I also brought all the paperwork that I needed and I got that information from their website. However, I noticed that some of the personnel that work here were rude to some of the people waiting for service. Also, the people waiting should do their homework ahead of time and come prepare with their paperwork or documents. So I can understand how employees get frustrated, but also people get frustrated because many of them need to get the process done and they feel frustrated with the bureaucracy. with that said in the five minutes, I was there I heard many people complaining and also employees yelling at those people so overall, it was a stressful experience, even though my own transaction was very fast and easy because I came prepared. My recommendation is for you to make an appointment and also review carefully the requirements that are posted on their website so that once you are at your appointment, you can have a fast and productive experience. also, I saw several signs that say that appointments are REQUIRED. Also, some of the disturbances I witnessed were because people who did not have appointments or were missing documentation but were very insistent which then became a yelling match between them and the SSN employee! Another suggestion is to be patient. This is the Social Security office which is a government facility, and this type of thing can be slow and bureaucratic. This is how it is, so be patient, come prepared, and make sure to have an appointment.

As a detainee, I expected due process and humane treatment--even if the arrest was in dispute. Instead, I encountered what felt like an environment of intimidation and neglect. My legal rights were ignored. Despite multiple requests to contact an attorney, I was repeatedly dismissed and mocked by staff. It was something clearly protected by California Law, but violated by the police. During my time there, I witnessed alarming neglect. One person in a nearby cell was violently ill all night without medical attention. Another appeared to be in distress after being physically mistreated. The overall facility was unsanitary--bodily fluids - poops, blood, vomit, pees, visibly present on benches and walls, everywhere. Not to mention the horrible smell. When I asked to be moved to a cleaner space, I was ridiculed again. I share this not out of anger, but because no one--regardless of the circumstances of their arrest--should be treated this way. We rely on our public institutions to uphold dignity and law, not degrade it. I hope speaking up encourages accountability, reform, and a safer environment for all.

I'll bet the art teacher would love to hear from me. Henry gave me color. I will always be grateful for that. Some people who work in corrections believe that once a person is an inmate, they should lose the privilege of ever believing themselves to be a human being, for good. A women's prison, mens prison, and a minimal security women's camp. To see the women's prison, visitors enter through the front door, check in, and go through the metal detector. A visitation room is just on the right and you can visit a good part of the day. For the visitors though, this is as far as you go. For the prisoners, they pass the control room and enter what looks like a junior college campus. Many buildings spread out with open space. Just to the right is the chapel that serves all denominations. Just beyond that is a gym where the women take a variety of classes such as spinning or Zumba. It also has pottery workshop, a library, and a knitting/sewing room. There is also weight lifting available. An outdoor rec area includes tennis courts and a track. Beyond that are the main dorms. These are small rooms with 3 bunks. No bars on these rooms just a solid wooden door. No doors on the sink and toilet. Each of the dorms has television, an open area, and email access. There are also communal washing machines. There are opportunities for work. Kitchen, grounds, maintenance or a Unicor telephone facility. In this case, the women answer phones to handle magazine subscriptions. Pay is minimal and they can spend it at the commissary. For those with disciplinary problems, you get put into the SHU. This is a separate building where you are in isolation. You can get into a 10x30' fenced pen an hour a day five days a week. Otherwise you stay in your cell. Food is brought to you. The cells do have showers which you can use 3 x a week. There was a building for education classes. The women are required to work towards a GED. Some make it some don't. The grounds are open and plenty of space to walk around. The geese were all over the place and there were at least two resident cats. Don't try getting out though. A tall fence with electronic monitors and 11 strands of razor sharp barbed wire prevent that. I must admit that the facilities were better than expected. But not a place anyone wants to spend time at.

After living in San Ramon for almost 9 years, I was fairly unimpressed with the old City Hall digs in a nearby business park and was very happy to hear that my well-run city was going to get itself a new place to call home. So, how did it turn out? Well, I think it's beautiful! I love the rotunda (the round portion of the building with lots of glass and a shiny floor), it's grandiose and a perfect showpiece for the city. It's clear that the building was built using the latest in environmental and technological bells 'n whistles, which add to it's splendor. I happened to visit the NEW city hall for a trip to their passport office and was very pleased with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Congrats San Ramon, you've successfully built yourself something to be proud of - a lovely new City Hall. 5 stars.

It's best to rent the picnic tables during the summer time so that you have that spot reserved for you and your guests. If someone tries to take your spot you just show them your permit and reservation for that spot and they have to leave. It was funny watching kids making the big slide into a water slide they were all lined up passing the bucket of waters to pour down the slide. We always have playdates here the kids love it.
