Still it perseveres as one of the most popular and beautiful lakes in the state with a pretty vibrant community. Our good friends have a house on the very far end of the lake, so up until recently, there was no water for a couple years. All dried up and eerie.... Luckily the water levels are back up and they can return to their normal out-on-the-water lives, which means I can too! Our friend has seen the water levels change throughout the years, and he says it always comes back. Possum Kingdom is super festive on the 4th of July with great firework shows, and they also have diving competitions. Hell's Gate is probably the most popular natural attraction -- lots of cliff diving/jumping. The scenery is quite pretty, especially for Texas, and the stars on a clear night are bright and beautiful.

We went on a Monday afternoon, it wasn't busy, less than $20 for my family to enjoy the day and beat the Texas heat. Has a blob (giant pillow on the water where one person is at the end and the other person jumps down and catapults their other into the water), several diving boards, volleyball and basketball in the water and many picnic and beach areas. The swimming hole is a man-made spring fed lake. There's a couple diving boards (one is a high dive), a setup net for water volleyball, a BLOB and plenty of extra room for swimming. Plus I was told they are going to add a couple big slides for next year. Beautiful scenery and lots of places to get shade (with tables) for picnics or cooking out. Bathrooms are nice with a small shower (shower could use a little upgrade but it was suffice for its purpose). Friendly owners and staff. Overall great place to spend a summer afternoon. I highly recommend a trip for the family! Tips: bring life jackets if you plan to do the blob. You can not do it without one and they are not provided (although you can purchase one for around $15). Careful walking in the grassy areas...there are stickers. Camping is only aloud for RV's. Daily admission for swimming is $4.50 (free for two and under) and $2.50 to park. AND the park is dog friendly, which is a bonus for many.

This park has extremely reasonable monthly rates. The sites are huge with plenty of space in between them. The pool and hot tub are fantastic, clean and with such comfortable lounge chairs. The restrooms and laundry facilities are clean and in good working order; the washer & dryers look new. Theres an exercise room, a game room, a fishing hole, and a really nice playground for kids. The best part is how friendly, kind, helpful, and accommodating the office staff is! I highly recommend Coffee Creek RV Park!

While it is near the road, there are spots that are in the back, and it is very quiet as it is by the water and walking trails. There is a big, fenced in dog park that is very well maintained, the walking trails connect to a public park, there is a small park on site, laundry facilities, attentive office staff, and while it was quite busy it was actually quiet. Everyone respects everyone's space and keeps dogs leashed, trash picked up, and drive at a decent speed. It was a great experience here!
