Was referred to this place by my orthopedic doctor as the traditional physical therapy didn't result in major improvements. However, with this said, I feel compelled to state that they DO NOT work with many major health insurances in Virginia. Moreover, there isn't even an option to submit a super-bill to your primary insurance provider, only the secondary one (see link of their policies below). My main frustration is that when scheduling an online appointment and entering my insurance carrier information, they showed my insurance provider in their drop-down menu. Then I got a call informing me that it would be a self-pay with a payment plan option. Per visit was something around $250. I have to state that typical healthcare providers that do not participate with insurances, still submit claims to your insurance company and you pay the difference for them being out of network. I've had issues with my knees for the past decade and my 'regular' physician has never been able to fix me. I had all but stopped running and riding a bike or using the elliptical was becoming painful. Through CrossFit Reston, they told me about AIRROSTI and how they specialize in soft tissue injuries. Over the years, the regular docs have told me to just wear knee braces and take pain killers, so this last time I went, they finally said I can go see a physical therapist. In comes Josh McCreadie, DC, he was able to get me off the knee braces and I'm able to jog/exercise without any major issues. He provides you the tools of foam rolling and manual manipulation of your muscles to keep you mobile. I went to Airossti via doctors suggestion, in hopes of healing and avoiding surgery. When I arrived at my designated time and place I was immediately welcomed. From first meeting until last my Doctor Marina Leonova was intently knowledgeable and would listen to me and explain what was happening to me as she mentally worked through the problem. She was always open and patient enough to take the time to tell me what she was doing before she would proceed. The procedures went well and took about 30 minutes each, then she would take me to exercise room where I was taught to move and strengthen the muscles that would hold these areas in place and I would be able to increase my strength. read more

I got a muscle spasm that I got while working out. Dr. R really helped me identify the issue, he worked the area and help give me exercises to help. It gave me a lot of relief really quickly without having to take any medication. I also went to him previously for a longer term injury that he also helped. Going to a chiropractor in the past never really addressed the issues I was having. They also expect you to go there forever. After 6 weeks of traditional therapy for my rotator cuff tear/impingement, I finally quit the prior practice out of frustration with their terrible scheduling and my lack of improvement - in fact I actually got worse. I thought, after I have surgery, I'll need a better practice. I looked at my Cigna benefits and stumbled on Airrosti providers. This surprised me because although I had heard of Airrosti before and heard good things, I thought it to be a bit pseudo science. But hey, it's covered and maybe a non-traditional approach might help me? My shoulder injury was a little strange after all - months of increasing pain doing nothing to aggrevate it, but certain moves, like taking off a shirt made me want to cry! Anyway, I asked to see Dr. Ryabinov after reading his reviews. Unlike the other practice where I saw a new person each time going twice a week, with Dr R, he wanted to see me no more than once a week, and I saw him each and every time. After very targeted deep tissue work, he (and his assistant) gave me very simple exercises (and equipment!) to do at home with clear instructions - don't do anything that hurts, and if it does, hurt, don't wait, text me (his direct number!) - We'll adjust the exercise. It was basically manual physical therapy, nothing crazy, just more attention to detail and more...methodical. Each week I saw improvement, and after 5 treatments, i'm done! I can do push-ups again without pain when before I couldn't even do a plank. I'm ready to return to volleyball and tennis. Another thing I want to mention that was great about the practice is that I could schedule/reschedule using my iPhone instead of playing the "do you have an opening" game with a scheduler. Finally, Dr R and his assistant Deyonne are super pleasant people. I know I'll be back to see him again - I'm not young and I'm hard on my body after all. Crazy Crossfitter, workout fanatic here! I was experiencing some lower back/hip/leg pain. I had first went to my primary care doctor, who happened to practice sports medicine. I was told that I had a strain and to rest. After about 3 months of rest, I started working out hard again, and the pain immediately came back. I visited a couple chiropractors hoping they would fix me since people swore by them.....and well, they couldn't. Totally lost on how to fix my injury, I took the advice from one of my coaches to visit Airrosti. Well, come to find out, I didn't have a strain after all! I am new to chiropractic therapy and this was an amazing experience. Even though it didn't fix my issue with my neck. Dr. Grillo was amazingly patient and open to research on my diagnosis. I highly recommend Dr. Grillo. He gave me multiple exercises go strengthen my muscles to improve my dystonia. My wife went for an appointment at their Dublin location and I am compelled to report here that she was disappointed. They charge $225 per visit and spent no more than a few minutes on the area in pain before they showed her some exercises. And then she was done! Upon asking initially, she was told, next appointment would be longer and it has to be done in 48 hours - which was not clarified before starting the process. Few days ago she visited them for diagnostic visit and there was no mention of a 48 hour timeline required between visits - how can one just plan on like this? My wife is not going there anymore - hope this company learns soon on how to take care of their customers. read more

I was referred to Airrosti by a friend for shoulder joint pain. I contacted Airrosti and gave them my insurance info, asking them to make sure that my insurance covers and pays because I do not have out-of-pocket expense, just like my friend who recommended. Airrosti called me back and confirmed that there would be no out-of-pocket expenses for me. I stopped going after 4 sessions because I found hardly any relief to my shoulder pain. To my great dismay, Airrosti billed me over 660 after my insurance company had paid. Then I vacillated between Airrosti and my insurance co. My insurance co said Airrosti is considered therapy treatment, therefore, only 30% is covered. However, Airrosti contacted them indicating they were classified as sports medicine specialist. I wonder if Airrosti deliberately misrepresented its service as SPECIALIST when they contacted my insurance company and got the answer to respond to me for not having to pay any out-of-pocket amount. read more

