All the heart and lung scans, and blood tests requested by conventional doctors were negative and I was asked to just live with the breathing issues which were told to be common after Covid and take over counter pain killers for my back pain. I didn't want to take medicine all my life and solve the root case. These issues did not let me have any restorative sleep each night and also affected my work and left me no energy to take care of my young kids when schools opened up after pandemic and everything moved "on-site". I did visit a Chiropractor in Redmond three years ago who hurt me and pinched a nerve in my right shoulder and I was little wary trying out Chiropractic treatment again. After a bout of TMJ recently coupled with so many health concerns which my conventional doctors seemed to give up on, I found Dr Ben while querying ChatGPT for skilled Chiropractor on the East side and felt peaceful and restored right after the first session with him. I was referred to him from a UW Orthopedic doctor who had seen boney edemas in my MRI's and who provided me Dr. Cannon's name. I waited many weeks to get the appointment with Dr. Cannon. When setting the appointment with him I communicated with his nurse assistant to ensure prior to my visit Dr. Cannon had the scans showing the boney edemas and the scan of my history pathology showing I had mestatic breast cancer in the past. She confirmed the scans had been received prior to the visit. I set the appointment because I have severe bone pain in several locations. On the visit, Dr. Cannon walks into the exam room and asked me what the problem was. I explained to him my history of mestatic breast cancer and a double mestectomy and thyroid cancer to start, he wasn't really interested. I asked if he had read my reports or looked at my scans, he said no they weren't available to him. I expressed his nurse had confirmed my records were in their system, his response was they weren't. I told him I had them with me, both paper reports and CD's, he said he didn't have a way to download the CD's and wasn't interested in the reports. And asked me what I expected him to do. I told him I had several locations of severe bone pain and that boney edema's were showing on my scans. I explained that initially there was one, then more, and now I was having bone pain in my chest bones. He asked what I expected him to do about it and I told him I would like him to biopsy the boney edema in my tibia as it was the one at the time which makes it hard for me to walk. He told me that it woud be considered malpractice for him to biopsy a boney edema. Again I asked for him to look at my scans. He told me I needed to see a general practitioner and there good ones out there who can look general body pains. I told him if I have bone cancer I was going to be very unhappy about his decision to not review my records and that I had been referred to him specifically because he was a oncology orthopedic surgeon. He asked if I was threatening him, I said no, but I would be very mad of his level of care. He stated he didn't know I had been referred but then he tells me (without any review of my records) that it sounds like fibromyalgia to me. I walked out of the exam room with disgust. After the visit, I read his chart notes on my medical record which indicated he and I discussed my muscle pain, he made no mention in the notes that the fact of my visit was bone pain from boney edema's and my request for biopsy to confirm my breast cancer hadn't spread to my bones. It was very disappointing about his level of concern or level of care, I had spent 2 months to see him and then several hours back and forth from my island to Seattle and back just to be rudely treated and disregarded.

Pre-surgery, he told me that the injury is really bad and it could be a tricky operation and perhaps after recovery I may not have the same mobility in my left hand. Post surgery, I had 7 screws and a plate. 10 days later, I visit him again, take an x-ray and see that all the bones are perfectly back in place. It was a very successful surgery. Now after 2 month, my elbow which was deemed to be pretty badly injured, healed pretty well and I gained back 95% of the original mobility. I had the surgery a year ago, and he answered all my questions and re-filled my pain meds with just a call to the office when I needed a re-fill. He made me feel at ease pre-surgery and was very easy to talk to at all my pre and post surgery visits. My shoulder now is back to about 95% range of motion a year later and feels like new! It has not dislocated again which is great. If my other shoulder gets as bad as the one I had the surgery on I will definitely turn to Kirby again to fix it! If you need any surgery for your shoulder Dr. Kirby is the one you need to see!

Like a light switch turning off, his face and body language changed and he could not get out of the exam room fast enough (he was running behind schedule). Many years ago, Dr. Kirby removed a calcium deposit in my rotator cuff. It healed perfectly and I felt like it never happened. Recently I had pain resembling what I felt post surgery years ago. I went back to Dr. Kirby because I was so happy with his previous work. When Dr. Kirby determined that this new problem was not needing surgery, he had no good answers or interest in what the problem might be. To placate me he said, "This will get better on it's own", wrote a prescription for pain then he was out the door. When I protested, he sent a nurse to show me some exercises (He would not have sent her if I was quiet). I still have no idea what is causing my pain. I don't want to go see him again over this because it costs extra to go outside of my insurance coverage plan. I feel like it would annoy him if I showed up again now anyway. Bottom Line: If I really ever NEED shoulder surgery again, I do want Dr. Kirby to do it.
