Dr Weinberg is an excellent Urologist, I was a thankful patient for at least 25 years. I saw him mutiple times for different problems. He was always an excellent Doctor, very thorough and very perfessional. I had two sucessful surgery's by him and he always gave me excellent care from the very beginning in 1990's to the end where he retired. He retired a few years ago, approx in the year of 2023. Dr. Weinberg has been treating me for several months- including the REZUM procedure done two months ago. He is very thorough and highly recognized in the field of Urology. Dr. Weinberg recently implemented using the "Pro- Nox" pain relieving system- which is a combination of Nitrous Oxide & oxygen. I used the system today and it was awesome. Many of the procedures he does are painful just because of the area being treated. This new system alleviates almost all of the pain and anxiety with the procedures. Be warned!! This man is a horrible, brutal and violent doctor. He was visibly very angry and agitated as soon as we met the day I consulted with him. He tried to lecture me for something entirely unrelated to his field, after which he violently performed a DRE worsening my condition. I walked out of his office in pain and never returned. After I complained to my primary doctor and St. Jude hospital he wrote a very defensive letter to my doctor and the hospital filled with untruths. I cannot believe he has been allowed to continue practicing medicine. I will never go back to St. Jude or any of their doctors because of him. Stay away from this creep! Go to City of Hope instead. Dr. Weinberg is an amazing doctor. He has saved my mom's life. She's 79 years old and has had kidney stones for quite a few years, She was told to deal with the pain due to her medical condition and age. Those stones wouldn't stop creating other problems for her like urinary tract infections, bladder infections creating problematic heart conditions and ending up in the hospital over and over again. She finally had such a bad infection and was seen by Dr. Weinberg at St Jude Hospital. He placed a stent in her and two weeks later after the infection cleared he removed the stones. My mom feels like a new woman and now she will be able to live pain free with no infections due to these kidney stones. Dr Weinberg is one of the nicest doctors besides being extremely blessed in his specialty. He really knows what he is doing. We all were so fortunate to have him as our mothers doctor. Dr. Weinberg is a really great physician. He spent time with us reviewing the radiology results which showed a solid tumor in my husband's kidney. As a nurse practitioner, I appreciated how thorough he is in his examination, in his review of the labs and radiologic studies. We also appreciated that he is straightforward and the time he spent going over the options so that we could make an informed decision based on all the facts. Although an intelligent and capable urologist, several flaws should make you hesitant before seeing Dr. Weinberg. His office recently instituted an insulting policy that you have to pay him $100 if you cancel your appointment two days prior to your scheduled time. Until you pay up, you cannot see him. If you don't sign the policy, he won't take you on as a patient. We've come to expect behavior modification penalties from the airlines, but certainly not from physicians with whom you're trying to establish a long term, personal relationship. Such policies speak loudly about a medical practice's priorities and character. The greed could be the result of an ongoing, expensive malpractice lawsuit against him working its way through OC Superior Court (Case ID 00786288), caused by an office procedure that went very wrong. Office visits are fast (rushed) and administratively efficient for his benefit (have your questions ready and be prepared to take notes very quickly), typically scheduled in about a 6 to 10 minute cycle per patient (but watch the billing as the ICD-10 billing code will most likely be for a "long" office visit which is supposed to last on average 30 to 40 minutes). I cannot recommend Dr. Weinberg for treatment of non-cancerous prostate issues (BPH, prostatitis, et al). IMO he tends to oversubscribe antibiotics, neither taking the time to confirm the presence of nor characterize pathogens, the latter beneficial for optimal antibiotic treatment if indeed bacteria are present. He is challenged listening to you during rushed office visits, and I did not get the impression he is up to speed on current medical literature, diagnostics, nutritional aspects of treatment, or procedures (other than money-making UroLift). Again, a very smart urologist, but one which will be difficult to establish a relationship with, who may cut corners for the sake of cost (profit) and efficiency, and who has recently been experiencing some challenges with his medical practice. As consumers of medicine, I recommend always running background checks on your physicians to include the courts, medical associations and licensing boards, and the Medicare database for detailed billing and treatment/procedure information. The Medicare database does not include Medicare Advantage or private insurance data, but you can extrapolate the information to get an idea about your physician's experience and capabilities. read more
