We live 7 miles outside of Coeur d Alene. We thought Air-pipe was our only option. Absolutely the slowest, most intermittent internet service we have ever had. We are maxed out on their available speeds. Tech/ service guys are very helpful and nice but even they can not overcome the limitations of their technology. Neighbors just got Verizon's 4g LTE service and have no problems. Looks like we will be going that route. Sorry Air-pipe... we gave you three years to fix the service up here on the Cougar Gulch relay. Three years too long. From their business description, "Perfect for gaming or watching videos online" = total joke. If you enjoy watching 5 to10 sec snippets of a video at a time, this is the internet service for you. read more

I'm sitting here writing this review on my verizon hotspot, because my Air-pipe internet just won't work for us out in Hope. Over the last 2 years, I have put in multiple calls for support, and all I ever get from them is that things seem to be working correctly. Full disclosure, I'm not a strong networking guy, but I am a computer programmer professionally, and I know enough to do something more than just the basic troubleshooting of restarting router/modem. I've done everything I can to isolate the problem, and I am certain it is not on our router or modem. For instance, I turned off the wireless, and connected just one device, and when I do a speed test on multiple services, I'm getting between 33-70Kbps. If you recall, Dial up is 56.6 Kbps, and so if I'm lucky I'm slightly better than dial up, and if I'm not, i'd be better dialing into AOL. Certainly am not getting 2-5Mbps (2,000-5,000 Kbps) they advertise. There seems to be no desire on Air-Pipe's part to fix these internet issues, and every year my internet get worse and worse. I mentioned that I'm writing this review on my Verizon hotspot, and that is because as of late (the last 6 months) there are large periods of the day where I just can't get any internet connection. It'll connect to the router, and say I have internet, but nothing ever loads. read more

Im writing this review using my Verizon wireless connection because, AirPipe is down again. I've been with their service for about 4 years now and unfortunately this is my only option at this point. I work remotely in the tech industry and rely heavily on the internet. The Air pipe service goes out nearly everyday for periods of time for what seems to be no reason at all. I am currently on their fastest plan and pay $130 per month for speeds that average 2-3 mbps. I am really excited about the new LEO satellite options coming online in 2020 and will be jumping to one of those services as soon as they are available. I generally do not write bad reviews (especially of local companies), but I am super frustrated about paying so much for so little (and sometimes nothing at all). read more

The service has been SO bad that I finally just told them to cancel my account (See the attached photo .... that's what AirPipe calls "good" for $79.95/month. When I told them to close my account, come and get their equipment and refund me for the unused portion of the month I prepaid, I was told I had to give them 30 days notice and .... check this .... as such, I owed them MORE money for the month and, by the way, they'd call me in 30 days or so to schedule someone to get the equipment from my place. AirPipe's service (both technical and administrative) is terrible .... perhaps some of the worst I've experienced in many years. Use these guys at your own risk or, if like me for a lot of years until recently, there are simply limited other options available and you simply must grit your teeth and bear it because it's all that's available in the market. That's not the case anymore and I certainly wouldn't expect AirPipe to survive giving service like this. Frankly, I'm so irritated I'm considering a visit to small claims to collect not just my refund for the month, but a reimbursement for the months of pathetic service I've received this summer. These guys give new meaning to "pathetic" in the areas of quality of service, customer support, integrity and ethics. read more

AIR-PIPE Rural Broadband Internet - This to a customer since 2008 who, after repeated concerns over deteriorating service levels, requests cancellation? Uhh, me thinks not. - Internet Service Providers Near Me - Spokane, Washington

