There was an event just down the street and I knew that Al Peperone is a great place to get a pizza (one friend says "the best in the world," not sure he's eaten a good pizza in Italy before?) so I made a reservation for 1 hour before the event. At most places that's more than enough time for everyone to eat if it's pizza!
Not at Al Peperone! It took us 15 minutes just to be seated (I was not happy as there was a family of 4--we were 3 for our group--was seated before us even though they arrived a few minutes behind us!!) Then we ordered drinks and wanted to order our pizza right away as we saw how busy it was and knew we were in a time crunch. We told them this as soon as we entered and yet they still did not accommodate us in seating us quickly (like I said, we had a reservation and showed up on time and still they sat people they arrived before in a table). We ended up having a drink and put money on the table and left to get fries down the street instead. Sad thing is, they were so busy they didn't even notice us leave!!
The only reason why I didn't give them a one star is because I have eaten there before and it is pretty good....
One tip: don't go on a Friday or Saturday evening if you are in a hurry! We've heard that during those nights it is always full and can take around 2 hours to finish your meal!! read more
