We were kind of disappointed when the train suddenly stopped and we went in reverse back towards the pickup/drop off point. Don't know what we expected, but we had hoped the scenery was a lot more than what it was. Weird place to just "stop" in the midst of trees and go back. If you are looking for something to do to kill a few hours, this will fit the bit. It's very gingerly narrated, so if you have kids, they might be bored. Heck, even if you don't have kids, you might be bored too. But it's affordable.

This time, my mother and I were headed to Penn Station. My brother accidentally dropped us off at Mystic. So we missed our first train. I called Amtrak, and they changed our reservation. We took a Lyft to New London, as the Mystic Henny Penny had no seating. We were relieved to find Joe's Java, and enjoyed some coffee as we waited for another train. A perfectly pleasant station, with lovely high ceilings and seating. The indoor temperature was perfect, not too hot or too cold, and the restroom was clean.

Boston (in) bound tracks are on the parking lot side of the station. Providence (out) bound tracks are accessed using the pedestrian overpass. This is a fully 'outside' station so dress for the weather. Purchase tickets on the train. Temporary bathrooms and portajohns are currently available for customer use while a permenant bathroom facility is constructed. A metal fence seperates parking from the station and buses. Walk toward the left side of the fence, near the bathrooms, to enter. Bicycle parking is located by the bus stops. The station is in good condition. A few restaurants, bars and visitor info center are within a 15 minute walk of the station. Check the MBTA website for schedules, routes, prices and delays.

The app is excellent, and both South Station in Boston and Moynihan in NYC are great stations. Lots of food choices at both locations and tons of clear signage. Even when my train is delayed (twice from nyc to Boston) it's always an easier and more convenient choice than flying.
