I had a great experience with AK plumbing. I had a kitchen sink backing up and the trap was clean so it was further down the pipe. I called at 9am and got scheduled for the same day. Adrian arrived about an hour later (it wasn't an emergency, but they came quickly)! Checked out the problem and got it fixed quickly. He cleaned up afterward and double checked all of his work. Nice people. Pretty quick initial response. But... non-existent follow-up. Simple jobs might be ok but not convinced of the level of expertise. The person who came to the site was surprisingly inaccurate in his knowledge of hot water piping. (Didn't know how a "loop" should be installed. Believes non-moving water in pipes stays boiling hot for days. Etc.) Their claim to do basic follow-up in the following days with water heater manufacturer (who was not available during their late afternoon site visit) never happened. read more

I'd like to leave a good review but I can't. AK was recommended to me by a plumber my contractor wanted to do the job. He came out to look at the job but couldn't do it within my time frame. He spoke to Matt about the scope of work and Matt quoted an estimated price range for the job. The crew was very pleasant and cleaned up well. That's the good part. At the end of a long day I wrote a check for the high estimate. The not-so-good part is they had to come back 3 times, to stop a leak on a washer box they installed, and some water stop-outs were left loose. When it was time to connect the drain to the sink my contractor found that the drain wasn't plumbed into the correct position despite the sink having been left in position to show Matt where it should be plumbed. When Matt's guy came out he wanted an additional $545 to do what should have been done right in the first place. In the end the contractor did the work - took him less than an hour and with a negligible parts cost. read more

I called AK Plumbing, recommended by the water tank manufacturer, and spoke with Emily. She was friendly and professional; setting up an appointment with Ray for the next day. From the start, Ray was patient, professional, polite, respectful and informative. He called 20 minutes before the appointment to let me know he was on the way. This was helpful because I had another meeting overlapping with his. When he arrived, we discussed the problem. The water heater was still under warranty so I expected that the manufacturer would pay for any parts and for the labor to repair it. Ray explained that the manufacturer would pay for the part, but not the labor cost. I was not happy with this answer! I asked Ray to explain to me why that was the case. He explained again that this was the arrangement with the manufacturer. I asked again why it worked that way and why the manufacturer didn't stand behind its' product. Ray never took offense or got defensive. He just stayed calm and repeated that that was how it worked. Then I had to go back to my other meeting while he went straight to work to discover the problem. He texted me that the electronic control box had failed. He did not have the part in his truck, but could get it within a couple of days. This would have meant Day 5 of no hot water. Ray went above and beyond to make a temporary, but effective repair that would work until the new part arrived. I was so grateful to be able to do the piled-up dishes and take a shower! read more

My water heater went out, and I contacted AK. The first technician came out and got it started again. There wasn't a charge at all. I was shocked. Everyone else tried to charge me something like $95 in cash to come out and take a look. Then the heater really did break. I didn't call AK Plumbing back because I just decided to fire a text at the number from which they had texted me before to handle the logistics of the appointment. Guess what? Someone there at AK pays attention. They responded to my text and sent out Jason that day. There were some part issues, but he helped me get the parts I needed for my Rheem free of charge as it was under warranty. Rheem wanted to speak to the technician that did the diagnosis. That too was easy. Jason got in touch with them and followed through the whole way. There was a delay getting a part, but AK went above and beyond to find it somewhere else and have it shipped to my house the next day. These guys are THE BEST. They are sharp, their systems work, they are organized, say what they mean and mean what they say. The experience was efficient, fast, sensible, above board and overall excellent. What can I say?...Jason is awesome! I contacted him to help with driveway and garage flooding due to the recent x- heavy rains. I expected a visit in a day or two. Jason got right back to me and was at my home in less than 3 hours. My drain was clogged, pump had stopped working, it was a mess. He picked up the new pump, installed it and cleaned the lines, all during a complete down pour. He texted me an hour later to check the progress of the flooding. I called this business to set up a sink, faucet and garbage disposal. He was quick and a nice person, but the work was done incorrectly. I noticed it that evening, took photos and called the next morning. It said they open at 7am, but it sounded as if I woke him up. I asked to text over photos of the issue and he agreed. I never heard back. I sent another text and was ignored again. I had to hire another plumber to correct the problem. Rheem "Find a Pro" website pointed us to AK. What a MISTAKE! Rheem igniter failed, we were told by a Western Rooter plumber, on Thurs, Dec. 28, 2023. "Go on the internet and order the part," he said. Friday, Dec 29, the part arrived airfreight from SupplyHouse.com which stepped up to the plate and, being in Nevada, was able to next-day airfreight the igniter ($20) to us in LA for $60 shipping charge. Tot $80 but OK. We do not like cold showers! Part arrived at 4 PM on Friday. Outstanding! Called AK immediately to arrange for emergency service on Sat Dec 30 as AK promises 24/7/365 emergency service. Was told it would be arranged and to wait for a call back. Call back from plumber himself who reported, somewhat snarkily, that, yes, AK does provide 24/7/365 emergency services including Saturday but, unfortunately, not THIS PARTICULAR Saturday. Call to office revealed the "The Manager" had decided that morning to give one-and-all that particular Saturday off. (Likely Sunday too). But the receptionist to whom I spoke had not been so informed. So I wasted time and had no more time left in the day to try another, less holiday-driven, plumber with REAL EMERGENCY SERVICES AS ADVERTISED. I told AK I'd Yelp them and here it is.
