Friends of ours had hired this company to put hardwood floors on their entire first floor and we…read morewere impressed with the results. We had wanted to do some upgrading of our own and contacted FHF to do our entire first floor: parlor, dining room, half bath, and large open kitchen family room area. We are talking about a 1000 square feet over all. The only area that had hardwood flooring originally was the foyer which we had them refinish. The floors look great. The crews were all completely professional and the project manager, Juliano, wants to make sure you are satisfied with the job. They ask for half of the cost up front with the remainder due when the job is complete and you are satisfied. You do have to live with a lot of inconvenience during the process. Primarily dust, a lot of dust, noise, and odor from the sealing. You need to move your smaller items out but their crew will remove your larger furniture pieces. Good time to have at least a two car garage. And they do put you large pieces back when finished. Overall this was well worth the money, time, and inconvenience.

The team arrived on time, took the necessary precautions to plastic tarp and protect the other surfaces and rooms from dust. The floors were sanded incredibly smooth, none of the wall corners or paint were damaged and it was ready for poly. Having kids and large dpgs, i couldn't decide on a poly type or even a finish, gloss vs matte. I put my trust in John's experience when he recommend the Bona Traffic HD matte water based poly. Along the way John communicated with me and provided progress photos and explained to me why they did what they did to ensure a quality finish. once the final coat was applied and cured, John came back to review the finish of the fully dried floor and to answer any of my remaining questions a about cleaning and maintenace. There truly is no better feeling than when you spend your hard earned money, and the result is even better than what you had expected and hoped for. I highly recommend the American Oak Hardwood Floor company. Thank you for being honest and quality professionals.

The Hardwood Guys installed floors in 80% of our house and refinished the rest. Aside from 3 dents…read morefrom oil cans in our brand new floor, we were very happy with the end result. Even now, we think they did an outstanding job laying new hardwood and sanding. However, 1 year later the floors were showing a lot of wear after supposedly using 3 coats of Duraseal oil based polyurethane. 4 years later we now have to refinish our floors. In multiple areas the color has completely worn away and in some other areas it's peeling. I even reached out to Duraseal to find out if this lack of durability is expected. They told me that it's possible if they didn't apply enough layers, didn't give it enough time to dry between layers, or applied it too thin or thick. Since we were not living at the house when the work was done we couldn't monitor this. Since they were sloppy enough to dent our new floor with cans, they could've been sloppy applying Duraseal. The companies coming in to quote us to refinish our floors are flabbergasted at the amount of wear in such a short period of time. Every vendor said it looks like they didn't apply enough coats. I'm not sure what the actual reasoning is. Hardwood Guys had competitive pricing. However, it cost us more in the long run. Now, we have to pay a second time, deal with dust, VOCs, and smell, in addition to being displaced with a young child to redo the work that should've been done properly in the first place.
