Had a simple electrical repair that I didn't want to try myself. YouTube videos showed it was a five minute fix and in hindsight I should have done that. I was able to get an appointment the next day. Technicians were professional. On the downside, it was considerably more expensive than others would have been had I just waited another day (even with their loyalty program discount). Then a few days later they sent me seven texts at 6:36am begging for reviews on social media which woke up my family for no reason. While I've used these guys for a couple of years and actually bought their recommended Bosch heat pump in 2022, they can sometimes significantly over price parts. I have them service my units spring/fall...this spring during inspection the tech (all their techs have been very professional) suggested we replace the capacitor on the older unit, seemed wise. So this capacitor was a simple plug and play. The rub, I get the bill and they charge $420 for the capacitor! So, I check the web...the part cost $20...other people charge $175 to come out and install. Mind you, the tech was already here, with the part on the truck...and I spent well over $15k with this company over the last 4-5 years. So I call and question the charge, they tell me it fair and industry standard, which from other quotes, it's at least 3-4x higher. So I get a call from a supervisor, Jose...he's got an attitude and tells me, "do you want me to come out a take the capacitor off!" Extremely unprofessional. So, do I work with these guys again? 12/11/23. I used Airstream previously. The company is a bit pricey, but the service was good. Now my opinion of Airstream has changed - it appears as just another bait and switch company. My family paid for a HVAC tune-up for two units. After inspection (I'm not sure what more there was to it other than a visual and some measurements, and tracking debris throughout the house - the tune up part was never explained), Jerry the Tech told me there was "pitting" on an electrical contact. He recommended a service package of over $1,100 which would include replacing the part. I told him that I wasn't interested in a service contract and he offered a "band aid" (Jerry the Tech's words) of $385 which would include the repair. Jerry the Tech also said he could conceal some exposed wires on my unit, but he would have to charge me at least a service call. Wait, aren't you already at my house? Oh, and that's in addition to the tune up fee. Jerry the Tech showed me a picture of the "pitting" which I identify as simple corrosion. I guess I'm an old, out of touch geezer with an electrical degree, but all of this sounded really sketchy and overpriced. In fairness, I called Airstream and said I wanted to complain. As a business owner, I'd welcome customer feedback and the opportunity to do right. The front office listened, offered no explanation, then placed me on hold for a supervisor. After a five minute hold I hung up. "Cody" called me back, wanted me to repeat the story, and I declined. He sounded like a really nice guy, but Airstream has some work to do. Customers are not piggy banks to rob. Honest work for honest pay should be the rule, not the exception. Why do service trade companies always come with a "catch?" I'm sure these are all nice folks and are kind to small animals, but I won't be using Airstream's services again. I do not recommend this company. And for Pete's sake, please Google "HVAC Maintenance Plans and Service Contracts" before shelling out $1,100! Caveat emptor, baby. The lady who answered the phone was very cordial and made me feel comfortable and appreciated. The response time was not bad at all... within 2 hours of my call on a Friday afternoon, the service tech was at my home. He did a very good job fixing my problem. However, I cannot figure out why 2 hours of work and minimal parts needed should cost me $1360. That seems a bit ridiculous! Twice I mentioned being surprised about the cost and the tech was not forthcoming at all about why it should cost so much. The price gouging soured an otherwise good experience. read more

This company is the best! 3 years ago after a bad experience with another company sent by my home warranty company who charged me a lot of money and did not fix my unit. Airstream was recommended to me, they came out quickly and fixed the problem quickly, and stayed to make sure it was working, and I've used them for the past 3 years and have been SO happy! Affordable, dependable, responsive! So now, my very old unit finally died and they put in a new unit in less than 24 hours. Can't beat them! Helped with financing. The technician claimed that our unit had too much freon and charged us $377 to "recover" it. Shortly after, he tried to convince us to replace the unit without providing a valid reason. We didn't agree and called another company. The new company found that the freon was low, cleaned the coil, and the unit is now working fine without needing replacement. It's frustrating that many companies train their technicians to be more like salespeople than actual techs who can diagnose and fix units. Beware of this company. read more

I had three different heating/ac technician come look at my AC unit and they weren't helpful. It wasn't cooling my townhouse and one technician added freon but it didn't keep my house cool. The other two looked to and both told me my unit was working fine and to call them if it doesn't, which it hasn't been. The technicians at Airstream was very helpful and detailed on what could be the problem(s) and gave me a diagnosis of what could cause my unit not cooling the house. I would definitely recommend using this company as they just don't go the easy route to fix something, but actually look into the problem to make sure what the problem is and give you options on what they can do. read more

They had the best competitive deals after checking with several companies that offered similar products and installation. In the end, Airstream helped me make a great decision to replace my HVAC unit and through their professionalism, quality installation, and timely correspondence they made a customer for life. Considering I was acting with the patience of a 7 year old the night before a fieldtrip, while waiting on Christmas morning, in line to get a signature from Mickey Mouse, during a petting zoo grand opening.... To be fair, Airstream has the best customer service of any HVAC company I've ever dealt with. Their techs were always in constant communication, they showed up when they said they would, and answered all questions. BUT...you're going to pay for this service, and I mean REALLY pay. Like to the tune of 2x-3x the rate for other companies. I was quoted almost $3K for a job to fix a residential heat pump, where the refrigerant had leaked out due to a leak in the system. That's $3K for 4 hours of work and 10 lbs of refrigerant. Take away the ~$300 for refrigerant and you're at about $650 PER HOUR (parts were covered under the HVAC manufacturer warranty). That's INSANE ! I ultimately went with a different LICENSED HVAC company (and paid less than half that) when Airstream told me how much they were charging for the refrigerant itself - they were charging $150/lb (NOT A TYPO, YOU READ THAT RIGHT !) for refirgerant that cost them ~$14/lb and for which other HVAC companies are charging ~$30/lb. I'll happily pay a REASONABLE rate for quality service, but a 1000% markup on refrigerant, that's borderline criminal ! read more

Very friendly staff! I think we may have gotten a tech that didn't have as much experience as others in the company may have. We were initially told nothing was wrong with our AC unit and so we then requested a bi-yearly tune up, within a few minutes we were told something had changed, a part was broken and it would cost $1200 to replace it. We did end up using a different company, which we knew the owner personally, for our needs. We were told by the second company that our unit was fine and they proceeded to do a tune up and our AC unit was running very cool and has had no problems since, a $200 cost compared to $1200. We were initially disappointed and frustrated with our service that Airstream provided, a potentially unnecessary and expensive one, but when I called to discuss it they went above and beyond to make it right with us, offering to refunding all of our money. Again, I think we were a rare case of not receiving quality service, and the office staff was very professional about it. read more