Dr. R asks conducts a thorough assessment to ensure that he truly identifies the root of the cause of pain. Yet another injury healed by Dr. Ryabinov! He cured my plantar fasciitis 8 years ago, knee pain 4 years ago, and now toe pain from arthritis. Dr. Josiah was great in assisting me with issues in both my shoulders and ankles. My ankle mobility was limited due to a basketball injury when I was a teenager. After taking up CrossFit I was determined to improve my squat, but my ankles (especially my left one) was very inflexible. Through 5 visits and home exercises prescribed by him, Dr. Josiah was able to get me well on my way to squatting properly. As for my shoulders, bad posture due to years sitting in front of a computer had restricted my range of motion. In the same time that he addressed my ankles, Dr. Josiah also went to work on my shoulders and I'm happy to say that my range of motion has been restored almost completely. I highly recommend him. I am a 42yo fitness instructor, and have sustained my fair share of various injuries over the years. Every time I have been injured in the past, I hated the dreaded multiple trips to the orthopedist or physical therapist, that is, until I discovered AIRROSTI. Their method of myofacial treatment followed by therapy *training* in each session -- where they teach you home care including exercises you can do at home to help heal more quickly -- has completely changed my approach to injury treatment. I no longer feel like a victim of an unknown random journey of endless PT sessions, and now feel like I am not only in total control of my treatment, but that each time I go, I actually learn key injury prevention techniques. I love their ability to keep treatments to four or less sessions per injury site, although Dr. R and his staff are so great that I actually get sad when I no longer have a reason to go see them. That said, I have been to AIRROSTI to treat at least five separate injuries now (all different areas of my body), and each time I have left their care feeling like a new person. I've had several aches and pains resolved by Dr. Ryabinov, most notably a back injury resulting in back surgery. I never thought I'd be lifting heavy again but he, and his team, gave me specific exercises to do on my own. Under 2 years later I am hitting big lifetime PRs again! Not only is Dr. R great, but the whole method that Airrosti uses is just so much more effective than other methods I've tried for various injuries, aches, and pains. I had been going to PT for knee issues when my back gave out bc I was over compensating on the opposite side to protect my bad knee. My PT did not seem to help my knee and now I had back issues. I had been to a foam rolling clinic and knew several other people who had success with Airrosti. Dr. McCreadie (Josh in the previous review) is no longer there but instead Dr. Ryabinov aka Dr. R. For your first appointment you receive about a 15 minute eval to see if you can be treated using Airrosti techniques. I do have one friend who received treatment on her shoulder and then needed a back treatment but did not receive treatment because the injury was too severe. I felt good trying them out because of others success and they will say no if they can't help you (and they don't charge for the eval). Each treatment for my back helped relieve the pain and tightness. It feels great to be able to move! After the back I moved on to the knee. The knee is a lot more painful treatment than the back! You will receive about 30 minutes of hands on time with Dr. R and then about 30 minutes of time with Joseph. Joseph is the Airrosti Certified Recovery Specialist. He will teach stretches, foam and lacrosse ball rolling and strengthening exercises. Both Dr. R and Joseph want you to ask questions and get you back moving! This is not a come in, go by the numbers and discharge you rehab. One disclaimer, if you do not do the exercises they give then your recovery will take longer. Stay on top of the exercises even if you think you are fine. If you are anything like me, you are active, not getting any younger and need all the mobility possible! read more

Physical therapy with Dr. Ryabinov and Anna is truly as good as it gets. My hip and shoulder were badly injured in a bicycle accident, and I was in a lot of pain. A few days before coming to Dr. R, I needed a cane to walk (I am 36 and was physically fit before the accident), and on the day of my first visit, I was still limping significantly. After 2 visits (and doing the exercises as recommended), my limp was gone completely. Anna did a great job showing me how to do the exercises, which were crucial to my progress. After 4 visits and doing the exercises, I was back to jogging and biking. Everyone at work was amazed to see me heal so quickly (over the course of 3 weeks). My shoulder has also shown significant improvement. Before beginning with Dr. R., I could barely use it for anything-- even using it to wash my hair was painful. After 3 visits, I can use it for anything but heavy lifting, and the pain has decreased drastically. The healing process is slower because of a torn rotator cuff, but I am very pleased with the progress it has made in a short time. All told, 6 visits (one visit treated both hip and shoulder) were enough to get me almost totally back to normal. In light of this, I highly recommend Dr. Rybinov and Anna for physical therapy and pain management. I went to Airrosti with ITB pain that started after running a long trail race in the mud. Dr. Ryabinov mobilized the hip and gave me rehab exercises specific to my needs. No one-size-fits-all treatments. Airrosti encourages active recovery, and I was able to run during the treatment cycle. After four visits, I was running completely without pain. And rather than losing fitness from the time off, the rehab exercises helped me get stronger. I was able to run a 50K weeks later with no pain and have been able to train at faster paces without aggravating an old calf strain that had kept me running slower.
