What a nice little guesthouse!!…read more Staying at Homelea is like staying with friends. You feel completely welcome and at home. Dave and Linda are friendly, chatty and extremely welcoming. The rooms are small (the single room VERY small!) but clean, tidy and well appointed. The hot water pressure is pretty poor, but that aside I cant really fault the place. There are only 3 rooms - 1 single (with private but separate bathroom), 1 twin with en suite and 1 double with en suite. Unlike many such places, guests are welcome in the main lounge, which is also the dining room. here is TV in the lounge and in each room, coffee/tea making facilities and free wireless broadband. Single room is £25, Single occupant in the twin room is £35 and double occupancy or the double room is £50. Breakfast is a choice of cereals, fruit juice, tea or coffee followed by toast and a nice full English! There are plenty of eateries very close by (I'll be reviewing one of them shortly!) and it is handy for the NEC, Motorcycle Museum and the Arden. To be honest, this is a cheap and cheerful guesthouse, which is far more cheerful and nice than you would expect for the price. I have stayed at more expensive places locally which have been terrible in comparison. I cant recommend the place enough, and will definitely be staying there again!

Hair Dryer. Tea / Coffee. Nice Cookies... Fantastic ... I have a pet hate for non en-suite hotel rooms. The room in the Central Guest house I was in was not En-suite, I had to go across the hallway to a shower room, which at first made me squirm. It was exclusive to me. Which was a relief. The point I want to make is. Don't be put off by a non en-suite room. Its not as bad as it seems. It was a pain to run across the hallway in the middle of the night, desperate for No1 & No2. Just made it.. Reminded me of a movie I watched with Jodi Foster. Having to lock one room to run across the hallway to open the other. (Yes I had to lock my room and unlock the loo every time). (In the end I just left the loo door open.) It was exciting and scary..... I was worried in case I bumped into anyone lurking in the shadows. Sadly no lurkers ! ( What a shame. I was kind of looking forward to some midnight Mania). On the whole. I enjoyed my stay and would do it again. Recommend this Guest House. The owners are a great source of conversation, Very friendly. It is only a three mile Uber or bus ride to the university and there are quite a few nearby restaurants. A major complaint is serious lack of outlets in the room, and none near the bed. The walls in the hallway look terrible and needed repainting a long time ago. I had a light dinner (Mezze plane) in the restaurant and it was not very good.

If you are a runner, there are prenty of great joggin paths (You may want to run by the castle...great XC course!) This location is very convinient to visit the old castle, downtown kenilworth, or even Coventry (I'm glad we didn't stay in Coventry...people warned us about it, and my colleague wasn't too happy with the Holiday inn express there...) I didn't care for Starbucks, but oh well, it's convinient. Good wifi connection, TV was brand new flat screen. Cofee maker and free frat bread (yeehaa) Front desk was hit and miss - one guy was SUPER nice, drawing map and telling us where to go, etc. The other lady was...well, kinda lame. Compare to the "original (reads as USA)" Holiday inn, this location is probably better in many ways, good service and very updated rooms.

We were in Kenilworth for a friend's birthday party and we couldn't have wished for a more home-from-home experience. Liz (the owner) greeted us when we arrived and made us feel very at ease when we explained we were in Kenilworth for a friend's party and wanted to know if the front door would be locked at a certain time. She assured us we could come and go as we pleased and come in as late as we wanted! This made for a really relaxed and assured stay. Rooms are really reasonably priced with a double or twin - £55 and a single - £36; both including a tasty cooked breakfast with locally sourced sausages and bacon (all cooked admirably by Derek, Liz's husband!). We enjoyed breakfast in the bright, traditional dining room and it set us up nicely for a day exploring Kenilworth until lunching later with friends. Authentic, warm, welcoming and within walking distance to town. You couldn't wish for anymore from a good ole British B&B!

There is a separate kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom and hallway closet. The kitchen hosts a full ability to cook with microwave, cooker, oven, refrigerator and freezer. A small washer dryer combo is in the kitchen as well. Dishes, cups, utensils for 4 folks are provided. I stayed here so I could shop at the open market and visit tourist spots during the day and easily visit family in the evening in Solihull. The central bus station is down the street, so it's convenient to grab the coach at Heathrow to here and if booked well enough ahead, it only costs about $10 for a 2 hour bus ride. Two train lines are within walking distance, easily within 3 minutes. Major shopping stores are Selfridges (visible from your room), Marks and Spencers, and Debenhams. If you do a lot of sewing, a visit to the Silk City store is a must. A lot of the street noise is dampened when you close your windows and doors in the evening. The rest can be eliminated with decent ear plugs. There are warehouses nearby where work begins at 5 am. Wi-fi was included but it wasn't always working.

Walk around the corner past the Aldi's and pick up a bus to Birmingham. Breakfast can be added at £8.25. Kids are free, so this is a bargain if you're traveling with kids. I have special diet needs, so I generally walk across to the Sainsburys. I had to buy soap, kleenex, because the room has nothing extra. They have provided liquid soap. A couple of tips 1. If you prefer a bathtub, ask for it when you book the room. I was told that half the rooms still have them. 2. The sign on the shower wall about taking care when the floor is wet should be taken very very seriously. It's like a skating rink. Stop at Poundland and buy a mat for your stay and remain safe. 3. At the time I booked, the website was a bit hinky. It would change the dates when I got to the final confirmation page. And it dropped part of my name. I booked and then modified the reservation to change the dates. I paid on average about £65 for the room.

Stayed here in a £35 'family' room for 2 nights, and its a real mixed bag…read more I 'booked' the room months ago, and specifically asked for a travel cot, and if me, the wife, and our 3 young children could stay in one room. The guy on the phone was very helpful, booked me the room and the cot, and told me we wouldn't be breaking any health & safety rules. After a very long drive (100 miles) and arriving at 2230 on a Friday night, the local area is pretty intimidating, and its not at all obvious where the entrance is (one door tucked away round the corner next to a Subway shop), we checked it to be told that there was no record of needing the cot, when I mentioned that I'd booked it months ago and wasn't very happy, the receptionist delivered the age old mantra of "its company policy, we don't allow more than 4 per room" So there I was, 3 tired and upset kids, 100 mile journey, I may as well have just turned up on the off chance they had a room. Luckily I'd had the foresight to bring our own travel cot, and the 4 per room comment was plainly rubbish as they let us stay anyway. The stairwell and lifts to and from the street to the rooms absolutely stunk of Subway sarnies, but I suppose you get what you pay for in the end.

This is quite a large Premier Inn, with lots of parking. It's situated beside a busy road junction, but the rooms were quiet enough and up to the usual high standard of Premier Inn. We ate in the restaurant as there is nothing else of note in the immediate area, and were very happy with the food. They do a dinner/breakfast deal for £23.99, and as the breakfast is all-you-can-eat, this was a pretty good deal. Free Wi-fi in the bar and reception areas too.
