We stayed at Hotel D'Albe for our honeymoon during the second week of June. When I was looking for a hotel in Paris, it needed to have the following attributes which Hotel D'Albe had:
- clean/modern rooms
- air conditioning
- a shower
- white bedspreads that are washed with each new guest...
- affordable since we were spending the majority of our money on expensive dinners and shopping
Some pluses of the hotel were: very close to a taxi line area where you can always find a taxi fast (important if you are late for a dinner reservation...you have no idea how hard it can be to find a taxi in some areas of Paris), blackout shades, elevator, a comfortable bed, umbrellas for the hotel guests to use if its raining, decent blow dryer, a surprisingly spacious and smart closet space (it fits a lot of stuff and there is room to fit a couple suitcases in a storage area separate from your clothes), the AC was very very cold which we appreciated, the area around the hotel is vibrant, they have a grocery store across the street to buy water bottles from, it is in a good central location and we walked to most places during the day, I emailed the front desk to make all our dinner reservations for us a few months ahead of time.
Some cons of the hotel: the wifi is free BUT you have to re-sign in every time you come back to the room and if you stop using the internet for a minute you have to sign in again, its very frusterating. The toilet is in its own enclosed space and its teeny tiny, so if you are very tall, you will have your knees against the wall if you are sitting down, I'm not sure if that was just our room, but maybe you should talk to the front desk when you are booking about different options. I would have liked to have an option of having my sheets changed daily, they didn't provide one of those cards, and I'm not sure how often they changed them...The hotel is hard for taxis to find, so circle it on a map before you leave for Paris and have that to show the taxi driver since they won't recognize the street name.
Overall we were happy we stayed here because of how economical it was and it had all our necessities of a hotel room on the list. Not many hotels in Paris could say the same. read more
