The food is SO good, the beans are so delicious and the rice is nice and fluffy. The portions are a little small unless you get a platter, but they're still amazing. You pick a seat anywhere and sit and when you're done eating, you go up front and pay. It makes for a very nice, low-social setting. Everything is super cheap, I paid for two full meals for my boyfriend and I for only $24 (without tip-- I tipped $10 because the staff is super nice and the food is amazing.) There are varying refill policies depending on what you get- Pepsi products are on tap so they are free. They have horchata, lemonade, and bottled drinks; these are not free per refill if I remember correctly. The drinks are actually pretty large though, so I personally didn't have an issue. Best huevos rancheros I've had, the eggs are cooked perfectly and the sauce is great, definitely packs a punch so if you're not a fan of spice I wouldn't recommend. The prices are very good and the serving of food provided is perfect. The salsa is so good and they provide this complimentary with chips when you walk in. The menudo is definitely worth having, perfect serving and they give you a good ratio of hominy and meat to soup. The restaurant itself is small and cozy and the staff is friendly. The wait time for food can vary depending on the day. I've come on a Saturday and waited almost 30 minutes for my food but I've also waited as little as 5 minutes on a Sunday. Definitely a little gem worth visiting if your in the area. I'm rating a 4 because I've only had a couple of items on the menu but I will definitely be back to try more. First of all i judge a restaurant by their unsweetened tea. If they have good tea, the are usually peti pretty good. The tea sucked. The chips and salsa was actually really good. Service was bad, but they were very busy on a Sunday at 11, so i wouldn't complain about that... As for the food, my husband had the chicken enchiladas with green chile; flavorless. I don't think they seasoned the chicken all. They didn't put enough green chile sauce on it. I had the tacas el carbon. No flavor on the meat at all. Rice was bland. Beans were okay, but no cheese on them. Guacamole had absolutely no flavor, just a soupy mess. My husband thought since they were packed that maybe they are one of those places that you have to order a certain thing and we didn't pick the right thing. We will not be coming back. read more

Albas is that place you go to when you know you want great home style cooking that never disappoints. The Menudo is the best I've had in the country and I've eaten it everywhere. When you order eggs over medium or easy you get the eggs you ordered. The staff is consistent, attentive and friendly. The price is very reasonable considering how fresh the food is. I recommend the menudo, Round Hotdog (Hotdog served in a hamburger bun) and their Huevos Rancheros. I love this place and come when I'm in town for work! read more

Do not waste your time coming here..you come in and just stand around no one offers to seat you or tells you to just sit wherever... they just stare at you from behind the counter while they wait on others... stood and waited 10 minutes no one ever greeted us... what I assume was the manager just kept standing at the back looking at us then she finally walked to the back... so we left..Bottom line... Sunday moring looking for good meal to hit road for 11 hr ride back home. 1st choice closed, search brought us here. Very helpful, friendly waitress. Table ordered chilaciles verdes (green) /rojos (red) and menudo. Rojos good but flavor of red chile overshadows the eggs (i had chile rojo enchiladas day before, different place and its just a powerful flavor, for me more fitting for enchiladas). Verdes were really good. The sauce was fresh, eggs scrambled nicely and white cheese melted on top. Ive had menudo many times and this one was top 3 for me. Very clean, full of hominy/pansas. Fresh onion/cilantro/lemon juice added more color/flavor. They have mexican oregano on tables. They serve menudo with "francesitos" which are small bread rolls, toasted with butter on grill. Very good. Would go back. Seems they have regular customer base for breakfast. Very welcoming. read more

This is the worst service I've ever received! No one greeted us nor sat us at a table until we asked. The server told my partner he could not get menudo without the meat, told us they had no salsa when they did. We asked 5 times for salsa and chips. The server was anxious the entire time running around and pressuring us to order quickly. This is our first time coming and we will never come again. read more

The waitress was on her phone the whole time she was serving us we had to ask to have our drinks refilled 2 times before she refilled them. The food was bad no sauce or anything and when I asked if they had mild salsa for the chips she looked at me and said no it's not even that hot. Excuse me but that's poor service, being a waitress I try to understand when the service is bad but we were one of the two tables that were there and the other table couldn't get her attention either. read more

Wow! This is the worst service I've ever had. I have never been so annoyed. The people lied about not having salsa and chips as they were serving the table next to us chips and salsa. I honestly thought they were joking. My food didn't come till 45 min later and I ordered menudo which takes maybe 10 minutes max! I'm very disappointed with everything. The servers were running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
