I tried their version of Pumpkin Ale as it was good. For dinner I had the smoked Chicken sandwich. The bun was large and not toasted. The chicken was okay but did not have much smoked flavor. I would return and just stick to beer. The service was good and ambiance nothing special. read more

Stopped by Akronym Brewing on a recent date night. We ordered two flights of beer, which were served nice and cold. The Kernel of Truth was my favorite beer on the list, followed by Czech 123 Czech 123. We ordered some hummus and some nachos. The nachos were tasty as was the hummus. The service was very good and the atmosphere was most chill. We'll be back for some of that beer. read more

Finding new Breweries is one of the things I love to do best as you can't go wrong with trying a new places beers with one of your friends! Coming here I wasn't too sure about this one but it turned out to be alright as the beer I had was definitely enjoyable but what happened next definitely wasn't too great as it would take me until the next day to figure out that they had overcharged me by two beers as I only ordered one! So the next day I noticed an additional charge on my statement knowing that I only had one I didn't see how this was possible so a few phone calls later I was able to get ahold of someone who was willing to credit me back the money as I don't live super close to this area so that was definitely a relief that I didn't have to come back. Of the choices of brews I had to go with the High Street Wheat w/ Cherries as it just sounded yummy and it definitely was alright as it was smooth and decent definitely something I'd consider drinking again. Overall this is a mellow little brewery and the whole visit was cool except for finding that overcharge who knows if I'll get here again but I'd be willing to give them another shot sometime in the future if soo I'll update until then cheers and beers my friends! read more

Original plan was to go to Barley House to watch the CFB Championship Game but apparently they're closed on Mondays now. Therefore we found ourselves at this brewery right up the road since as we drove by we saw the game on at the bar. Quite spacious and plenty of seating, although there were only 2 other people there last night, so seating wasn't an issue anyway. We ordered our pints, which come in 17oz instead of 16oz, which was interesting. Regardless, they had about 12-15 different choices and styles to choose from. My friend and I ended up getting 3 pints each during the evening and all of them were pretty good. None of the 3 I had tried were anything spectacular but all very tasty and had no problem finishing. I definitely plan on going back to try more of their selections when I don't have to drive. There was a kids section for well, kids to play, as well as a bunch of adult sized games to play like connect four. The only downfall when we went was that they didn't have food and no sound for the game. read more

Nice place conveniently located in downtown Akron near places like the McKnight Center. A long bar with ole Ty of seating and outdoor seating is available too. The tap list had a good collection of their beer. We sampled several in a flight I particularly liked a barrel aged barley wine named Pervasive. Relatively new is on site food. We got a hummus plate and pretzel bites. Good to have some pub fare to join with the beer. Staff was friendly and helpful. read more

Akronym is a really good brewery in Akron. It might be as good as Thirsty Dog. That's high praise. It has a pretty nice building. There aren't as many beers but there's still a large variety. It's located in the middle of downtown Akron. It's pretty easy to find. This is just hard to get to. It doesn't have a private parking lot. There is a garage right next to it that charges an hourly rate. I had the Exchange Street Hefeweizen. It's about $6 for a pint. This is kind of hoppy but it's drinkable though. Comparing this to Thirsty Dog, it's pretty good. It doesn't have quite as many beers. They still have a lot and I liked most of these. read more

Akronym Brewery is a pretty cool place. We love craft beer and craft breweries. They have a little food menu and may still allow you to bring food or have food delivered, but not sure on that. They used to let you bring food or get it delivered but now that was before they had their own food. They do events through out the year and this year had a chili cook off that was a lot of fun. They are right across from a great restaurant called Crave, so we like to eat there and then walk over to Akronym for a drink or two. They have a good selection of beers from light to dark, so most everyone that doesn't only drink Budweiser or Miller can find something. The staff are also very attentive and pretty laid back as well. read more

This is the second worst beer I've ever had in my entire life. The first is Natty Light. Did we order a Pilsner and a Hefeweizen or two badly brewed IPAs? Can't even tell. Same color, same over hopped taste. These shouldn't be allowed to have European styles attached to them. I wish we had beer laws and I could turn them in for this incredibly insulting brew. read more

