The quality of her work is amazing, you can never tell that anything done wasn't original to our clothing that needed a fix-up or adjustment. She is very quick with what she does. The owner is wonderful, but the owner has previously expressed that she wants to retire. It is showing in her work. She recently altered some items for my family member and did a not so professional job on them. She used different color thread than the garment, so it definitely shows up. Also, she made a mistake and did a seam on the outside of a shirt (dead center in the front of the shirt), and when she re-did it, she did it in a hurry and hand sewed it pretty badly. My family member doesn't have the heart to take the items back to her because she's such a sweet lady. She does an okay job and she's nice. If you're picky or are a more precise person and want the job done right the first time, I would advise to go elsewhere. read more

I used Ajo Tailor for several years for hems, she always did a good job until this last time. I brought in a summer top with the back a lot longer in the back, which I don't like, I asked her to make the back the same length as the front! She did a sloppy job, the back length is just a little shorter then what it was and it was sewn very poorly plus she charged me double the price as any hem she has done for me! I won't be using her anymore! That's it! If I can't trust that my clothes are done right then I will certainly go elsewhere! read more

I took a leather jacket to Ajo Tailor to have the lining replaced. It was a surprise for my husband's birthday. The seamstress wasn't there but lovely young lady was working the counter. Taped to the counter was a price list that clearly stated "New Lining - Leather jacket - $45". I leave jacket with them. I called a week later since I hadn't heard from them and the owner told me the price would be almost double. I told her the price listed on counter said $45 and she said, "No, it has inside pocket." So I said, "ok I will pay the higher price." Then she told me I would have to come in and pay in advance. I thought it was odd especially since it was for service. Paying half I could see but in full struck me as peculiar. She said, "Because of this side of town, people ask for stuff like this and don't pay. It's a lot of work." I said, "Ok, I can come in and pay". I go down the next day to pay in full. I asked about dry cleaning and she quoted me a price of $45. The nice young girl was there again and she asked the owner, "Why?" which indicated to me the owner was charging me higher. 2 1/2 weeks later when I go back to pick up the jacket, the owner was there. She gives me the bag then quickly walks back into the little closed off space. No "Thank you", no waiting for me to check, nothing. I take jacket and leave since I was on my lunch break. When I take the plastic bag off the jacket and unzip it, I noticed the lining was red! The jacket was a navy and orange (Chicago Bears) and she replaced the lining with RED! I thought, "That looks stupid! She must be colorblind." I give the jacket to my husband on his birthday and he graciously looked past the stupid red lining. But when he stuck his hands in the pockets, there was not lining!!! What kind of seamstress "fixes" lining, charges almost double because it has an inside pocket and doesn't fix the inside OR outside pockets????? I thought the very least she could do was contact me to tell she won't be fixing them. They are pockets! If she can hem, surely she can sew a pocket. My whole experience with this business was completely awful. I give 99% of the people I meet the benefit of the doubt (maybe she's having a bad day, busy day, etc) but there is no excuse for the terrible, awful service I received from her. Especially since my whole encounter happened over the course of 3 1/2 weeks. I will continue to tell people the crappy service I received from Ajo Tailor. My winter formal dress was done beautifully and I'm very picky but perfect fit, nice job.

I brought in my super simple wedding dress TWO days before the wedding. Yes. Two. I was stressed, a little nervous, and overly anxious not only in regard to the price that may be asked to do such a rush order, but whether it would be completed in actual time and look as amazing as I was hoping. She assured us it would be done the following day. She made the notes for adjustments rather quickly, making some of the best suggestions I couldn't have thought of myself under the circumstances...and again reassured me that it would and could be done!! "I will NOT leave this shop until it is completed!!" Low and behold, 5:15PM the next day I received the call - it was done! I drove over biting nails, and as soon as I stepped in, she grabbed my dress, set me up in a dressing room, and had me try on. It. Was. Stunning. Perfection. The best outcome I could've wished for. And the price?! ABSOLUTELY the best deal we could have imagined! We had priced around before at other places, and the price is what had scared me off of getting it done earlier. The owner showed such joy at my happiness, wished me luck, and was never once rude, did poor work, had miscommunication. I will definitely be referring her to others, and cannot wait to have more work myself to bring to her. Thank you!!!!!!!! read more
