If you like Japanese food, you'd be surprised to find out that there's a lot of Japanese in Paris, and I'm not just talking about Japanese people who immigrated or visit. I came across Aki Cafe thanks to a friend and who knew there'd be a few things around like a Book Off? So fun! I hopped inside Aki Cafe and it basically reminds me of every Pret-a-manger or something along those lines.
I grabbed a salmon onigiri (I can never resist these), a yuzu melon pan, and some other thing I cannot remember so it must not have left much of an impression. There were a lot of things I wanted to try, but I was supposed to meet up with friends so I didn't want to overindulge before I met up with them. I was surprised by how much yuzu stuff there was, so I was super excited to try at least one of them.
The onigiri was decent but not over the top amazing like if I went to Japan, but it's comparable to what I can find at home in the bay area (well, at least the one I got at Aki didn't have a bone in it compared to home). It wasn't spectacular, but it hit my onigiri craving. The yuzu melon pan was absolutely delicious with lots of yuzu flavor and the right crisp to the crust. Mmm, my favorite. And I cannot remember the other item I ordered but I think it was only OK.
This cafe is great for getting Japanese treats that you can't find everywhere, and it's a pretty decent cost for a bunch of filling food. If I went back to Paris, I'd come here to grab some snacks to take with me on my outing. read more
