For American standards, I would consider the hotel similar to a Motel 6. It had the small, traditional European feel, but at the same time, quite run down. I can't remember the last time I had to use a real key to get into my room.
I had a double room, which was small, but included a private bath, that looked a bit newer. The wallpaper was a bit dingy and stained, but the furniture had a newer IKEA type feel. The sheet/duvet over the comforter/blanket was new, but the inside blanket looked to be 30+ years old. I must say housekeeping was prompt and did a good job. Good enough for me to leave a 5 euro tip.
The hotel is family owned (and operated, I believe) and appears to be a remodeled apartment complex. There is a 'bar' in the lobby. They have two beers on tap and a few bottles of liquor. Its open as long as there is an attendant at the from desk. Breakfast is available for 9 euros. It's a typical, but limited European style breakfast buffet, including lunch meats, cheese, cereal, eggs, juice, etc. I personally don't think it was worst 9 euros, unless you just wanted the convenience.
The location was good, a short walk from shopping centers and bus/train lines.
My biggest complaint was a lack of elevator. If there was one, it was not accessible from my room, so getting my luggage up the stairs to my room was quite a pain.
Intenet is avialable for a fee, but doesn't work in all areas of the hotel. The staff seemed to be accomodating to move rooms if this was an issue though.
The price was fair, but the stained hallways and floors, and the overall run down feel made me decide to not stay there again. read more
