It is exclusive, only for gluten-free breads,pastries, and pizza dough. Open it and grab 2 apple pies because you will wish you would have bought 2 instead of 1 and also buy 1 gluten free pizza dough, it's better than the one at Alberjein that taste awful. Also once you get home with it, then put it in your oven or microwave to defrost. It taste amazing, it will melt in your mouth. The selection is solid: good produce, decent bread section, all the everyday basics covered, plus some fun seasonal stuff that somehow ends up in my basket every time. The store is generally clean, organized, and easy to navigate -- no maze-like layout designed to test your patience. Location-wise, it's super convenient for Watergraafsmeer, whether you're walking, biking, or driving. The workers (mostly young kids) were not helpful and were more into talking to each other (typical high school workers) like I said I don't know how things work in the Netherlands but I expected their customer service to be a bit better. But prices are chip at this grocery store and it seems to be a local favorite.

Now over a decade and a half later Albert Heijn to go seems to understand the amazingness that is the ready made, pre-packed sandwich and offers quite a wide variety. Luckily for me also quite a few (good!) vegetarian options. Other than that it's a good place to grab a quick snack, drink, lunch or even meal (salads and sandwiches) when you're on the go and want something delicious and fairly healthy. I have to give a lot of love to the Marqt. I was really impress with their Gluten Free section. You will find a wide selection of Gluten-free Items. You name and they got it! The prices are fair and reasonable as well. The Marqt is one of the largest retailer of natural and organic foods in Amsterdam. For me there's nothing like the taste of organic food. I love spending my Saturday afternoon shopping for fresh produce and learning about new recipes and herbs. After, then having lunch or a cup of tea at the cafe upstairs. What I love about living in Holland is that they provide a lot of natural and organic products to its purest state. It's so nice to actually have the pleasure of tasting the authenticity of the food. Plus this is the ideal place to shop for quality and organic meats. A lot of their products are free from artificial additives, sweeteners, colorings, and preservatives. As I walked around the store I noticed prices were very reasonable. As a traveler I've find it easy and fun to check out local markets and what they have to offer. This place did not disappoint. On a side note, right outside they have an open air market in the plaza. By the looks of it, it was there everyday. I saw it as a added bonus. Fruit stands and everything else you can ask for. It is in a good location, close to residential quarters as well as other smaller cafes, businesses and a metro station. The store was mostly clean and was reasonably well stocked, I only came in looking for a bottled drink, I did originally struggle to find where they were located within the store, but was able to find one without requiring assistance. Unlike most Albert Heijn locations, this store does not appear to accept Apple Pay and the staff members seemed unaware of this. I later found this out at another Albert Heijn store after having a similar payment issue. It would have been so much easier if the staff members here were aware of the issue, or if it was explained to me at the point of the payment being declined, to avoid my time waiting in multiple queues to unsuccessfully purchase a drink. I tried to pay for my shopping at the self-service checkout with Apple Pay and was told the payment didn't go through with no further explanation, after unsuccessfully trying to pay on two occasions, I asked the clerk working the self-service area who seemed unsure, she came over to me, before leaving me waiting and going to another customer, she eventually told me to go to a manned checkout, where I faced the same problem. The clerk at the manned checkout simply asked if I had any other payment methods, to which I replied "No" The selection may be good but the service is inadequate and I notice through other reviews the issue with the staff being unfriendly and unhelpful has been going on for a while unfortunately. 2*

But often I also miss a lot of products in those smaller AH's. So I spend a while searching for a bigger Albert Heijn which has a the products and not just the standard stuf. The annoying thing is that you cannot find this on the website, the site only tells you if a place is an AH-to-go, a normal store or an AH XL. But after a little search I found this Albert Heijn! It's quite close to my apartment and they have everything I need, it is much bigger than most locations! Definitely my favorite AH! :)