I first became a customer of Air-Pipe in 2003, and stayed with them until about 2014. By then, their speeds were slower and costs were higher than what was one of the only other options for rural Spokane - Cougar Wireless, so I went to Cougar. It was OK for a while, but speeds became really bad on Sundays, and every time I had to call for a service interruption I had the displeasure of speaking with Janet, their President and Chief Rudeness Officer. Recently, their service was out again for me and they dispatched a tech the next day to look into it. That's a $75 charge for the customer, even if it's the fault of Cougar Wireless. In this case we were told that their radio, installed on the outside of my garage, had died and it would cost us $250 to replace it. I was neither home nor in cell phone service, so Janet spoke with my wife over the phone, who initially declined to have it fixed until Janet told her that we would have to pay for it whether they fixed it or not! My wife begrudgingly authorized the charge to the credit card on file with Cougar Wireless. After I returned home I called Janet, who seemed to take pleasure in arguing with me for 15 minutes and finally challenged me as to what I was going to do about it. I ended up cancelling their service and filing a dispute with the credit card company. While the dispute was still open, she threatened to turn me over to a collection agency if I did not pay the bill (again) within 4 days. This is against VISA's rules for merchants while a dispute is open. Not only that, but she billed not the current credit card on file and the one that had been used for auto-pay for the previous two months, but instead billed the previous credit card which I had told her two months prior was no longer to be used! Why did Cougar Wireless still have that information on file?? I can tell you that in my 53 years I have never dealt with a business so rude and viciously committed to taking a customer's money as Cougar Wireless. So, as to Air-Pipe...it turns out that a year or two after I left them, they upgraded their equipment. When they came out to do a site survey, they spent a great deal of time in figuring out how to obtain a clear signal because I had a lot of interference from pine trees. They didn't give up and finally found a spot and did a very professional install. My upload and download speeds test at 3-4 times faster than the speeds I had with Cougar Wireless, and for less money per month as well! So far they have been pleasant to work with and I haven't had any service interruptions. read more

You will pay for the equipment and install, but the equipment is not yours, and if there is any problems, these folks will happily charge you 89.00 per hour to correct the problem. Piss poor business ethics, but 1mbps internet if you can see Mt Spokane and if there are no clouds between you and the mountain. Wind wireless offers the same for half the price AND YOU OWN THE EQUIPMENT! read more

**BEWARE ** Horrible company, fraudulent claims of services offered, terrible customer service... Unfortunately, living where I do, it was the only service I had available. I was constantly lied to about the origin of my continuous service problems, and when confronted with the facts their answer is always "it's out of our control", "you are free to leave". I wish there were a - STARS category... pathetic beyond belief. What they are doing should be criminal. Stick with dial-up it's just as good (joking, sort of) and more reliable (absolutely). Thankfully another company started offering service in my area, it's AWESOME to get what I'm paying for. Getting higher bandwidth and VOIP for less money as well! read more

I read most of the other comments; recommended and not, and they made me feel very fortunate. I am not in business. I have not received anything from the companies mentioned here in return for this post. I am semi-retired and don't have the same pressures on my time as many others. The predictable limitations of a rural Internet service are pretty much OK with me. Yes, there are times that I am disappointed with it, like in the evening when we are watching TV streamed from the Internet and it goes down, but we live in North Idaho, and there is never not something else to do - even when the electricity is out, we can change our plans and watch TV some other time. I am so grateful to have a service that when it is working, it is sooo much better than dial up ever was and not so unreliable, really. Also, I know they are working to improve it; slowly, but working at it. After all, it's not like they are charging everyone a fortune each month just so they can pay their executives millions without regard to the level of service received. For all of our wonderful snowbirds who have chosen to come to our area for their seasonal travel, planning ahead and having Verizon hot spots available is really smart. Not everyone can afford them; for the rest of us, there is Air-Pipe and Wow-Tel more often than not. Thank you, Wow-Tel and Air-Pipe. PS - Mac has been replaced by a polite young lady who is attentive and helpful, not ignoring John, the engineer (?) who checks out stuff when Marc gets a little off duty time and not in the area at the time things may go awry. read more

