Hiring First Edge to replace my roof last year was one of the worst decisions I have made as a home…read moreowner. If you want a contractor who will properly install your roof and honors their warranties when there is an issue then look somewhere else. They were fine to work with at first, their salesman was very responsive and helpful with working with insurance. But he left the company shortly after the insurance was approved and the contract was signed, and then it quickly became so hard to get a hold of anyone at the company. We went through 3 different project managers with them, each one worse than the last. It took months to get the roof and siding replaced, then months later I found out they weren't paying their supplier because that supplier threatened to put a lien on my house. We finally got that resolved in November and I thought I was finally done with them. But, now our brand new roof is leaking, I have water coming out of a light fixture, and water spots forming on my ceiling and getting them out here to do anything about it has proved impossible. This is supposed to be covered under their warranty their owner, Jeremiah, told me it would fall under their warranty and he'd be out in a week to take a look. That was well over a month ago at this point. Since then it's been almost impossible to get in contact with him. He doesn't answer his phone, or the company phone, and doesn't really respond to texts. When he does, it's just to say he'll be over in the next couple days, and that inevitably passes without him showing up or communicating to me in anyway. Dealing with First Edge has been nothing short of a nightmare, if you value your property being fixed properly, and a warrantied work actually meaning anything find another contractor. This one is not it.

I had my roof and gutters replaced in 2019. After the first rain, I realized the corner of the…read moregutter was leaking over my brand new patio. I called Them and they sent someone out. It rained again. It still was not fixed. They came out a total of three times and several times since then. Last year the owner came out and looked at the corner and said that looks like s***. They have added a bunch of caulk and silicone during their other trips to repair and now the corner gutter piece is actually rusting. Also, I had gotten into the attic about 2 years after they were here and realized they had put a hole through the roof with what looks like dropped a bundle of shingles. The owner came out again and told me it was nothing to worry about and if they had to take shingles off the roof they would never seal the same so I still have a hole. When I called again this year the owner said I could get new gutters for between 1200 and $1,800. What? The gutters that are on the house are only 5 and 1/2 years old but unfortunately we're not installed properly. I'm angry and disappointed in this business.

After receiving tornado damage to our roof in 2023 and reviewing roofing companies, we chose…read moreScandroli Roofing and are extremely happy we did. Chuck, Sandy, Chuck Jr., and crew were amazing to work with. With their already busy schedule due to the amount of storm damage in the Northern Illinois area, they didn't hesitate to come out and patch the roof so we wouldn't incur anymore damage before they could replace it. The crew was fast, efficient, and professional only taking a day to complete tear off, repair and re-shingle. They also kept the area around the house cleaned up as they worked. The most impressive deal is they stand behind their work with a 50 year warranty. In 2024 we had them install new gutters and downspouts. Again, the crew was fast, efficient, and professional. We had Chuck shoot us a quote early in the year and even though material prices had risen by the time we were ready for them to come do the job, Chuck kept his word and only charged us what he had quoted. Two years later for the roof, One year for the gutters and many more storms, high winds, and another tornado, everything still looks fantastic and has held up amazingly. We highly recommend Scandroli Roofing.
