Today, Keith and Edgar came to convert our wood burning fireplace to a gas fireplace. They came in and took off their boots so as not to bring in the snow . Every time they went to the truck, which was several times throughout the process, they removed their boots. They protected the work area with tarps. We were so impressed! They explained what they were doing as they completed the job. We can't say enough about how professional, yet very personable they were. They completed the job, gave us a great tutorial about how to operate the new unit, and cleaned up behind them. They even installed the new fireplace doors!!! Called to inquire about maintenance and possible replacement of gas fireplace. The "sales person" I talked with is clearly not interested in making any sales. She was rude, dismissive, uninformed and uninspired to do her job. She suggested I "YouTube" about how the fireplace works. After multiple attempts to prompt her toward some resolution of my issue, including my offering to have an entirely new fireplace put in, I gained no traction toward her making her employer business. She suggested it would be 6-7k for the job to be completed with replacement. He was patient and answered all my questions (and was never condescending, even though some of my questions were probably pretty dumb). Their promptness to come out an give an estimate was good. We were told our job would take 3-4 hours. In the end, it took 3 visits totaling about 12 hours, primarily due to showing up with wrong parts. They were late for each scheduled visit and only called to say they were running late after we called the office to complain that no one showed up. The workers and office do not communicate well. The workers left the first appointment when it got too dark for two workers to climb up and down their ladder with one flashlight, left the second time saying he'd order correct parts and call to reschedule but we were called within a couple of days asking us to pay the final bill since the work was complete. Had to explain that the work was not at all complete, which seemed to be a big surprise for the caller. Plenty of rain was coming down our stove pipe while we waited for them to come back. The work finally got done. Very shortly later, another call asking for final payment. When I asked for an invoice, the caller said they had emailed the invoice the day prior. When I said that I'd look it up, the caller said she'd just go ahead and send it again while we were on the phone. I checked the email and the only one there was the one from just a few moments prior, while we were on the phone. That was the second time we were contacted asking for final payment without an invoice-doesn't inspire confidence with me. I want to tell everyone about Advanced Chimney system and their poor at best customer service. I bought a $1000 large big green egg smoker from them a year ago and this process went well. 4 weeks ago my pizza plate broke and this item has a 3 year warranty. I returned to advanced Chimney Systems for this warranty. The person at the counter didn't know if it was or could be warranted, 1 week had gone by without hearing a word from them. I called back and was told the person I dealt with had a family emergency and no one knew anything about it. 2 more weeks want by and I received a voice mail the my pizza plate was in. I walked into the store and was hit with a $51.50 handling and shipping charge that was not authorized by me. The person behind the counter basically said pay it or no warranty. In my opinion a $51.50 charge for a warranty part is extreme to say the least. With that said I will never step into this store again and I urge everyone to do the same!! read more

I am certainly disappointed with this company. I had them install a brand new gas fireplace a little over a year ago. I have had nothing but trouble with the unit they installed. That is bad enough, however, I cannot get them to come out to fix these issues. Please choose another company to install and or fix your fireplace!!! We hired Advanced Chimney - got the quote after the rep that had come to our home, went to the showroom (an hour away) and selected the insert for our fireplace, set the date for the install, did all the prep work for the install, company came and did minimal amount of work and tried to take the excess stove piping that we had already paid for via the invoice. I am upset because the rep that came to my house told us that they would make the front trim look nice as well as hide the cord that runs to the outlet to run the blower (which has not fully worked properly since install)..... I have a two inch gap on my corners and the cord we it's still just hanging there, ugly black thing. My biggest and most upsetting issue is the install took place 11/20/17 and no one has bothered to actually assist in making this right. I did use the "contact us" on Advanced Chimney's web page and was responded to by Heather - given the brush off basically that someone would contact us, when no one did I contacted Advanced again and included photos with this message and was once again given the brush off of "someone will be in contact within 48 hrs", once again no response ever came, sent yet another message to which i got the reply of "i've passed your information onto Brad", no response so I wrote yet again in January to which the same generic reply of "i've forwarded your info to Brad"..... and it is now March with NO RESPONSE. I am looking into other actions that need to be taken, I intend to contact the manufacture of the insert to hopefully get assistance from a professional that actually might understand how a business is ran. - Just updating that it is June 1st and NO RESPONSE in any format from this company. - BAD - AVOID read more

We called Advanced Chimney Systems to our home last year because our gas fireplace was not lighting. They came out (and were very friendly) and told us they needed to order a part and would get back to us. The charge was around $80 for that visit. They never called back to repair the fireplace. This year we called them back because we still haven't fixed the fireplace. They came back out and again charged us $80 dollars to tell us the exact same thing. It has been over a month and we haven't heard from them, AGAIN. To be fair, since I knew the minimum cost for them to come out was going to cost us $80 I asked them to inspect my other fireplace. He inspected it in literally less than a minute and said it was fine. I feel totally ripped off. Don't use them! read more

The furnace has not worked correctly from day one. When the furnace has been used it's filled our home with smoke and on March 23, 2008 the Mchenry fire department was dispatched. Brinks alarm system fire monitoring called the fire department for us. The company has been out to our home 6-8 times and has failed to resolve the issues. I have called or emailed Advanced Chimney at least a dozen times with pictures and or concerns detailing all our furnace problems. I also asked Brad@Advanced chimney a few times to come and look at the issues, he has never once complied with my requests. I then asked Brad@advanced chimney to have the manufacturer of the furnace come and help diagnose the issues for a resolution. My thought at this point was, the furnace must be defective. I finally called the manufacturer (Energy King) on my own and worked directly with Bob Grimm an Engineer who then asked the President of Energy King to send me a Monometer to help give them technical readings for benchmarking purposes, they did and following a technical call to Bob Grimm to help install this Monometer, he determined that "Something was not working right with the furnace" Bob Grimm said he would need to visit us to diagnose what was wrong with the furnace. Following a few more calls to Bob Grimm to reiterate my plea for help, I was then able speak with the President of Energy King, Bob Moyer, he said he would personally drive the five hours to our home to look at the furnace problems. On Friday, August 8 2008 Mr. Moyer arrived at our home and after just a few minutes and some measuring, he determined the furance was not installed correctly and offered suggestions to fix the problems. One issue and the most significant was the length of black pipe used to exhaust smoke from our home was excessive (too long). Mr. Moyer offered suggestions on where the correct location for the furnace should have been placed. On August 16, 2008 I placed a call to Brad@Advanced chimney and left a voicemail and briefly explained what Energy King had discovered and asked how we can fix this issue amically. To date, I have recieved no call-backs from Advanced Chimney. I am left with a failed furnace installation and Advanced Chimney has been paid in full. We are fortunate to have had the help from the manufacturer of the wood burning furnace "Energy King" They were great and really stand behind their product. FIVE STAR operation! What a breath of fresh air to not only have the service man (Jay) show up on time but be courteous and HONEST!!! We scheduled a chimney cleaning and inspection but ended up not needing a cleaning. Jay checked the top of the chimney, and recommended maintenance but did not pressure me as he said it would likely be okay until next season. (While he was up on our roof, he asked for a push broom and swept out my overflowing gutters too!! What a kind gesture!!!) Upon request, Jay gave me options for our inefficient furnace that would allow us to use an alternative to gas. Cant wait to work with this family owned business in the future.
