Let me start by saying that I am not the person that will take time on a Friday evening to leave a bad Yelp review, so that in itself says a lot!
About a month ago I came to Dr. Leah Berke for what I now know to be a sebaceous cyst. She advised me she could not take care of it then (of course, this was a consult..totally understand) but that it was an easy fix and that I could make an appointment when I am ready to get it taken care of. I called on 09/15/2020 got an appointment for two days later. Yay! Super excited. I get there check in, get put in a room, all very quickly. Dr. Berke comes in and asks what I am in for. When I remind her I had been there for a consult etc. she tells me she can not do the procedure. She tells me that it is an hour to 5 pm and the girls in the front need to go home early. Jennifer has a kid that needs to be homeschooled and they have to go home to cook for their families. Their whole life story within 20 seconds. Unprofessional much? I told her I understood, but I did make this appointment and mentioned over the phone that this was a follow-up for a procedure and the receptionist reassured me that the Dr. would be able to take care of my needs when I got there. I also traveled 45 minutes and as a teacher do not have much down time for appointments. She said she had to check with the ladies in the front and ask for their permission first. After she left, one of the girls came in and took my payment of $450. She said she just had to check Dr. Berke's schedule to see if there was enough time. When Dr. Berke came in she looked at me and rolled her eyes. Honest truth! I told her how grateful I was because this issue had been prolonged and has been weighing on me for a while. Her response "Don't thank me! Thank Jennifer, she has a kid and needs to go home, this is not fair to the ladies!" I tried explaining how if I would have known the process of scheduling an appointment I would have done so accordingly, for I, myself did not enjoy driving 45 minutes for something that couldn't have been done. I told her that the girls had said she would be able to do it..so I didn't know better or any different. Her words "Do you think they know who you are? Do you think I know who you are? That when I pull out your file, I remember you?" Apparently not, Dr. Berke, apparently not. She didn't really care to know who I was, or read my records prior to me coming, that this was a follow-up. She probably didn't even prep for my procedure. She kept going on and on, in my eyes, trying to put me in a guilt trip and then these words "Do you think you just show up to a Surgeon's office and go on the table and get surgery?" The final straw was when I sat on the patient chair and lifted my dress to my groin area, and she says "How do you suppose I am to perform this? You need to take off your underwear." I didn't get a paper blanket or gown or any direction as to how to place myself. Mind you when I went for a consult, she told me there was no need to remove my underwear. That's when I decided to speak up and told her I believe that she was not willing to do this, from the moment I walked in, for what reason, I don't know. And I wished she could of saved us both the time and been honest from the beginning. I walked out and asked for a refund. If you are looking for Botox or Fillers I'm sure she will have no issues taking your money. Just beware if you catch her on a good or bad day. Or a day where she "just doesn't feel like" attending to you. Three words: Unprofessional, Demeaning, Condescending. read more
