After several months (about 8 altogether, in two different referrals by doctors), I can say that Restore PT and Wellness in Ashburn is the best. I've had experience with other PT providers (MedStar, Inova). So my review is by comparison. There were good therapists and trainers in the other PT centers also, of course. But Julia Smith at Restore in Ashburn is exceptional in her attention, expertise, and focus on the patient's needs. I had issues with my back and knees (osteoarthritis) as well as a strained hamstring injury. With the therapy, I managed to reduce the pain, build up strength, and also work on flexibility. Kate at reception is always friendly, helpful, and tries to find slots and fit the patient's time preferences as well as needs to travel or take breaks for other reasons. Unlike some of the other providers, it's not impossible to quickly arrange an appointment to fix an in-person evaluation and agree on a training schedule. read more

The did a good job analyzing the problem and continue to tweak the course of action. The therapy.is not rushed and may take longer than allotted. I had high hopes for this place. Location was good and while I had to make my schedule work for them, I wanted to give them a chance. The staff is courteous and kind, but I don't feel they got to address my problem properly. I also was not entirely satisfied with the value that management provide, not being always present during work or service hours is a problem . Insurance issues and payments could not be properly addresses and resolved when certain administrative staff is not present. Finally, one day trying to return I was quoted differently from previously agreed amounts for the service. I was expecting continuity and loyalty to me as a customer, but that didn't happen. Suffice to say that I will now have to find another provider, fortunately for me there are plenty of good PT places in Ashburn. read more

My physical therapist Leyla was a life saver. Leyla's knowledge and expertise helped me to recover quickly from severe neck pain. Leyla immediately restores confidence in your ability to heal and overcome limitations. I had PT twice weekly for a torn rotator cuff in my shoulder for several months with Julia Smith at Restore Physical Therapy and Wellness in Lansdowne, Va, now Fyzical Balance and Therapy Center. It helped a lot, reducing or eliminating chronic pain, restoring mobility and strengthening my shoulder. As I progressed, Julia altered the therapy accordingly to spark more progress, and gave me at-home exercises that I do to this day to good effect. I will try to keep this to a minimum but there are just so many wonderful things to say about the atmosphere of this place, the incredible knowledge, talent, and empathy the staff has for everyone that walks in the door EVERY SINGLE DAY! Most PT places around the Loudoun area deal with sports injuries so my family and I have found it rather frustrating during the years to find a PT place to stick with for the full duration of treatment for past injuries. In my mother's case, she needed a PT place that was really going to focus on her and the severity of her injury without making her wanna give up after a few weeks. A place that would motivate her to keep wanting to come back;heal faster and conquer her fear of her injury. My mother had a freak accident over the summer and fractured her hip in two severe places. She's not even 55! Luckily no hip replacement but 3, 3 inch screws to help the bones heal back together. So a long recovery process! I did some research online and a good friend who had also had PT done here with Kim, highly recommended Restore . I thought that was enough for me to call and make an appointment. I took my mother to have an evaluation with Betsy and she's is still working with my mother to this day. My mother has made so much progress and it makes me smile every week we come because she is excited to come. I feel like she progresses every week and it shows! I don't know about you but that is very encouraging! I know once she is finished with her therapy she will also leave a review but I felt it necessary to leave one now because Kate one of the owners, Betsy, and all the other staff members have just made this such a memorable experience. They really want to help with personal success and help the families cope, help, and keep a positive spin on things. How do I fully communicate my love for this place?? I went to several other PTs before this one, and can wholeheartedly say this is by far our area's best. I saw Viraj, who was outstanding, and she successfully helped me decrease the frequency of terrible tension headaches though stretching and postural work. This place takes a holistic view on health, meaning they look at many factors behind the pain you're experiencing, not just taking a simple approach. For me, they incorporated shoe insoles (which they make for 20-30 bucks!!), postural rehabilitation, deep tissue massage, ultrasound technology, electrical stimulation, and Pilates and yoga moves to build core strength to permanently deal with the real problem. I know they also offer dry needling and other tools, too. Can't recommend this place enough!!!! read more

Kim Horton, Owner and Physical Therapist at Restore PT and Wellness, guided me towards healing and mobility after a hip fracture accident. When I first met Kim and her caring team, I was 12 weeks out from a hip pinning surgery and was in pretty rough shape. My recovery began after 3 months of weight barring restrictions and utilizing a walker. All of my muscles were terribly weak and I was pretty discouraged. Kim helped me rebuild my muscles and quickly regain mobility with a cane. When that surgery ultimately failed to repair my bone, Kim recommend a new Orthopedic Group and Surgeon. I once again turned to Restore to help me recover after my second hip surgery to replace my hip and rebuild my upper femoral bone. From start to finish I have been treated with respect, kindness and a whole lot of encouragement. Restore is truly restorative and a haven after a debilitating accident. Kim is one of the best physical therapists I have ever met! I had foot and heel surgery about 6 months ago. After the surgery, my foot was incredibly twisted and my heel reconstructive surgery caused my foot to be outwardly inverted so that I could only walk on the outside of my foot. I had extreme problems with walking on it because every time I took a step I had severe pain and swelling. After the surgery, I was non-weightbearing for 8 weeks and then in a boot for another 4 weeks while walking with crutches. Five and a half months later, I was not walking much better but went from two crutches to one. When I tried walking without the crutches, I blew out my knees and could not walk for two days. Originally, I went to the physical therapist at the foot surgeon's office who made my problem increasingly worse, and being diagnosed with RSD. The surgeon could not recommend anyone else for me to see, but told me to switch therapists at the office and to go to a pain doctor. I switched therapists at that office. The second therapist was slightly better but still did not know how to treat someone like me (which they should since they are attached to the orthopedic's office and should know how to treat feet especially a foot which underwent surgery). However, months later I was still using a crutch and still in severe pain every time I walked and stood. I also went to a few pain doctors who wanted to treat me with a sympathetic nerve block or ketamine. Within one time after going to Kim, I already felt my foot hitting the floor better and feeling a little less pain. Kim rubbed out my scars (something the other therapists refused to do) and she listened when I told her I thought my leg was causing some of the problems (which the other therapists just laughed off indicating "let's get the foot working then we can worry about the leg"). She has state of the art equipment and knows how to treat a patient's problems especially those patients who suffer with fibromyalgia. During the first session she told me to get rid of the crutch, but instead get a cane (short-term) for stability. She also indicated that she thought my pain was due to the mechanics of walking rather than sympathetic nerves. Two days later, I went to see Kim for the second treatment and I can't even begin to tell you how much relief my foot already has. I can finally put my foot down without feeling such shock of pain, and I am walking much smoother. I do not live near her office but am willing to drive over a half hour away to get to the appointment. I wasted five months of my life living with pain and not being able to walk and now in two sessions I finally see some hope and feel happier than I ever did in over 6 months. read more
