The train operator for the Republic of Ireland with its main hub in Dublin but spokes leading out to much of the Republic. I did not take any of the long distance trains, just commuter hops on the line between Connolly Station and Maynooth (Maigh Nuad in Gaelic). Most of the time, the trains were on time. Smooth running, clean, efficient, with wifi on board. Never completely crowded except the rush hour schedule which is understandable. I did once almost miss a train because it's nearly time to depart but the track is empty. I learned from one of the staff in Connolly Station that the app might indicate one track number (in this case, Track 4) but the displays in the station show a different track number (Track 7). The 17 was a funny bus - it could sometimes be single decker, sometimes double decker, and almost always showed up late or just fully went missing! It was a great bit of fun, standing in the cold, shivering in the sea breeze at Blackrock DART station, waiting to see if the bus would show . . . Even the ancient art of lighting a cigarette couldn't guarantee the arrival of this silver slug (that's the opposite of silver bullet). Anyway, this bus took you places. Usually, uh, places you didn't really need to go, at a pace that even a yummy mummy could out-do, but we loved it, cherished it, and will honour its memory by standing wistfully for hours at its previous stops, like the good old days!

Arrived at the Dublin Airport in Ireland after more than 24 hours of travel, missed connections…read moreand missing bags. To say that we were already unhappy would be an understatement, but in an effort to get our vacation off to a happier restart, we opted to travel with Irish CityLink to make our way from the Dublin Airport to Limerick where our hotel was waiting. We met a lovely airport employee who helped us find the correct Zone (Zone 10 for those of you who will be coming this way and need to get from Dublin Airport to Limerick) and managed to find the right bus stop, but unfortunately had just missed the 8PM bus. Although we were told by numerous people in the airport that we could just pay the bus driver and travel, with the 10PM being the last bus heading to Limerick and it being a Friday night, we decided to book fares for myself and my husband just to be sure we had seats. That's where the trouble began: the site wasn't working and reservations weren't possible (verified by several people we talked to that were all having challenges trying to make reservations), asked one of the drivers for Zone 9 for some help who didn't seem to be very knowledgeable or didn't want to take the time to assist (weren't sure which is was), and was chastised by a baggage handler who to told us to make a reservation and then and wished us good luck and told us to we should be better organized when we told them their site wasn't working. I'm guessing customer service isn't their strong suit since their offices were closed and their people are empowered to help. We ended up taking Flight-Link to a town pretty close to Limerick and then took a an Uber to our hotel. So far, not impressed with the customer service or food in Ireland yet! Will keep you posted.

One driver was a bit much, and there was a point where you did think, just be quiet for one minute!! But, in the main, very informative, funny and a great way of just seeing all the places. I think if you do this first, when you get to Dublin, you can then decide what you want to go and visit and then plan from there, and also have some understanding of where is it and how to get there. The location is very nicely lit and the design of it is very easy to navigate and figure out, even if it is your first time here. There is security all around so I felt safe while I was here, waiting for my tour to begin. I will say I do wish there was more seating because as soon as I got up to grab a coffee, people were trying to swoop in and take my spot. I also wish there was heating here, I felt like an ice cube while I was waiting around in the seating area. There is a handful of places to grab some food and drinks and the coffee stands had some reasonably priced coffee that I decided to get while waiting. The flavor was nice and helped keep me warm while I sat and waited! Bathrooms were also very clean but got busy very quick when the station started getting more and more people in as the morning was progressing.

The ticket agent at Dublin station sold me a multi day pass for $128 euro that does NOT allow you to book an actual seat. Be fair warned. Most of the sites that we went to were very easy to get around. I enjoyed the commentary on the buses, both pre-recorded and live. The bus drivers were knowledgeable and funny! We also did the Ghost bus tour. They were very accommodating. We missed our 7 PM time to get on because our cab didn't get us there on time. But we were able to get onto the 9 PM tour. These people were also very accommodating while I was using a folding wheelchair this night. This tour was scary and funny too. Our hostess Susan was the best!

Well... probably THE worst taxi company I've ever come accross…read more yes, it's 20% offf but unless your willing to put up with the rude, incompetant staff and drivers that they have there, your better off going for a different taxi company that is really only 2-3 euro more expensive. Not only was the man on the phone, the receptionist, rude and a generally vile person to deal with on the phone, he was probably as useful as a rice cracker! The driver turned up... but for about a minute drove off and then rang my number. What use is that ringing me and then driving off? I rang the company back and they said they could not send another driver or the same one as when he arrived there was someone staring out the window at him and made no effort to come out. This might be believable if there had been anyone else in the house at the time apart from myself.... but there wasnt. Just me and I certainly didnt stare out the window at him, no beep, no phone call to say he areived until after he left. Called a differwnt company and got a polite and friendly driver and an even more efficient man dealing with me on the phone. DON'T CALL ASAP unless your willing to put up with rude people and seemingly bad drivers.
