The store definitely has it all....it is freaking packed with everything you want (except most non-frozen perishable foods). Honestly I could shop here for hours but it's kind of tight (even though it's huge for Amsterdam) and during Corona-times, I keep it a bit short even wearing a mask. But geeze, I wish I could eat and cook more because everything is so good in there. What a gem to have in the buurt! Lot's of help if you need it. They are always stocking shelves. The frozen food is probably the same high QUALITY stuff the restaurants sell (but warmed up or cooked). I worked in Hong Kong for almost a year so I was hesitant when I saw the name "Hong Kong Superstore"...I don't know if it's more Hong Kong or mainland China, but who cares, it's great. The cashier could be a little more friendly but maybe it's because I don't speak Dutch and/or Cantonese! Prices are great. Not the kind of place you would visit as a tourist, but they do have non-food items which you would only find in a "Chinatown" type area. Keep in mind, this is not the Chinatown in Amsterdam, so it's quite unique. If you're staying here in a place with a kitchen, go for it and make some Asian food for dinner! read more

I actually found out about this store from an expat colleague who is of Chinese-America heritage. I was bemoaning the fact that I had to trek a fair bit away to go to the Japanese Supermarket located in Zuid, when he told me about this shop, which is located an easy 20 min walk from my house. So made plans on the weekend to come and check this place out as part of my weekly grocery shopping. It was easy to find the store and I was super impressed by how well laid out the grocery aisles were. And they had a medley of all sorts of Asian cuisine from Indonesia to Thai, Korean (although I couldn't find fresh kimchi) Vietnam and even Indian. Love that now I can get fresh lemongrass and kafir lime leaves locally. Prices were also definitely cheaper than the Japanese supermarket, but I didn't like that so many of the products that were made in China had MSG (or a variant) included in the ingredients- so def check the labeling before purchasing. Btw, the stock of Asian sauces was great and there's a whole back wall dedicated to the varieties. I am most excited about my purchase of a rice wine vinegar made in Italy as well as a Tom Yum sauce packet. They didn't have the Singaporian Laksa brand that I like, but the lady at the service counter told me to bring in the empty packet and they will consider ordering that brand. It's a little chaotic in here but what do you expect when you try to cramp a sampling of Asia into such a small space? I spent the first 10 minutes of my first visit just walking the aisle to get an idea of how things are organized. This is really a good stop for the majority of your Asian cooking needs - even though finding what you need may be a challenge. The location is excellent. The prices are decent. Not as large as Wah Nam Hong (http://www.yelp.com/biz/wah-nam-hong-amsterdam-3#hrid:f9WKCrLg8LLpnDkxftJswA/src:self) but hey I can bike here and the prices were comparable if maybe a few cents more. This will definitely be my go to place for tofu as they have a decent selection of firm, silken, deep fried, etc at reasonable prices. For Filipino yelpers, they have toyomansi, datu puti, pancit, mamasita mixes, and other good stuff. read more

This is definitely a great addition to the Kinkerbuurt and the Oud West neighbourhood. Prices for some of their products are slightly more expensive than the Tokos in Chinatown, but they also carry products that are not found in other shops, such as brown rice noodles and a good selection of grains and lentils. My disappointment/complaint is it will be great if the shop is somewhat tidier. The freezers were so packed full of stock that I can't even find the banana leaves I was looking for. The lady that runs the shop came to help, but even she had to rummage the same freezer a few times before she triumphantly pulled out a packet of banana leaves. Also wish the same lady will talk a little less on the phone while serving customers at the check-out. Perhaps it's teething problems considering they are only open for about 4 months. I don't have a ton of experience with Asian grocery stores, and this is my first one in Amsterdam even though I know I've walked by a couple of others. This is a tiny store with a lot of product. Noodle and sauces are king here! But there are some vegtables and frozen items, along with extracts, ramen packets, hair products and more. I was hoping for more fresh produce, but I only found a little bit. Great spot on Kinkerstraat and really easy to get to! read more

This place is incredible. It has a wider variety of ingredients than some Asian markets in the states, and had ingredients I had a hard time finding outside of Shanghai. There's a fridge section with a handful of produce (lotus root, green papaya, Chinese broccoli, Thai basil, galangal, etc.) and tons of different spices, sauces, and canned/frozen food. Amazing selection and unlike other tokos, the lovely owners of the store, Ton and Jen, will do their very best to order it for you. They have a unique and huge selection of Vegan seafood, chicken and meat substitutes in the freezer, priced at around 4 euro 25, you will need to save the packaging to reassure your vegan dinner guests that it isn't really chicken, crab, shrimp, beef or pork! They stock products from China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, , Malaysia the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, West Africa and more... Be prepared to spend more than you had intended to, they have so much great stuff and often products that no other store stocks....Like Gynostemma/Jiaogulan tea or fresh Asian Pennywort, aka Gotu Kola. For a first visit, Saturday is not really recommended, unless you go early, crazy busy, that's how justifiably popular this store is.
