Enormous Norwegian salad @ Akis/ Buffalo
    Susan S.

Before I forget, this restaurant offers a discount to teachers, to veterans, to all First Responders, and to nurses: Essentially, people who serve the community are honored here. I had a lovely cup of avolemno soup, and then an enormous platter of a Norwegian salad, rich with smoked salmon and studded with capers, diced cucumber, and tomato. It's served with hot pita squares and taziki sauce. Did I mention I enjoyed this on the sunny patio in front? There are both tables with umbrellas and tables under a porch: Romantic in the evening with bulbs strung along the perimeter.

Loved my breakfast! I had the Lox Benedict which was great! The smoked salmon was perfect. Our waitresses were amazing and gave us a punch card to earn $5 after 5 visits! Food came out hot and quick which was great because I was starving. Place is small but cute. Not a lot of razzle dazzle because the food speaks for itself. I'll be back!

Generally, not impressed with this restaurant. It was our first time eating or ordering out at this restaurant. We ordered takeout breakfast consisting of three items off their menu. Two of the items were average. The third item was completely upsetting. That third item was supposed to be an Apple Caramel Crêpe- cost at present date $13. Cost value of what we received (embarrassing)- $2 at most!! The crepe was supposed to come with apple filling, caramel, custard, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and whipped cream. ***Please see attached photo and description of menu item which is posted online. What we received : Not a crepe. A thin pancake with canned apple pie filling in it, folded over, with cinnamon sprinkled on top. What was this??? This is junk. I just paid $13 for a thin pancake with cheap apple pie filling in it! RIP OFFFFFFFF!!!!! In fact, when we ordered the girl that took our order over the phone, even asked if we wanted powdered sugar and cinnamon on our crêpe.... to which I, who placed the order, responded YES. Yeah, despite even confirming that we got not one shake of powdered sugar present on our thin pancake. ADDITIONALLY - none of the other ingredients which were supposed to be on the order were present either. Not sure what's going on here....?????? I think management at this restaurant or perhaps the owners need to be aware and they need to monitor what's leaving their kitchen !!! Unfortunately, first impressions are everything and we most likely will not be back to support this local eatery. There are WAY TOO MANY fantastic "mom and pop" restaurants in Buffalo that put out quality food EVERY SINGLE TIME. Lazy line cooks = lost future business. That's a shame because we were looking forward to our breakfast from this restaurant.

2-2-2 with scrambled eggs, pancakes and sausage patty!

We visit this small diner for breakfast but realized I've never reviewed it! In this occasion my wife had the tomato juice and ice water and I just had ice water (had too much coffee already). My wife ordered the Vasilli's scramble which is scrambled eggs with chunks of ham and feta cheeses. She had whole whey toast and a side of fruit. I ordered the 2-2-2 with 2 scrambled eggs, 2 pancakes and 2 sausage patties! The food is always consistent and very good. Served hot! Waitress was friendly and attentive! The place is decorated nicely with TVs showing tropical views of Greece and the Mediterranean! We'll be back!!

We went here for breakfast on a Sunday :) good food good service cute restaurant ... a little disappointed that I had to listen to political news while enjoying my breakfast :/ Are you intentionally trying to alienate 50% of the population???

The almond square reminded me a bit of an almond ring, with almond paste filling layered inside a flaky, tender, buttery pastry. It had that rich almond flavor without being overly sweet, and the texture was spot on. The pistachio snack cake was soft, moist, and delicately nutty--simple but really satisfying. Almost teacake-like. The cranberry orange scone brought a nice contrast with bright citrus flavor and tart cranberries throughout. It had a great crumb and just the right balance of sweetness and tang. Loved the dried orange pieces. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. Definitely a spot worth stopping by if you're in the mood for excellent pastries!

My only suggestion would be to please separate the bagels a little better! An onion from an everything bagel somehow found its way onto my cinnamon raisin bagel. While I appreciate bagels making new friends, onion and cinnamon raisin are not a flavor combination I'd recommend. That little mix-up aside, the bagels were yummy and I'd definitely be back!

(Also- the hours online and Yelp/Google Maps are different than what's posted on the door.) I decided to see if the door was open in case the sign just wasn't flipped to "open". It was UNLOCKED, and so was the second door! I was able to go INSIDE the cafe, even though it was clearly empty and no one was there...no food in the display case either. I even called out "hello??" a couple times to no response. Why were both doors unlocked if the cafe was clearly closed (even though according to the hours on the door it should be open...)

The first thing I appreciated was, the Owners and staff members. They are genuinely, a very happy group of people. They are super friendly and engaging. I also like the fact you can dine in or even do takeout. Today I decided on takeout.. the serving sizes are very decent, and the prices are more than fair. I strongly recommend checking them out. Breakfast sandwich- choice of bacon or sausage. Really nice satisfying sandwich. I really like the type of roll that was used. Plus the sandwich wasn't greasy or sloppy at all. Breakfast bowl- For me, I was able to share with my wife. The to-go container was pack. Every bite full had meat, cheese potatoes, and eggs. The ingredient ratio was spot on. You didn't have to much of this and not enough of that. Chicken and waffle- breast was moist and seasoned well for my liking. I loved the waffle flavor. Whatever waffle mix they are using. They need to keep using it and never change up.

I was grateful to be in sturdy jeans rather than linen pants or a delicate skirt that could have been snagged on the broken fabric. Eddie, our server, was friendly and offered recommendations when we couldn't decide. Sadly, he was the only server working on a Sunday night and while the restaurant wasn't packed, it was busy enough that we waited longer than we should have for our food and our payment to be processed. I ordered the truffle fries which was the best decision of the evening. The malt vinegar aioli was an interesting accompaniment. I also ordered the gouda bacon burger. The brioche bun was fluffy and buttery, the burger (which I was not asked my cooking preference, med, well, etc) had a crispy char on the outside and was nicely pink throughout. I specifically asked for no chips, because if I was eating truffle fries, I was not eating homemade chips and I didn't want them going to waste. I did get 3 pickle spears instead, so the rest of the plate didn't look bare. My friend ordered the Walnut Brussel Sprouts and Pumpkin Risotto. The sprouts were undercooked and the risotto was cold and overcooked. The food options were pleasantly varied and I would have loved the opportunity to try dessert (I love creme brulée) but perhaps going another day when there are more staff. Sorry all, no pictures this time.
