Some may call me a coffee snob, and perhaps I am, but honestly I feel like I have pretty minimum standards when it comes to coffee shops. First and foremost, they gotta have the brew right. So often local coffee shops have a tough time getting this right; the coffee is either too weak or too acidic. Akron Coffee Roasters wins 100% on this account, I notice they serve almost exclusively pour-overs or espresso, which is great because it means you'll never get that stale, sitting-in-the-pot-too-long flavor to your coffee. I should mention though that I didn't see any other items on their menu such as tea or non-caffeinated beverages. It would have been nice to see even a small beverage cooler or some pastries, but I do respect that they are focusing on a single thing and doing it really well. Secondly, I love a nice relaxing vibe. I don't feel coffee shops need to be too modern or trendy, just plenty of seating, outlets and some mellow music. Akron Coffee Roasters, although small, definitely has that going for it. There was a decent amount of people in here around noon, but I didn't have a problem grabbing a spot and having space for my things. There were some nice vibes here with the mellow music and quiet conversations happening around me. I will say if you had some serious work to do and get distracted easily, this may not be the best place since it's so small you do overhear conversations easily, but I personally didn't have an issue during my visit. The last thing I look for in a coffee shop is service; no one wants to feel unwelcomed or have to deal with snobby baristas when visiting a coffee shop, and I have to say that Akron Coffee Roasters did a great job here as well. They had two baristas working when I stopped in, and both were very smiley and hospitable. I am happy to put this coffee shop at the top of my list when looking for workplaces or a quick coffee in the Akron area, which is a great thing because for so long I felt that Akron didn't really have much in terms of quality coffee shops. Will definitely return here very soon and happy to recommend to other coffee lovers, although I am sad to report they don't have much at all for non-coffee drinkers. TL;DR- great vibes, great brew. It's a small space, but good amount of seating to go around. No options for non-coffee drinkers. read more

Coffee was exceptionally tasty. However the price was not. It was $6 for a small plain latte. Typically at places like Nervous Dog down the road 4 ish miles- it's $3.95. The best, just the best. If you're in Akron don't sleep! I have had many wonderful things here, but my favorite is the macchiato. It's a perfect combination of foam and delicious coffee. They also give you an appropriate amount of seltzer water to cleanse the palette. Who new Akron Ohio is on the map with a fantastic coffee house. Akron coffee roasters is a cute coffee shop downtown on high street. They do pour overs and espresso drinks. I'm not always a fan of pour overs as they are not always super hot but this one was perfect even after adding a splash of cream. My only suggestion would be to add some pastries to the mix. I'm sure there are fantastic local bakeries that would be perfect to add to the selection. read more

I can't believe that Akron has a speciality coffee shop, where the quality of making coffee is incredibly fine. Its what i have been missing guys for several months. It tastes unique.
