We brought our clock for repair to Jeff. He gave us an estimate of $150. To oil our 400 day dome clock. He gave me an order form to totally fill out. After talking about the great items he has for sale in his shop. He gave me a pickup slip that had at the top left hand corner, in small print, $250.00. I'm 0ver 70, but I still have good reading eyes, and I brought it to his attention. He became angry and told us he never charges less than $300.00. And a cleaning will run $400.00. I understand how he was able to acquire so many antique clocks for sale. We didn't leave the clock and have no plans of ever doing business with him. read more

Charges my Mom that Dollar Amount ( Over $200 ) and then says while he's writing up the Receipt that he CAN'T Guarantee the Clock will run correctly ? He had my Moms clock for Months too ?.. What the FAK ? Guy was a Total Douche !!! He's an Odd Duck Too ! His behavior and Antics about Clock repair is Weird. I called to look into having a watch repaired and when the man answered the phone it was very loud like he was outside or something of that nature, which is understandable. I couldn't hear anything except background noise and when it finally ended (Im assuming he came inside) it was silent. Finally here's how the conversation went... I said "Hello? Can you hear me?" to which he replied "Who are you trying to call?" which seemed weird to me as a business owner answering his phone that way. "I said Im trying to get my watch repaired, is this the correct phone number?" and he answered with "I answered the phone Allens Clock and Watch Repair, didn't I?". So right out of the gate I felt like telling him to **** off but I went ahead and avoided that. "I told him that I couldn't hear him when he answered the phone." and he followed with "I only do batteries and watch bands, "Im not doing anything more extensive than that." So at that point I had enough of his low level attitude so I told him I would figure it out myself. I don't know how this dude gets any business with his demeanor but just in case anyone is looking for watch repair other than what you can do with a standard watch tool kit, don't bother the man. Sub par professionalism doesn't go far with me and if you're anywhere near being the same... avoid this business. read more

Alan seems like a great guy with a lot of knowledge about clocks--he gave us a thorough tutorial on how to maintain our antique clock (which we have had for over 40 years but good to learn new things). BUT it took us over 4 months to get it back, cost $300 with no parts involved (labor only) & it never has worked right despite numerous calls back & forth. As of today, it doesn't chime the correct hours or keep time & the lovely chime it always had is diminished. I am SUPER disappointed as I love this clock & we saved $ to "get it fixed by a professional". A total waste of money! Think seriously before using Alan's repair service. read more

It makes me sad to update this review as negative; however, I think it is very important for people looking for clock repair to know that this is not a good place to do business. Shortly after my clock was released to me, I noticed it was slowing down when chiming. It was noticeable. VERY noticeable. I contacted the owner of Alan's and left a message. I have never heard from him. I left several messages. Never heard from him again. Recently I was able to connect with Gary at The Clock Doctor. Gary had been the one to service my clock since I arrived in the Central Valley. He was unable to store it when I was moving which is why I ended up with Alan's Clock and Watch Repair. I shared with him what I was hearing and he immediately asked me if I had taken it to Alan's Clock & Watch Repair. Long story short - he has made a good living going behind this man and cleaning up the errors he has made. He described for me what he thinks is happening. When I told him I could not even change the chimes to a different tune anymore, he told me exactly what had happened. Suffice to say, I am spending another large chunk of money to repair my father's Herisheid Grandfather Clock. If it was not worth so much $ I would not do so, but it is a valuable family heirloom and deserves to be treated well. If he had even once returned a phone call, I might not be so harsh in my review. I had a watch that needed a new battery. Alan put in a new battery in the watch and he also discovered that the jeweler who replaced the battery previously had not replaced all the battery protectors. Alan replaced the missing parts. Now my watch is keeping the correct time. Plus he had lots of old clocks needing new homes. I guess I am going back to adopt an orphan clock. read more

2 Watch batteries replaced for $10. Best price in town. I usually pay some ridiculous price at a jewelry store to get my watch batteries replaced. I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. He has a lot of cool clocks for sale and a cute little dog. Nice guy! Will definitely be back! read more
