I saw this place on the news and wanted to support. My family and I stopped in about 15 minutes before closing. The customer service A+. The manager and the person checking us out were friendly. The selection was limited. The manager said that customers came in before the SNAP benefits changes and bought a lot of stuff. I plan to visit again in a month or so. read more

If you have a sweet tooth (or a spicy one), Alamo Candy Co. is basically the mothership. Walking in is a total sensory overload in the best way possible--rows of technicolor treats, piñatas hanging from the ceiling, and that iconic "Batman" guarding the aisles. The Layout & Vibe It is a massive warehouse-style shop filled with every kind of candy imaginable. They have a huge selection of American classics and imported Mexican favorites, but their homemade line is where they really shine. * The "Batman" Rule: You can't miss the life-sized Batman statue--just a heads-up that there's a "Do Not Touch" sign on him! * Organization: The shelves are packed with everything from bulk lollipops and "Glow Pops" to stacks of de la Rosa Mazapán. What to Grab * The Classics: You have to get the de la Rosa--it's a staple for a reason. * The "San Antonio" Specials: They are famous for their Chamoy pickles (look for the Big Tex Dill Pickle in Chamoy), Picositas belts, and those spicy tamarindo chili balls. * Party Needs: Beyond the candy, they have a ton of party supplies and authentic piñatas if you're prepping for an event. Pro-Tips for Your Visit * Parking: They have a dedicated customer parking lot, so you don't have to stress about finding a spot on the street. * Timing: They are open Monday-Saturday (9:00 AM - 6:30 PM) and Sunday (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM). * The "Sugar Rush": Be prepared to leave with way more than you planned. It's hard to say no when everything is so well-priced and unique! Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is a San Antonio institution that you have to experience at least once. #AlamoCandy #SanAntonioEats #MexicanCandy read more

All the candy you can ask for. From name brand to their specific candies; you can't go wrong. They also have all the pinatas and toys too. You can tell this is a happening place. I was expecting more of their handmade candies as opposed to Jelly Belly's and stuff, but it was a decent price and clean. The staff were nice and friendly too. read more

We had such a great time exploring the amazing selection of snacks and candies! When I mentioned to one of the team members that we were packing up a snack haul to send to our daughter in the Air Force out in California, they were super helpful. She and her military friends really love getting these care packages! They even hand-picked some extra goodies for us to include. A big thank you for supporting our troops! read more

Sweets on sweets on sweets! Get your sweet tooth some cavities! This is a warehouse of nothing but the finest in candies and pickles. I've never seen such a selection of Mexican candies this far north of the border. The Mexican candy selection is scores of variations of sour and chamoy, and shockingly sweet saccharine selections! Chamoy is like this sour plum candy from China, but it's a Mexican thing that pairs with alcohol or fruit or just about anything sweet. They have imported candies from around the world. Be sure to check out the clearance section of candies- candies with expiration dates that are right around the corner- eat 'em up fast! I doubt that candy goes bad right after the expiration date, so I wouldn't sweat it. I doubt a stale Mike & Ike is gonna kill ya. There's an epic Selena mural on the side of the building, which is a wonderful addition. The rides in front of the store are a nice touch as well. Parking is easy- it's got a private lot right off McCullough with easy access onto and off of I-10. read more

Best variety of candy in central Texas. Chamoy pickles are on point and various different in house and name brands if candy everywhere. Prices have gone up so 4/5 stars! read more

They got lots of good stuff, just somewhat pricey. Won't deter me tho. I still go back.