This is my favorite brewery. The staff are fantastic and helpful with helping you pick out the perfect pint to relax with. It is located in the heart of Downtown Akron. They offer inside seating and outdoor seating. They have a wide selection of beers on tap and all of them are locally crafted. I highly recommend the Patty if you're into dark beer and coffee. However my all time favorite is their seasonal pumpkin beer. Their pumpkin beer has pumpkin and milk in it to make it a bit on the creamier side and top it off with a sugar rim it's the perfect autumn in a pint! As far as health guidelines go, no mask no service and all tables are distanced from each other. They also have arrows to avoid people from running into each other. And after patrons leave they are very diligent about sanitizing the area! read more

We met relatives here for the BBQ in the Biergarten. I didn't drink the beer but had wine instead. Their wine menu stated that they had Freakshow Chardonnay. They poured me Beringer Chardonnay instead. They didn't think I would notice-I did. To get to the Biergarten, you have to walk down a dirty stairwell or ride a dirty elevator. My husband had a flight tasting and liked their beers. You can sit inside or out. All in all..it was ok. read more

Oh so you're in Akron and you wanna check out a great brewery? Here you go! Doesn't get much better than this. Such a great location right downtown with a ton of energy from the city. The beer menu is creative and well thought out, plus the food is more elevated than your average bar food and it feels like there is something for everyone here. Easy to park in the parking deck and walk right to it since it's attached to the deck. You're gonna have a great time here. read more

I'm not a beer fan. I have been to many breweries and have tolerated them due to social pressure. The beer was absolutely delicious. I was impressed. Everything we got was very tasty. 1 star off due to a very funky smell, but we would have otherwise likely stayed for several more drinks. read more

This place was pretty cool. They do self serve water, so bring your bottle! They do provide glasses if you do not have one. There's also a corner full of games and activities. Even a Ouiji Board They do not have food, but you can bring your own. Whether it's a pizza, burger or your mom's spaghetti. I enjoyed every beer that I tried. They offer flights, as few or many as you want. I got them all. This means that all their beer is friggin awesome! The Pattie with Coffee tasted like a large glass of black carbonated coffee. It was awesome, but it's something you have to be in the mood for. Quaker Double IPA and Windigo were my personal favorites. Our bartender, Josh, was extremely personable and friendly. After a few conversations I was sad to leave Akron because I wouldn't be able to visit my new friend. He also informed me that there's a small industry discount, so if you're in the biz of serving others in a bar/restaurant setting, Akronym has got your back. Really cool new brewery right in the heart of downtown Akron. It has the Akron charm with nice beers on tap. I'm not usually a beer drinker but the High Street Wheat with Cherries is delicious! I was able to sample a few beers before committing which is nice. I bought the 5oz beer and it was just enough for me (I hadn't eaten and just wanted to hang out with my family). There is no food but some snacks but you're more than welcome to bring your own food or order some in. Which is cool! Trivia night is on Wednesday. You can bring food, get beer and play some fun trivia. There's tons of seating and a really cool bar where you can see the taps and the fermentation chambers (haha idk the official name) Super cool place to hang out and grab a beer. We road the freedom trail from tallmadge here for lunch. Love this place for the Cuban, hummus plate and beers great! The menu is not huge but the food is so fresh and a delicious including a breakfast sandwich on the weekend! read more

Briefly stopped into Akronym while hopping along the Summit Brew Path. It was a very hot sunny day, but their patio offered up some shade and a light breeze. Staff at the bar were pleasant. I tried 5oz tasting sizes of the Henry IPA $3 and the High Street Wheat Cherry Berry $2.50. Henry was better than the Cherry, but neither was thrilling my taste buds. So three stars for A-OK. Would be open to trying them again. read more

They just opened on limited hours, with cash only as of now. The downtown location is perfect, and they did a really good job with the space. It's going to be awesome when it's warm, the walls have large garage style doors built in, that will open up. This brewery has a really cool ambiance, and I liked all of the beers, especially the Test Beer, which is a white. I've been to about 10 of the Summit Brew Pass spots, and this was cooler than most. They don't have food, not sure if they will in the future or not? The owner stood on the bar and thanked everyone for coming out, that was a cool touch. read more

