My husband had dental work months ago. He was initially told the work was covered by our insurance. After the work was done they billed us for the work. We inquired and were told it was not covered. We paid because they were sending past due notices. After multipke calls and voice messages they resubmitted to insurance and the claim was fully paid. We are now trying to get our money back from Frame. Again multiple calls, voice message, excuses that someone is out of the office and it will be handled when they return we still have not received the refund ( this has been going on since July ) . I called again this morning and again was told that they will relay the message on Tuesday when the office reopens. It is so frustrating, I don't recommend this dental office since they lack customer service and honesty. read more

I meet Dr Frame almost 25 years ago. He was the dentist on call when my young son hit me in the mouth and broke off one of my front teeth. I was so impressed with him that we changed dentists to see him. Last week the cap snapped off and the staff fit me in. A week later, I have a new cap on my tooth. TLDR; their billing specialist/office manager sent my bills to the wrong person, blamed me for their oversight, and then hung up on me. Classy looking office, not classy service. Always received great service UNTIL life threw me a curveball and the front desk staff set false expectations around working with me on this curveball. I asked them to update my account to be separated from my ex husband's and update my address on file in 2023. They set the expectation that they would do so, but instead sent all of my bills to his address over the last 2 years and then sent me to collections although I never personally received a single bill or phone call regarding MY treatment. When I called to share my concerns and frustrations around this, they said they did nothing wrong and I need to practice better communication with my ex husband. He was receiving bills and had NO IDEA why as they didn't have my name on them or a breakdown of charges. When he asked to be sent a breakdown, he didn't receive them, so he didn't pay the balance thinking it was a mistake. In addition, the billing specialist claims I was still a dependent on his insurance and so my bills defaulted to his address (which even if it were true, no one informed me at the time). But I have proof that we didn't share insurance anymore and hadn't shared insurance for 2 years prior to my appointment, so my billing info should never have gone to him. This entire situation is super messy and easily could have been avoided. And instead of taking a single ounce of accountability that perhaps they could have communicated expectations better, or actually updated my insurance, address, or marital information on file as promised... they said I needed to take more accountability. Unless you're expecting life to not ever throw you a single curveball, stay away from this office. Dr. Frame is super nice and a gentle dentist, as are the assistants and hygenists, but the billing staff is arrogant and completely lacks customer service skills unless she's trying to sell you on orthodontics payment plans. And to top it all off, she hung up on me mid-sentence, when I was trying to wish her a good day and thank her for her time... Resorting to Yelp reviews because my feedback clearly didn't get through to them at the office. The inability to listen to client feedback is where stagnation and complacency are born. read more

It's always scary when you switch insurances and move to a different city/town and you have to find a new dentist. I've been to this office now 4 times for a root canal, cleaning services , exams, will be going back for fillings Julie is great at breaking down cost of what you have to pay out of pocket and what your insurance will cover!! I immediately called to set an appointment to fix it. Julie set me up with an appointment the next day. Super great customer service. The next day I was received by Belen remembered me and welcomed me back. April brought me her station and she also remembered me and we had a pleasant chat asI was sitting in the massage chair and Netflix was put on for me (again, AMAZING customer service) . But today, I am posting for the first time as a few days ago my mom had an urgent care need. I called, and we were in - That easy. Well, not completely as my mom is in a wheelchair, which didn't matter as their new dental offices with ample parking made this easy. As did the staff. And a root canal later, the pain was relieved. I did not know Dr. Frame could perform such procedures. Now I know there are different types of root canals. I needed to find a new dentist in my area since my dentist had retired. I relied on Yelp to steer me to a new dentist. Dr. Frame and his staff are friendly. It seems to me they were constantly trying to upsell me to get more and more work done. In fact, Dr. Frame told me that the reason I have vertical lines in my front teeth is from crowding, so I would buy invisalign. I since found out they were caused from wearing braces many years ago and they are not cracks. My big concern is their billing is a mess. If I had not checked with my insurance provider, I would have overpaid by hundreds of dollars. I just now got my remaining balance sorted out, just $55. This has been going on since February. If you decide to work with Dr. Frame, be sure to double check your insurance and what you owe. read more

