Al Medina was easily the best restaurant that I ate at in Spain! The ambiance is beautiful and makes you feel like you're transported to Morocco. The staff was also incredibly friendly and attentive. If you have limited Spanish, don't worry! The staff is smarter than us Americans and is quite fluent in English! Most importantly, the food was incredible!! We were given olives, bread, and a spinach dip to start. Both were delicious! For our meal, we ordered Moroccan mint tea, berber salad, chicken tagine with lemons and olives, and the kebab assortment. The Moroccan mint tea was so aromatic! I loved the roasted peppers and eggplant in the Berber salad. My favorite kebab in the kebab assortment was the chicken kebab. I've never had such a juicy chicken kebab in my life! That was absolutely amazing!! Also the chicken tagine was everything that I've ever dreamed of. The preserved lemons and olives added the perfect flavors to the dish. Not the worst Moroccan food but not the best either. Chicken bastilla: had a lot of chicken but needed more nuts. Was sweeter in the filling than usual and the wrapper was very thin-- maybe not filo dough Lamb skewers were a little too salty and needed some char on the outside Lamb with raisins and honey: lamb was tender and not much fat. Nice location, warm and friendly service. Beautifully appointed inside, you can tell the owners take pride in their restaurant. The food was delicious. They served sweetened Moroccan tea and a small appetizer of bread with seasoned chickpeas in an olive oil and tomato sauce. Yummy. We shared a couscous salad that had peppers, dates, onions, and feta cheese, mixed in with fresh mint and topped with tamarind coated in sesame seeds. Delicious. For my main dish, I had a pastela (pastry) filled with cheese and vegetables, so savory with a hint of cinnamon and other spices, while my partner had couscous with vegetables. I had the most delicious bite of my Spain trip at Al Medina in the seafood pastilla. It is a mixture of thin glass noodles, a variety of seafood, potatoes and a perfect blend of spices encased on flaky pastry, topped by fresh lemon. Absolutely scrumptious!! This dish is ALL about the umami but also elevated with the fresh burst of lemon. Every bite is a true delight. I also loved the lamb tagine with dates, which showcased the best rendition of lamb - absolutely fork tender and mouthwatering juicy - and a delicate balance of savory and sweet, with a marmalade/glaze like mixture and sweet dates on top of the lamb. On top of that, the dish was topped with crunchy almonds for that perfect textural contrast. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with colorful art on the walls and equally decorative plates and china. We actually loved Al Medina so much that we dined here twice during our 3-day trip. Al-Medina is a must in Seville! The Moroccan cuisine here is delicious. I had the berber salad, mixed skewers and chicken tagine. Every dish was delicious but I especially loved the berber salad, it was so refreshing and packed with flavor! The chicken skewers were also so juicy and tender. If I find myself back in Seville I'll be going to Al-Medina more than once, you can count on that! read more

This was my first time trying Moroccan food and it was amazing! Definitely my favorite meal in Seville! I loved the chicken pastilla it was the perfect sweet salty combo! I had the mixed skewers my favorite was the grilled beef. You have to get mint Moroccan tea it was some of my favorite tea ever. I loved the chicken tajine with the prunes as well it was really tender I didn't love the bones or the pits in the prunes though. The couscous with the vegetables and sauce was outstanding also! We booked a reservation (through trip advisor/fork) because of the great reviews. We booked dinner for 8:30 pm early by españa standards. The server seated us right away. We ordered chicken pastilla, cous cous salad, and chicken skewers. Everything was absolutely delicious, I'm not kidding it was really, really good! We also had some Moroccan bread again delicious. Earlier in the weekend, we had tried another Moroccan restaurant in Cadiz and it was really rather disappointing in both flavour and service. Honestly, after reading the reviews and since we were passing by Seville anyways, I was really excited about finding a good representation of Moroccan cuisine. What killed the experience was the attitude of the ladies attending the restaurant. Impossibly rude and I don't know whats worse-- if they just thought we couldnt understand them (my boyfriend is Spanish but Im American) when they talked and complained about the customers (us and another table) right in front of us or the blatantly dismissive attitude they had in general. We had already had a tapa at another bar and just wanted to sit down for a beer and try a plate or two, and move on -- which apparently seemed to be offensive or imposing by the way they oriented us to the table. I had called at the other bar to make sure they were still open before and as we walked in -- the restaurant was completely empty but one lady im particular seemed to be extremely annoyed I hadn't reserved a table when I initially called (so much so the waitress kept making rude comments to the other from the dining room to the kitchen). They paid little attention to us the whole meal. We had wanted to order a plate first then see about a second if we liked it, but she pressed saying we couldn't order separately. The whole time during the meal, if they weren't making a comment about us, they were talking about the British couple next to us. The food was actually really good, to that end. But feeling uncomfortable and as if we they were doing us a huge favor by just letting us order really kills the meal. We didn't order more for that reason and can't imagine others would if they too understood what they had to say about the people sitting at their restaurant. read more

