The owner is so friendly and they ship it out super fast! We have tried all of their honey and our favorite is. The fall harvest honey. It is so good and can be used in so many different preparations. It has such a deep and rich flavor. I put that sh!t on EVERYTHING! LOL From teas to biscuits really the possibilities are endless... Now I'm truly so excited that they have bigger jars! That was my only complaint and now the honey gods have answered my prayers! This honey is so good I eat it just as a snack on its own! I found out about Akron Honey from a Yelp event and loved owner Wes's commitment to his community, the bees he takes care of, and to the environment. When I heard that he was selling a three pack sampler of his Middlebury, habanero hot, and bourbon barrel honey as part of a Virtual Yelp Event I knew I had to try it! Wes provided excellent communication and the honey was shipped out in a speedy manner. The honey was very securely packaged in an eco-friendly mailer and padding. Each glass jar was a petite size, and the package came with some recipes. I've tried the Akron Honey vinaigrette so far using the Middlebury honey and it's wonderful on salads. I loved all three flavors. The Middlebury honey is dark and has a pleasant, slightly tangy flavor to it. The bourbon barrel honey is AMAZING. You can really taste the bourbon in it, and Wes says it took a full year to develop this honey. The habanero hot is spicy as advertised and really packs a punch! It's a lovely combination of sweet+heat. As a honey hoarder (I've got varieties that range from mango to manuka) I was very impressed with the service and quality of honey from Akron Honey. I enjoyed several virtual Yelp events with the owner, Wes, that included learning about the business, and a cooking with their honey event. I just had to try the product for myself, as I love honey and local is best for allergy sufferers! I ordered their Trio that included Bourbon barrel, East Akron, and Habanero. Shipping was quick and came in the cutest little personalized package. Also included were several cool recipe cards! Each honey was absolutely delicious and go great with different things. I made fried chicken and topped it with the bourbon. I made roasted carrots and topped them with the habenero. My favorite combo was buttermilk biscuits with the East Akron honey! You can literally taste the pure freshness of their honey compared to store bought honey. I was first introduced to the Akron Honey Company from a Yelp Elite event in September 2018. HONEY -- They have all different types of honey. Currently, in my apartment, I have their Crestland Park honey which was harvested in Sept. 2017. It is super sweet so I only need to use very little of it for my tea. Their honey will last you a long time because you only need a little bit of it due to the sweetness. I love the Akron Honey Company! You may remember this cool small biz from a couple years ago, when they were a part of Lebron James' Cleveland Hustles TV show. Last year, I received the Akron Honey Company's Keepers Salve as a gift and I was hooked. I use it on my cuticles, lips and small scars (though, it is a moisturizer that you can use basically anywhere). When you love to shop (and your weakness is skincare/beauty), you know REALLY quick when a product sucks. But the Keepers Salve is an amazing all-purpose product. Its all natural, no animal testing and isn't super greasy, which are all things that are important to me. I subscribe to their regular newsletter and its been so heartwarming to watch them grow. The owner, Wesley, is a super cool guy who takes his work very personally. He integrates his family into his work and makes urban honey seem so easy. I ordered The Sweet 3: Mix-in & Drizzle. I am not only in love with this honey; I love this company and all that they are. 1. Ordering was easy. Although their online ordering through their website is not up and running yet, I contacted them through Instagram and got a quick response with a link to order this sweet trio of honey. It included 3 oz--jars of Bourbon Barrel Honey, East Akron Middlebury Apiary Honey, and Habanero Hot Honey. 2. It came hand-delivered to my door! Bonus points to Wesley the Bee Keeper!!! (It helps that I live somewhat local.) 3. The packaging for shipping was not only eco friendly but strong enough to withstand the shipping process-had it been put on a truck with a bunch of other packages. 4. Now, for the delicious flavor profiles that each honey delivers. -The East Akron Middlebury is the most family-friendly of the three. It has a fruity sweetness that everyone will enjoy. My daughter has seasonal allergies, and we find that local honey is a great way to lessen her symptoms. MAN!!! Yesterday I had a salad. "WooHoo, Karl who cares?" You should. Why you say? Because I used the honey vinaigrette dressing I bought from Akron Honey a couple of months back. That stuff was soooo flavorful with just the right amount of sweetness that even though my visit was a little while back I felt compelled to share my thoughts. "Hawwwney, you need to try this place."(say that in your grandmother's voice) Each of the products they carry have proven to be top notch. I also bought a couple of the honeys, a honey butter-yes I said butter and it is so good with just a little on toast- and lip balm. Please take time to visit this hidden gem.