Bang for your buck: 9/10 Quality: 6.5/10 Service: 6/10 Ambiance/Location: 9/10 Overall: 7/10 This brewery is a little difficult to find if you're using a GPS (if you're from the area, you probably will be able to find it no problem!). Don't be surprised if you pass it once...twice...three times like we did. There is a little parking garage right behind the brewery that makes the whole parking thing easier, and the garage is even free on weekends, so that's a huge plus! The brewery itself is pretty small, but it's well lit, there's tons of seating, and it's well decorated. There was live music on the night we were there. Though it was pretty busy (peak time on a weekend evening), we had no trouble finding two seats at the bar. Dave ordered a few pints and I ordered a flight and a pint. There were several styles and flavors on tap, which was nice as I like to order a flight and sample a lot when I go to a brewery. The beer was okay. We noticed several of the beers had won awards and were eager to try those, but they didn't standout either. Despite sitting at the bar, it was difficult to get a bartender's attention and we wound up waiting about 20 minutes after we were finished to cash out. This sort of thing absolutely drives me insane, especially if I'm sitting right at the bar! I think other people had more attentive service though, so maybe you'll be luckier than me! read more

This is a really neat space. I kind of like that it's right in the middle of a busy city street. The patio was nice and it much bigger than it looks. It's a great place to sit on a summer day and enjoy a few beers - there's a bit of shade and a nice cross breeze. The inside is nice as well but kind of limited seating. It wasn't busy when I was there but I can see it being frustrating when it does get busy but due to the space they really have the maximum amount of seating without making it over crowded with tables. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The staff at the bar were very helpful and knowledgeable about the beers. Also they almost always had someone going around clearing empty glasses from the tables even when it picked up and got busy, so I can definitely see that cleanliness is important. They have a neat watering station that I really can appreciate so that you don't have to wait/ bother the bar staff for water. As far as the beer I got a flight and I found a couple that I enjoyed. The Pattie with Coffee was good which is an Irish style stout with Brazilian coffee. I really enjoyed the flavor - more of a winter beer but I really liked it and would get it again. The real winner was the Heart of Blue. Which was a blueberry beer. I'm not a huge fan of fruity beer but this just had a hint of it. Overall this is a great spot and I will definitely be returning. read more

This is a neat little new brewery in Akron. They don't have a private parking lot per se, but have a large parking garage literally right behind the business that is free on weekends! Yippee. Couldn't ask for a better location. The brewery is right on the corner and they have a great space. There's a big patio out front that'll be a ton of fun in the summer, and a decent amount of tables and chairs inside. You have full view of the brewery equipment behind the bar and a cool hangout area with board games and activities, and coloring stuff for kiddos. When we came on Saturday night, there was actually a party with little kids just finishing up. Pups are welcome, as there's a doggie bowl sitting underneath the water fountains for people. They don't have any food, but you're welcome to bring your own. Not sure if they're going to add any in the future. They also don't have any liquor or cocktails, to my dismay. I don't typically partake in beer drinking, but I occasionally enjoy stouts and porters, and I recommend their A Stout Winter is Coming (7.3% ABV). My buddies, who loved the vast choices of beers on tap, enjoyed the vast array of IPAs and choice of a few Christmas ales, which they put cinnamon sugar on the rim. All in all, not a bad little brewery and addition to downtown Akron. read more

Every year I wait for the fall so I can go here to get what I believe is the best seasonal pumpkin brew anywhere.

Staff was super friendly and conversed about the beers. The place was clean and felt comfortable. They had a wall of games you could play too. The bar has 10 seats maybe. There's a station you can get your own water. They have 5, 8, and 16 ounce sizes of beers, and crowlers and bottles and growlers to go also. The beer itself was pretty good. My husband liked the IPAs they had the best. In particular one that was a collar with Masthead (Cuyahoga Connection was the name) was his favorite. They had a saison, a wheat with cherries, some stouts, barley wine, and porter as well. They had a guest handle by Fatheads. The sign said BYOF (bring your own food). It's a nice place for downtown akron, and the building is modern and looks cool from the outside. I think it's a great addition to downtown. read more

Great vibes at Akronym brewery! The beer we tried was very good - both award winning brews. We also really enjoyed the sushi from ATAP (Another Thyme, Another Plate). What's nice about Akronym is how close it is to the public parking garage. One of my biggest reasons for not going downtown Akron is the parking, so that helps a lot. We will definitely be back to try more beer! read more