I live in the boonies in Spokane and Air-Pipe and Satellite are my only high speed Internet options. Dish satellite network uses Wild Blue for it's satellite Internet service. However if you check the Internet there are hundreds of reviews of Wild Blue and the reviews are negative two-thirds of the time due to latency problems, limits on downloads and low speeds. Air-Pipe has no latency problems, no download limits and reasonable speeds. I have a 900 MHz YAG antenna I had to mount in my front yard to get a direct view of Mt. Spokane where Air-Pipe has an antenna. They have other antenna locations and 2.4 GHz service if you have a direct view of one of their antennas and are within about 15 miles of the antenna location. Air-Pipe speeds are typically around 512 kbps up and down (for my 900 MHz connection) which is 100 times faster than dial-up. However that is around 10 times slower than DSL or a cable connection. But for most Internet needs 512K is very adequate although I envy my brother's cable Internet which is obviously much faster. The only limit we have found is trying to use the Internet for teleconferencing using MSN Messenger for instance. It just won't work because the speed is too low. Social web site videos do work fine however. Air-Pipe antennas are on mountain tops and when there is precipitation and it's below freezing on the mountain there is a drop in signal strength but the connection is still OK. This I believe is due to ice on the mountain top antenna. Service is pretty good from Air-Pipe and they are very friendly and responsive. Installation is not cheap depending on what contract you sign. Bottom line on all this is that Air-Pipe is great when you don't have access to DSL or Cable Internet. Connectivity is reliable but there can be outages of a day or less. read more

Tried to find out prices and if I am in the WOW Air-Pipe service area. I called on a Monday in the morning. Was told I would be called back later - maybe a couple of hours- when they determined if I could receive service. By the end of the day, I had not received a call back. I called again to check up and was told it would take 2 days to get back to me. I called back on Wednesday when I had still not heard back - I was informed that they only have ONE employee who determines availability and returns calls to set up service. The lady informed me that the ONE employee was still working on orders from LAST WEEK and it would be at least another 2 days before I heard back. I was given excuses as to why they are so far behind and that it's just too bad that I want to know if I can get service. She said I just need to wait until they have time to get to me. Such poor customer service BEFORE the sale, what will you get after you install their product? read more

Air Pipe is what your stuck with when there are no other options --in the same manner dog poo gets stuck to your shoes at the local dog park. Seems it can't be avoided. The first month with these inept "Providers" went okay. Not great but we were able to watch Netflix and do internet research from time to time. Within a short period of time, nothing was moving. Our complaints led to being inticed into an upgrade.They gave us a four day trial just to prove themselves. It was GREAT!! Netflix on the tv and three other computers worked seamlessly. Then we locked in to the insane amount of $100 a month. WE WERE DUPED. As soon as they got what they wanted, we got the shaft. Only one device would work at a time. The last time I called to complain they spewed out a lame excuse and explanation of how I was to think of the internet provision as a line of water spigots, and one is more open than the otheres so you get more power there? WHAT? When I reitterated that before the upgrade we were able to use the tv and two computers (periodically)...they didn't hear me. So, I thanked them for nothing and hung up. Now, we downgraded and golly aunt Bee, the buffering is constant for probably 80% of the time WITH ONE COMPUTER IN USE. These guys are a total joke and you will save your own sanity by not choosing these fools. I'm afraid it's too late for me. They are being dropped like a hot potatoe and they can go take a nice barefoot walk in the doggie park. ARG!!!! read more

I had airpipe for over 3 years. At the time it was the only decent option for internet at my rural home. Satellite and cellular was not an option. The service was decent at best when it was running optimally. Horrible for modern day internet uses (streaming video and media). I paid for the fastest available internet at 1meg. During the summer months I might see that speed. But one of their largest problems was keeping the service up and running in the winter. They have to rely on dishes on mountain tops and they haven't figured out a way to keep the ice off of them. There were times when the service would be down for days on end waiting for them to go up and clear the ice. I guess that's not all their fault but I would think they would try everything in their power to try and stop the issue. Next they have invested so much into the motorola technology they have missed the boat on new upcoming wireless tech that would get speeds closer to broadband. All in all if you aren't a heavy internet user but would still like a snappier experience then satellite then go for it. But if you like videos at all don't bother. The day century link called and told me they finally reached my area was one of my happier days. Sad I know. read more