Combining two of my favourite ingredients in the same dish--dates and lamb--it doesn't get any better than the tajín de cordero con dátiles at Al Medina restaurant. Start with the date and the flavour lasts in your mouth as you bite into the lamb. Delicious. In the month we've been here we've returned on a weekly basis (sometimes more than once a week), savouring many dishes, including the chicken with almond tangine, the pastel de ave, the cous cous de pollo, the ensalada marroqui and the tajín de keffta. One of the best meals I've had anywhere in the world. Great service navigated us through the menu and landed on the exact right amount of food. This is important because of the tease of the menu could get you to over order. We had hummus, hirari, and then the lamb tajine. Some Mint tea, some red wine. All was simply perfect. Without a doubt the best meal I've had so far in Spain. We ordered the chicken pastilla and vegetable couscous. Both were freaking amazing. The pastilla had a perfect balance of flavors between sweet and savory and the pastry exterior was perfectly flaky without being too buttery. The chicken inside was moist and full of flavor. Same with the couscous. Probably the best couscous I've ever had. The grains were cooked well so they were soft without being mushy and it came with a sauce that tasted sort of like a broth. At the end of the meal, we got some tea that was minty and slightly sweet. I wish I had found this place earlier into my time in Seville because I wish I could go back for another meal. read more

Hidden Gem-the food was amazing! We ate lamb, chicken, and beef skewers. My favorite was a chicken pie. The portions were very generous. Cuisine gets all stars. I would also like to share a lovely experience. We arrived at Al-Medina just as they were opening for dinner. A gentleman was watering the plant which adorns the entry way of the restaurant. As we enter the restaurant, our taxi drives away. Within a few moments, our 13 year old son frantically informs us that he must have dropped his phone in the taxi. We all rush out of the restaurant to try and chase the taxi, but it is gone. My husband runs in the direction of where the taxi was headed (narrow, curvy, one way street). The taxi is gone. We rush back inside the restaurant, and the young hostess, Soukaina, immediately begins to help us. She informs us that there is only two taxi companies. We figure that it will be a long shot, but we will call the cab company. Unbeknownst to any of us, the gentleman watering the plant had bolted in the opposite direction to try and chase down the taxi. He sees the taxi, and takes note of the license number. He runs along another cab and jumps in hollering "follow that car". A traffic light halts their chase, but he pays close attention to where the taxi is heading. They finally catch up to the taxi and honk to have him pull over. He retreives the phone, and calls the restaurant. Soukaina informs us that her boss has chased the cab and has retrieved our phone. We honestly can not BELIEVE IT!!! We are beyond grateful and just can't believe that Farid (the owner) went to so much trouble to help us. We are amazed, grateful and delighted to have crossed paths with such caring human beings. We will fondly remember Farid's and Soukaina's beautiful attention. read more

After having Moroccan food four times in the last two weeks I thought this would be average at best but boy was I wrong in the best way possible. To start it was an intimate dining experience with beautiful decorations and very tasteful ethic touches. To start we are given an eggplant appetizer and warm bread which was amazingly flavorful and made great company with the marinated olives.
