There are restaurants, movie theaters, shopping, entertainment, venues, etc. You really don't have to leave KATY to do much of anything. Everything that you may need is here I can remember when Mason Road had no businesses from I 10 to Morton Ranch and now it's grown and businesses on both sides that been developed. At the time when I moved here Martin ranch stopped at Mason Road. It didn't go all the way through like I did now that was a great improvement. Also 99 stopped at I10 and now it goes almost around the whole city. You will enjoy your time here when you visit or if you live here.

An off duty Katy police officer showed up to the scene of an accident involving who I believe to be…read morehis father in-law on yesterday, and while I was only the passenger in the vehicle at fault he approached me with his wife in an extremely rude/hostile manner demanding information from me. When I refused, he pulls his wallet out to show me his Katy Police identification card (which did not sway my decision to stay out of the investigation proces) and then tells me to "Go F**k yourself" while his wife continued being disrespectful in her arm sling. By far one of the most unprofessional officers I've ever seen in 35yrs on this planet. Fortunately Waller County PD ( the actual police office's who responded to the call) stepped in to diffuse what should have never been a situation with me "a passenge." Horrible hot heads with guns and badges in Katy. I'm a veteran with an honorable discharge who did not deserve to be treated the way I was by an off duty public servant. I will continue pressing this issue with the Mayor's office until he realizes that there's a right and wrong way to handle situations. Poor representation for his entire department when he was just there as a family member of the uninjured real estate agent. Be prepared for a departmental investigation because I'm now going to press the issue all the way to the governor if need be.

She offered no assistance to my matter and only wasted my time, putting a life at risk. Do not expect urgency/assistance in Katy, TX if she answers the phone. Call your neighbor.

But that could be said about this one too, a lot of the time. This is the highway that goes from downtown Houston all the way out to Katy. After it passes Katy, it just becomes Interstate 10, crossing the wilderness and the nothingness to San Antonio, and then even more wilderness to El Paso. You're less in luck if you're heading east out of downtown instead of on the Katy Freeway, as you will see some of the most horrific industry and polluting factories and fiery petrochemical plants, throughout both Texas and Louisiana along Interstate 10. But the Katy Freeway section is quite nice. New, clean, wide, paved well... except for one scary ass thing: The surface gets really nasty when it's wet, which is a big problem, but the rest of the time it's working well. As in, they've made it wide enough and safe enough that it feels a lot more relaxing to drive now - even in traffic - than the vast majority of the highways in the Houston area, and in major cities in Texas, especially the ones that haven't yet been widened and feel like death traps, such as 45 North and especially 69 or perhaps 45 South, until you get out into the suburbs. Bae tells me it took a long time to make it so, though. A long time. Like Boston Big Dig long time. Like, according to the goddess herself, 15 years or so. I'm glad I wasn't here then doe. Now if they can just make their surface less slippery in rain, they will get my reclusive, seducive, elusive five star.

Although you will pay tolls, you can get to where you need to go a lot faster than fighting the rush hour traffic in the major thorofares. Barbie, who has worked as a lawyer on and off for a few years, has had iffy experiences with them also. Katy is weird. A burb of Houston, and yet... It does have definitely a small town mentality and they do seem to be often looking for outsiders to mess with, if you know what I mean. I look like an outsider and I don't have a Katy address so it's probably why I got messed with. At least I wasn't arrested. Then again I didn't do anything at all.

Texas Post office has its own system! We needed new keys for our mail box as we just moved from CA…read moreand it s a 5 week wait and $50 non refundable. Then any mail forwarded is sent to a different post office further away that is a not full service. It's a disaster to get mail! Staff was friendly and joked with us that Texas mail is snail mail here.

I told them I drove 25 min and it was 30 seconds after 4:30 and they didn't care. I get it if it was a couple min past 4:30 or more but 30 seconds... come on guys where's the passion to serve. I called again 2 days later, and got the same result. A week later I got a call that said I need to come down and fill out a form. This all of course gets zero stars. I caught an employee at the mailbox one day and asked her if she could open our box. After grumbling she was on lunch break she unhappily opened it up. This gets 1 star. My wife went to the mailbox when a delivery person was there, and asked if she could get our mail. He gave it to her, and said he could delivery it to our house if we let him know. Two days later he came to our house, delivered our mail, and gave us new keys. I never did have time to go down and fill out a form. THANK YOU Joe. You should run the place.