Worst dental experiences in my life. Long story so I will try to make it short. I needed a lot of dental work done that was estimated to cost approximately $10,000 which my parents were paying for cash out of pocket. I had 8 teeth pulled at an oral surgeons office(which was fantastic) my parents wanted me to go to see Alan Frame, since he is their dentist, to have partials made along with teeth cleaning. These appointments started back inOctober 2019, My biggest concern was that I needed a partial the same day I had my 8 teeth pulled, can't walk around with no teeth! Frame did have a temporary stay plate partial for me that day, which was great,, up to this point. Now I have a series of appointments to go see frame, on average every 3 weeks,, FOR THE NEXT 10 MONTHS ! About midway through this marathon of appointments, frame has his team take molds of my mouth for my long awaited partials,, frame makes no mention to me that there are different types of partials made from different materials,, he never gave me any type of choice as to what type I would like,, frame makes this decision on his own,, so another few visits later, I go in for my new partial fitting,, these new partials are the worst looking fake teeth I've ever seen,, not to mention very painful in my mouth,, and they don't stay in place while you try to eat, and now the teeth become part of my food equation. NOT ACCEPTABLE!! the teeth looked terrible and were not functional for me. I insisted I wanted another mold of my mouth taken for a different set of teeth,, Frame insists these teeth are fine for my mouth Abd tells me,, "HE WILL BE THE ONE WHO DECIDES WHATS RIGHT FOR MY MOUTH"!! WHATTTT?? Oh hell no!! He starts to argues with me,, tells me, "this is my office and I'm being disrespectful!!" At this point I am furious,, and I left there without the teeth that do not fit properly in my mouth. Bottom line is this,, frame decided, on his own, without discussing with me,what type of partials to make,, the partials didn't work out,, so now we need to start over again, which doesn't fit into the $10,000 price agreement,, frame isn't about to eat the cost of the crappy partials, and cut into his juicy profits. Ultimately I still don't have any bottom teeth, and probably won't ever have them, since my parents are tapped out now. Frame is extremely arrogant and cocky person,, he cares about his juicy profits and his plush office. Awesome dentist. I just had a 20 year old filling replaced today. The old filling was an old yellow blob. The new filling is almost invisible as it is tooth colored and molded into the natural shape of the tooth. More importantly, Dr. Frame seems to have very good bed side manner. During my filling, he constantly checked to make sure that I was ok. Also, he updated me every few minutes on what was going on during the procedure. He even took a break in the middle of the procedure to let me rest my mouth. In summary, I received very good treatment and felt comfortable during the process. read more

Since the pandemic, many people have postponed their routine check-ups or dental services due to various concerns and I was one of them. However, my recent visits have changed my perspective. I was really impressed by the safety protocols in place. Dr. Frame's office has gone above and beyond, and the level of precautionary details shows that "Patient Safety" is not just a bottle of hand sanitizer in this office. They designed a workflow that really integrated the hygienic aseptic process into every step of patient care: When I arrived, the temperature was taken and a list of questions was asked to reduce the chance of admitting high-risk patients. The waiting room and the hallway are never crowded. And every time I arrive and leave the office, I noticed other patients leave and arrive, which tells me that this office is controlling the patient flow to reduce the number of patients at any given time so that social distancing is much easier. All office staff wears masks, chairs and glasses are sanitized in-between patients, shared cabinets are no longer used, personal items are placed on countertops that are wiped clean each time used, mouthwashes are provided before and after the services, and hand sanitizers are provided on your way out. I appreciate the level of detail and thoughtfulness they have shown and not to mention the amount of extra work this office has put in place in order to provide everyone with peace of mind for each visit. read more

