Its' very loud to where you'll get a headache from the SCREAMING, NON-STOP. The head librarian is horrible. No common sense. The other librarians are rude too. They allowed a guy in the library with bags of weed out on the table where he's destroying the computers by down loading malware gaming. They don't care. He said he was giving them weed, that's why whenever he came in, they'd run in back and bring out hand full of treats for him. He even vaped in library and they did nothing. His name is Jarrett, white guy with blonde hair and good friends of librarians Jen, Charlie (a woman Liberian) and a few others. He even held up bags of weed at the front desk with Jen THEY SHOULD BE FIRED! AND HE SHOULD BE ARRESTED. IF YOU SEE HIM, GO RIGHT NEXT DOOR AND TELL THE CONSTABLES. KIDS SHOULDN'T SEE OR SMELL WEED, ESTPECIALLY IN THE LIBRARY. PLUS, what's also gross is the librarians allow people to eat in the library. There's an Asian woman who comes in and will sit by other people and take out a bag of "CHOMPIE FOOD" its disgusting. she does it the whole time she's at the library. I've NEVER been to a public library that allows weed to be smoked / sold and that allows people to CHOP ON FOOD FOR HOURS. I contacted the department according to the protocol I had been given after my minimally verbal nephew, a Katy ISD special education student with significant disabilities, refused to exit his school bus. The responding sergeant did not appear prepared to use a disability-informed approach. Instead of helping de-escalate the situation, he spoke to me in a judgmental and confrontational manner, repeatedly referred to my nephew as my "son" after being told that I am his aunt and that his parents are deceased, and questioned why I had briefly stepped inside to attend a scheduled appointment concerning my nephew's disability benefits. Most concerning, the sergeant told me that either he would remove my nephew or I would, and that "either way, it was not going to look nice." He pointed toward his duty belt while discussing using its equipment or handcuffs because he did not want anyone to get hurt. My nephew was refusing to transition, but he was not attacking anyone at that time. I entered the bus after receiving permission, spoke to my nephew calmly, negotiated with him, and safely brought him inside within minutes. No physical force, restraints, or police intervention was necessary. When I later called the department to ask how to submit a formal complaint, I was given the runaround and told to wait for someone to contact me. The department's own website says certain complaints must be filed within 15 days, yet its complaint-form link is unclear and difficult to access. Families of students with disabilities deserve officers trained in communication, patience, de-escalation, and respectful treatment. I have submitted a formal written complaint and hope Katy ISD investigates this incident seriously, improves its complaint process, and establishes a clear, disability-informed response protocol.

But that could be said about this one too, a lot of the time. This is the highway that goes from downtown Houston all the way out to Katy. After it passes Katy, it just becomes Interstate 10, crossing the wilderness and the nothingness to San Antonio, and then even more wilderness to El Paso. You're less in luck if you're heading east out of downtown instead of on the Katy Freeway, as you will see some of the most horrific industry and polluting factories and fiery petrochemical plants, throughout both Texas and Louisiana along Interstate 10. But the Katy Freeway section is quite nice. New, clean, wide, paved well... except for one scary ass thing: The surface gets really nasty when it's wet, which is a big problem, but the rest of the time it's working well. As in, they've made it wide enough and safe enough that it feels a lot more relaxing to drive now - even in traffic - than the vast majority of the highways in the Houston area, and in major cities in Texas, especially the ones that haven't yet been widened and feel like death traps, such as 45 North and especially 69 or perhaps 45 South, until you get out into the suburbs. Bae tells me it took a long time to make it so, though. A long time. Like Boston Big Dig long time. Like, according to the goddess herself, 15 years or so. I'm glad I wasn't here then doe. Now if they can just make their surface less slippery in rain, they will get my reclusive, seducive, elusive five star.