What a disappointment; compared to ads I'd seen on social media about a greet candy store... yuk. I enjoy, probably too much, candy. Walked out without buying a thing. Selections were limited to overpriced, low quality items. Other candy stores across the country are clean, pleasantly presented and staffed by people who reflected the type of store. I'd guess that staffing there was indeed reflective of the store. Again, lousy, knockoff candy and even the small amounts of brand name products were ridiculously overpriced. Yuk. read more

Even as someone who doesn't actively seek out sweets, it's hard not to be impressed with Alamo Candy. In some ways this is like the holy grail of candy in bulk, especially of the Mexican variety. It's a colorful store and the sugary scents are potent. I could get lost in here just perusing all the fun stuff they have. For folks looking for niche candies only found in Mexico, chances are it's available here. In addition, they have fun piñatas, party supplies, obscure candy memorabilia, syrups, drink mixes, and plenty of gift worthy products. I've found packs of some of my favorite childhood sweets (#1) along with chilito straws, picositas candy belts, coco banderas, and chamoy / tamarindo flavored everything. For people who just simply want their reese's / snickers / kit kats, there's plenty of that as well. There is above average selection of regional classic dulce treats from taffies, lollies, and a pretty solid selection of Asian stuff as well (including a section of pocky sticks). If there is something specific on the list, give the store a call ahead of time or check out the inventory on their website (#2). Like so many SA establishments, the staff is bilingual in both Spanish and English. They have their own dedicated parking lot and take credit card. The store is definitely kid friendly and a dream for the anyone into the confectionary life. ___________ (#1) De La Rosa. Mazapan para siempre. (#2) Which also lists the prices as well. So good. read more

If you're looking for old familiar favorites, Mexican Candy, glass bottle sodas & party favors then look no further! Most items are buy in bulk but are very reasonably priced. I come here for my mini big hunk bars, Charleston chews which have become hard to find & many other items. I have officially fallen in love with their chamoy pickles. They have the perfect sour taste of a movie theater pickle with a bit of spice. They are messy & can stain your fingers/ lips so be warned lol. Also they have a huge selection of chamoy, chamoy cups for michaladas, different chips & other convenient store snacks! read more

Our favorite place to go for snacks. Mexican candies and every childhood candy you ever loved- in bulk!

Make sure you use the restroom before going into this store. I understand not allowing general public use of facilities, but I was going to spend quite a bit of money there. Since I had to leave to use a bathroom, I didn't go back and will find other products and sources for my candy business. read more

If you like candy or are looking for a specific candy start here. The is a warehouse of candy. Everything was very well organized and on display. I was so impressed with the volume of candy in this place. Most of the items are sold in bulk sizes so be prepared for that. I saw candy and snacks that I haven't seen since my childhood. The staff is friendly and quick so checking out was a breeze. I really enjoyed checking out this location and I can see why they have a constant stream of customers. If you have kids, they may not want to leave if you bring them here so keep that in mind. We saw a few temper tantrums because the kids couldn't take everything home in the store, lol. Stopped by on a weekday and it was pretty quiet so had dedicated help. Picked out a large box of chocolates on this trip. There's two long glass cases of chocolates ranging from with nuts, fruits, and other fillings. You can often get white, milk and dark chocolate with any filling or added product. They also do personalized chocolates such as putting a name of message on a chocolate bar. There's plenty of Alamo-themed chocolate, making it a perfect souvenir! All the chocolates are made in-house with the exception of the fudge and nonpareils. The chocolate is very smooth and you can tell the difference! Truffles melt in your mouth and have a strong buttery chocolate taste. This month, they also started getting these super cute wooden (some are also music boxes) advent calendars. read more

It was like walking back in time in certain areas of the store. Finding candy I've not seen since childhood, some since my daughter was little was such fun. I slowly walked each isle for over an hour. Enjoying every bit of it. They even have a warehouse area where you can go get containers to make favors, or for products. I went in to get ideas for a baby shower. I've decided to make a candy bar for it. Well, I hit the mother load of candy. I'll be back to finish getting all I need for the party. I got 1/2 while there. I'll get the rest this week. The employees are very sweet (pun intended ) and helpful. The displays they have up for Halloween are like a trip back to the Halloween of yesteryear. The way Halloween should still be. I was in candyland, & I was happy! Great place Alamo Candy! Great selections & delicious choices. Go have fun. read more