The office didn't communicate with me about the side effect of zoom teeth whitening. I end up with 1st degree burn ( diagnosis from Palo Alto Medical Center ) that last for 2 weeks. I have been a patient of Dr. Frame's since I moved here from San Diego. He has an excellent demeanor with his patients and is very accomodating to hesitant patients like myself. I recently had a crown put in and he and his staff took great care of me. They all took time to explain my many options of care. April and Cindy are great hygentists and they were very patient with me. Julie the office manager also took time to explain to me how much each of the procedures would cost and were helpful in pricing out all the options. At the end of the day I asked for a pre-authorization from my insurance before we moved ahead. They were all understanding of my hesitancy with the cost and didn't pressure me into any decisions. My husband and I have been patients since 2004. In 2005 my husband fell off a ladder on a Saturday afternoon and broke his teeth, cut his lip and broke his elbow. We called Dr. Frame and the guy rushed to meet us at his office like he was an ER doctor. It was AMAZING. He fixed him up with temporary crowns AND stitched his lip. (Yes, we then proceeded to the ER) This kind of dedication is hard to come by these days. Seriously, I'm sad to see some of the character attacks in a couple of reviews). Dr.Frame didn't even charge us a special fee for the emergency. We would have paid double! On top of that, Julie arrived and provided moral support as well dental assisting. I remember her saying she had left a soccer game she was coaching to come and help my husband- but was totally present in the moment. Very selfless. I guess you could say we're loyal 'lifers' Do some of the other employees seem to roll with a different philosophy at times? Sure. Show me a place that doesn't have a couple of weak links with staff. I can wholeheartedly say that Dr. Frame is the best dentist in the Bay Area. By 'best', I mean the most professional, skilled, warm, friendly, and personable dentist I have met! For some background info, I am a poor student who has been depending on fleeting deals to get reduced-priced teeth cleanings and dental services, so I have been to a number of different private dental clinics in the past and have a lot of "data points" to compare Dr. Frame to. He is extraordinary in many ways, and certainly exceeds expectations with his quality service. Below are a few of Dr. Frame's qualities that I feel really stand out. His counseling abilities are superb. It is second nature for him to educate the patient, as he often voices his actions in plain language as he is working on the patient's dentition. This, to me, is a new experience but very valuable and important because I get to know exactly what he is doing, alleviating any sense of fear or uncertainty. Dr. Frame also demonstrates genuine care for the patient, spending as much time as needed with each patient. As a patient who asks a lot of questions, I am happy that he displays interest in my well-being and always answers all my questions with patience. I never feel rushed, and I never feel as if I had asked a stupid question (which I frequently feel when I interact with other specialized professionals). Very. Gentle. Hands. As a coward who has a ridiculously low tolerance for pain (especially pain in my gums and teeth) I found Dr. Frame to be extremely careful, precise, and gentle during all procedures. Lastly, this dentist is also highly personable and friendly, and always seems to be in a very positive mood. His great attitude in general is very refreshing! Two friends recommended Dr. Frame to me, and by far he is the best dentist I have ever experienced. He is friendly, funny, caring, and professional - plus, he plays the XM 80s station in his office. I appreciate the musical distraction! He patiently explains the procedure he is about to perform, and doesn't make you feel like a pussy when you express concern about potential pain. He has performed routine exams, filled cavities, and replaced a crown for me. During every visit I felt calm and comfortable. The office staff is friendly and helpful as well. I am a college student and recently had a problem with severe pain around a filling my regular dentist had done for me - being originally from SoCal, I couldn't see my primary dentist and needed to find someone local, and quickly. After several failed calls to different local dentists, I found Dr. Frame's practice and called about an urgent same-day appointment. The staff are incredibly helpful and understanding. Julie could tell I was in a lot of pain and found a time slot between two appointments when I could be seen - she also told me their website offers electronic registration for new patients to complete beforehand, which saved me a lot of time when I arrived. Dr. Frame was very friendly, explained the possible causes and treatments for me clearly and simply, and did what he could to fix/reshape my filling very quickly.
