It offers a more intimate, neighborhood cinema experience with comfortable seating, staggered seating arrangements in some theaters, and often features discounted tickets on certain days, making it a popular local spot. ' Cobble Hill is a landmark, and yes, love supporting an independent theatre. There is a time and a place for "stadium seating" however, there is something to be said for a small theatre. I really like the idea of just 50 people sharing this intimate space. I really feel as if I'm in my living room watching the movie. The theater has been renovated over the years and I must say the seating is comfy, a bit elevated thus no " big head" issues, very clean especially the bathrooms. The popcorn is still delicious and I see they have an add butter "faucet" which has been recently added. CH still offers discounts on Tuesdays and Thursdays; used to be $9 back in the day. I love supporting this theater and you can't beat Cobble Hill neighborhood which offers a wealth of restaurants, shopping and just a cool area to stroll and view the beautiful brownstones. It's such a refreshing alternative than going to the big commercial theaters. The ambiance is a lot less chaotic, and the overall vibe feels more personal and intentional. One of the biggest pros for me is the in-theater service. Having food and drinks brought right to your seat is such a treat, and the staff does an impressive job of being as discreet as possible during the movie. You can tell they really try not to distract the audience, which I really appreciate. If I had to point out a con, it's the seating. It's definitely not as plush or comfortable as the big chain theaters like AMC. But in a way, it adds to Nitehawk's charm as more of a family owned business. However, if I'm going in for a three-hour major film, I definitely prefer a comfier setup. I've been here watching a big Marvel film in the past, and the vibe doesn't match for me personally. Overall though, Nitehawk remains one of my go-to theaters in all of NYC. It's perfect for intimate screenings, and nights where I want a cozier, less crowded movie experience.

Now, actually having your order card picked up by a server and receiving exactly what you ordered in a timely manner is a different story. Expect a 20 minute wait before your order card is picked up, and your sad and cold plate of food to arrive 30 minutes after that accompanied by the wrong drink. Also, I've been here dozens of times since this theater opened and the bathrooms have been out of order every single time I've gone. (Pro tip: use the mall restrooms in the basement before you arrive.) It's a shame. This theater used to be simply amazing (I would have given it 5 stars 5 years ago) but has gone so far downhill in the past few years I now only come here as a last resort. Hopefully they'll "shake up" the management soon and hire someone who knows what they're doing. Would love to be a customer again!

The staff came across as nonchalant and not very engaged, which set the tone right away. The food didn't help either--the spicy tuna was completely flavorless, not crispy and the drinks were underwhelming. We also weren't told ahead of time that you have to pick up your food and drinks yourself, which was surprising since we're used to full service at your seat. On the positive side, the popcorn and truffle fries were decent, but everything else fell short. The seats were just okay--not particularly comfortable. The bathroom situation was also frustrating--it's located upstairs near the restaurant and wasn't well maintained. There were no paper towels, and overall cleanliness was lacking. Overall, this felt like a subpar experience, and I won't be returning. My cousin mentioned the New Jersey location is much better, so maybe it's just this one--but based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend it.

It is located across from the Peter J. Sharp Building ( where I usually see movies) and next to Whole Foods, housed in the L10 Arts and Cultural Center. I was greeted by the kind employee and he instructed me to go to the 2nd floor to see my film. I entered and two engineers or project managers? were speaking and I stated " Wow, this is really cool!". They smiled and said "This is Day 3 of the cinema opening". I was in a popcorn and soda mood, picked my snacks up at the Concession Stand and walked to my movie room. I walked down a sleek hall with round leather "pouf" orange ottomans; perfect to sit and wait outside for your movie to start. I love the movie theaters that are small and sleek... oohhh what have we here? Leather seating, leg room, big screen and less crowds!" The popcorn and soda were fresh and delicious. The entire staff were wonderful and courteous. BAM is surrounded by cool restaurants like Olea and Miss Ada, Apple for shopping, and nearby Atlantic Avenue Mall. I haven't been a regular moviegoer as I used to be, COVID unfortunately impacted that habit. However, when I do go to see a movie or actor that really motivates me to patronize movie theaters, BAM is now on my top 3 movie theater venues. See ya at the movies! I've been here before for a Zelda orchestra and it was beautiful, totally different vibe. This time around for a hip hop comedy show, there were several people in the crowd smoking some dirt aka really low-quality weed and the 2nd hand smoke and smell give me a headache, which kind of took away from the experience. Also, like most NYC venues, food and drinks are there if you want them, but definitely overpriced. I skipped it this time since I ate beforehand. Overall, I'd still come back for a good concert, game, or show...just know the crowd you get depends on the event.
