One of the owners is from Kentucky and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University where I went to school undergrad and graduate school plus lots of training classes for jobs. This leads me to believe her degree in design is excellent. Then again I'm partial to anything Kentucky. What leads me to write this review is my beautiful leather bag. I've had it for years. My daughter purchased it originally and we trade it back and forth. When I went to the Hayden and Harnett website I was disappointed that all their products are now vegan leather. They are involved with PETA and have changed their mission. So yes I love animals and I understand testing with makeup products but I don't understand why if we are slaughtering beef to eat burgers why we can't take advantage of the hide to make beautiful leather products. Maybe you all can explain it to me. I'm giving 3 stars but my leather bag is five stars. The vegan are nice looking and reasonably priced jf you want to check them out. When the store changed ownership, they changed the name, but to something close to "Natural Leather." It is a true hippie leather store, and one of their best products is their custom leather sandals made from a tracing of your foot. They'll do all repairs on them, and these will last you years and years--trust me. Carol is the woman who runs the store, and Josh is the estranged son of Dick, the founder. ("I was a sandal slave," Josh told me once about his summers growing up, making sandal parts. He also told me once that Dick was the "sandal king," which he is.) I walked in, a fairly naive suit buyer, and saw a beautiful Hugo boss suit . It fit well and was pricey(it's Boss tho!) and I walked out a happy camper for about a month . Coming home from work today i saw stray strands on the pant seam . Taking a closer look , all the belt straps looked ragged and we're coming apart. Then , I look inside my Hugo Boss pants and it says MADE IN CHINA . Disturbed , I look at the jacket which says "MADE IN SLOVENIA" ... Hm. I do my research and find other inconsistencies like the material of the inside pocket label (supposed to be cloth-not paper), the absence of a watermark on the inside label, the pant pocket should also have a matching label -- there was none. As i ticked off more and more things I realized , long behold , I'm the owner of a 500 dollar fake Hugo boss suit . This really should be illegal . Do yourself a favor and go to a dept store .

David trained to both custom make and repair shoes in his native Uzbekistan (he is Bucharian), and he has owned this shop for 26 years. While his shop is tiny and doesn't look or feel new, he carries on the tradition of his forbears, using the tried and true machines of the mid-20th century, which have repaired thousands and thousands of shoes before. David's breadth of experience shows, and I'd almost call him a miracle worker, as he has taken my shoes in states of near destruction and made them look new. Even though I will no longer be working in lower Manhattan, I plan to go out of my way to continue using his services in the future. David's pricing is fair and honest, and his shoe repair services are delivered promptly. His key copying also comes in handy at $3/key. Please have cash ready and give him your business today!

The short version: David is a real-deal master, and amply earns every dollar you spend with him. If…read moreyou're on the fence about whether or not to buy a bespoke suit at all, his work is jaw-droppingly worth it. If you're choosing between tailors, David will give you a level of attention and care that exceeds any I've worked with. The longer version: I purchased a bespoke suit from David in January. He was extremely accommodating to my schedule as an out-of-town client (I lived in DC at the time) for the initial appointment and for the two subsequent fittings. The first appointment with David is tremendous fun and tremendously informative---as you pick out fabrics and settle on a style, you quickly get a sense of his skill and enthusiasm (both extremely high). As a consequence of his attention to detail, you'll learn about variables you'd likely never thought of, even if you've spent a great deal of time thinking about men's clothing. During the subsequent fittings, David was appropriately exacting about alterations, which yielded a suit so plainly meant for me that I look for any and all justifications to wear it, and clap giddily each time I do. Strangers are equally enthusiastic, which, you know, is great. David is also a real delight to work with: while deadly serious about his craft, he's extremely good company with enough stories to last as long as you could need. I'm certainly going back.

Unacceptable stress and poor project management for a high-end tuxedo…read more My experience with David was incredibly disappointing and stressful. Despite placing a deposit in June for a December wedding-giving us a six-month lead time-the process was mismanaged from start to finish. Although I requested a mid-November completion to avoid last-minute anxiety, and David promised to accommodate this, the timeline was completely ignored. I had to chase him repeatedly for updates. I didn't receive a first fitting until seven days before my wedding. Even then, the suit was in shambles: a jacket missing a sleeve, pants without buttons, and no vest. This forced me to attend three stressful fittings during my wedding week. At one point, he actually asked if delivery after my wedding date would be acceptable. I lost so much faith in the process that I purchased a backup tuxedo from Suitsupply just to be safe. Eventually, he delivered the suit at 11:00 PM the night before my wedding. For a garment costing nearly five figures, the quality is merely 'decent,' not outstanding, and it was missing several custom details we agreed upon at the start. I cannot recommend this service.
