My daughter has two insurances, and she provided the details of both, online, prior to her vision test. Bad part: Billing department failed to apply proper insurance (ex. Eye exam is free with $0 copay, but they applied $39; CL Fitting co-pay is $40, but they charged her $126); They failed to inform my daughter about the insurance coverage or the cop-pays at any stage and did unnecessary exams (ex. Retinal exam). At the end of the visit, she was charged almost couple of hundreds dollars extra. I went in person, and submitted insurance details again. They promised they will contact me and adjust the billing; No call even after 5 days and when I reached out to them, I was told that they have already billed insurance (for the insurance part) hence they can reverse or adjust our billing. Trying to exploit both the insurance as well as the patient.

Painful and frightening experience - I do not recommend this place…read more I visited Retina Group of New York in Hicksville on September 12, 2025, for a routine eye check-up. I didn't have any vision problemas - I just wanted to make sure everything was fine. The initial tests showed that my vision was 20/20 with glasses. The I saw Dr. Dang Suveera, who told. me there were some minor changes in the membrane behind my eye, but that it was normal for my age. She said she wanted to look more closely at the membrane behind my eyeball. I told her I was afraid because I though she might touch my eye with the metal instrument, and I said NO. Despite that, she insisted on doing the procedure. She said that if something went wrong, she could "drain the liquid in my eye chamber with a laser". That statement made me very nervous, but she didn't explain what exactly she was going to do. When I felt something touching and pressing on my eye, I panicked and pulled away. She stopped, but afterward I felt pain and discomfort for several days, and I still don't feel that my eye is the same. I regret allowing this to happen - I had no symptoms and didn't need that test. I left feeling violated and afraid. It seemed like she ignored my consent and did something unnecessary just to practice or check something that wasn't urgent. I'm sharing this so other patients know to ask questions, refuse any procedure they're not comfortable with, and be very cautious about what is done to their eyes.

Who would've thought one of my favorite doctors to visit would be a retina specialist?…read more I started coming here a couple of years ago. I first worked with Dr. Maisel and now go to see Dr. Shah due to scheduling issues. They're both wonderful people and incredibly comforting while lasering your retina. The entire staff here is fantastic. Very nice, friendly, courteous, and keep you laughing while they run a million tests on your eyes. It makes the whole experience rather pleasant. The only downside is occasionally the wait can be long. It's a popular practice with lots of patients and even with COVID, it's still taking quite some time to be seen. But once they do get you in the back it's in and out.

My old doctor told me exactly what was wrong with my Pupil. I decided to test her knowledge and ask her the same thing - she said she didn't know and that it might be hereditary. No, it's not hereditary at all. I can't believe that's the only answer she gave me. Here's the topper.. On Monday, I booked the appointment for Friday afternoon. It was quarter mile down the road from my job. I get off work at 5, so I figured 530 would be perfect, which is when we booked the appointment for. Thursday, I get a phone call asking if I could move my appointment to 6:00. Annoyed - I took it anyway because I really wanted this appointment. For that hour wait, I decided I could go grocery shopping across the street in the mean time. Friday afternoon at 2:00, they called me and asked me if I could come in at 6:30 instead. Now, I'm mad. They told me that the doctor wouldn't be in the office until then. I decided to keep it anyway. So now, I'm waiting in my parking lot for an hour and half. Until I finally drive over there, and wait another 20 minutes because the doctor was running late. I didn't think she was friendly. She threw her purse and other items she ran in with into the room scattered all over the chair. So unprofessional. She then told me why she was late and that she had to get pictures with her son for Prom, so she had to drive to Nassau all the way back to Suffolk County. Are you serious? So she knew about his Prom a very long time ago, but decides to not take the night off and instead piss people off? That's what I call a good office. NOT. Never again will I come back here.

The most careless and heartless health provider I have EVER contacted. You should never go to this…read moredoctor due to their HEARTLESS policy of not seeing anyone without the ability to fully confirm their insurance. I was willing to pay UP FRONT IN CASH, they still would not see me. I have an urgent eye health issue. As a new employee who started with my company in the last few weeks, I am fully covered and can be seen by ANY provider-- and have confirmed such with my HR department several times today. My insurance WILL PAY. However due to the holidays and employee availability, my coverage is not yet confirmed with my insurance provider BCBS. This is purely an administrative timing issue related to my recent start date-- and I would be fully covered in the event I was seen by any provider. However--- due to the self serving policy of Morris & Romanelli, they refuse to see me unless they can confirm I am covered WITH the insurance provider. It is 4 days before christmas, I have called over 36 different eye doctors, no one has appointments. I can see why Morris & Romanelli has an opening--- because they are heartless and their customers know it. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR, EVER!!! I am sure their greed and uncaring nature towards their neighbors (I live literally down the road) reflects in the care they give to their patients. I will be leaving this review in as many places as I can find to warn others about this practice. "We cant bend the rules for anyone, sir". "That would be fraudlent". Why is it fraud to see someone who HAS COVERAGE? Why is it fraud to see someone who is willing to pay cash???? I would have been happy to submit a claim afterwards to be reimbursed. But no, the office manager is heartless and this company should be investigated. I am following up this review with a complaint to the NYS Medical board-- as their payment policy has directly affected my health. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
