means no cash when shopping in there. The Marqt has a chain of stores located all around Amsterdam, so if you don't come across the one on Ceintuurban, then I am sure you will stumble across another one. They also have plenty of to go meals to grab for lunch or dinner. Also make sure to try the New York Cheesecake, it is the best dam cheesecake in Amsterdam.

Honestly I could shop here for hours but it's kind of tight (even though it's huge for Amsterdam) and during Corona-times, I keep it a bit short even wearing a mask. But geeze, I wish I could eat and cook more because everything is so good in there. What a gem to have in the buurt! Lot's of help if you need it. They are always stocking shelves. The frozen food is probably the same high QUALITY stuff the restaurants sell (but warmed up or cooked). I worked in Hong Kong for almost a year so I was hesitant when I saw the name "Hong Kong Superstore"...I don't know if it's more Hong Kong or mainland China, but who cares, it's great. The cashier could be a little more friendly but maybe it's because I don't speak Dutch and/or Cantonese! Prices are great. Not the kind of place you would visit as a tourist, but they do have non-food items which you would only find in a "Chinatown" type area. Keep in mind, this is not the Chinatown in Amsterdam, so it's quite unique. If you're staying here in a place with a kitchen, go for it and make some Asian food for dinner!
