I set up auto billing on a credit card. After the first bill I see an $8 service charge. I try and…read morelog in to change it and am unable to enter and receive this message "Access to www.houstonwaterbills.houstontx.gov was denied. You don't have authorization to view this page." I verified it was the correct site and tried again. Same result. I went to chat and asked to change payment method. After 7 minutes of verification they said I they could not change payment method and said to call the main number for help. I called and said I wanted to change payment method. Again, after all kinds of verification I was told I had to change it online. After trying several times with the agent online I was told the site was down and to try back later. I guess when you are the only game in town then customer service really does not matter.

Another day, another boil notice from the City of Houston. Yet again, the City of Houston has…read moredropped the ball, and can't provide Texas' largest city with clean, safe drinking water. Apparently the pumping station had a power failure (thanks Ercot) and then the backup generator failed. Nobody seemed to notice until it was too late, and water pressures went below a safe threshold. Remember during Snowvid in 2021, Valentine's Day, Winter Storm Uri, when they couldn't keep the taps flowing? Yea, that sucked, and people died. Remember in 2020 when a pipe burst, and they had a boil notice for the entire city back then too? Get your act together. The trust that the public has in your water utility is going down the drain. I'd drill a private well in my backyard if they'd let me, but I don't think that's feasible. In the mean time, we're going to the store to get more bottled water, and boiling everything that comes out of the tap.

If you trampling through downtown streets, you'll see signs also say Chinatown. That is the Old Chinatown. In late 1980's, merchants moved from Old Chinatown to Bellaire Blvd settled as we see today. There are only few businesses kept their original name and original storefront from that time. You can find Tak Sing Hong 德信行 and Yuan Ten Restaurant 雲天烧腊麵家 at Metropole Center and Le Lai Restaurant 東江菜館 at Dynasty Plaza. People often use Dun Huang Plaza as Houston Chinatown. Granted, it is the largest and busiest shopping mall in Chinatown from dusk to dawn. In foodie scenes, you can say Chinatown consists of all restaurants on Bellaire Blvd from South Gessner To Beltway. Anything beyond that is called Little Saigon or Asiatown. Based on Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau tour book, Chinatown extends pass Beltway to Dairy Ashford Road in the west and to Fondren in the east on Bellaire. If you live in Houston for a while, you probably know Chinatown is one of the 88 Super Neighborhoods in Houston. This 2.37 square mile of land covers from Westpark in the north down to Beechnut and South Gesner from the east to Beltway in the west. Houston Chinatown is a fun place to be. No wonder USA Today named it one of the top 10 Chinatown in United States (in 2014).

The staff is always so informative and kind, they actually treat you like family...yes family! Angel in the 2nd floor receptionist was by far my most favorite person because he assisted me in every process that I came to do, which at the end it was a total of at least 10 different procedures. From the get-go when I walked in with my parents and the guard from the metal detector saw my dad wearing a heart vest, he asked him how old he was and right away we were given the VIP treatment! Since I accidentally made an appointment for the wrong procedure I asked if my dad could take it since he needed to renew his Mexican passport *which I originally wanted to apply for myself. But because I also had my mother, both my parents were able to renew all different documents and I was given the correct information to obtain my dual citizenship, Mrs Sylvia from the 2nd floor cut me some slack and asked to come back Monday @ 8:30am. Monday came and I arrived on time, Sylvia was very professional and fast with the process. Long story short after 4 hours I left with my passport and my matricula. The entire process is well organized and fast, their staff definitely made my two visits pleasant. I just wish more government agencies could learn from this office on how to provide great customer service and simply be more sympathetic towards people. Thank you for such a wonderful experience especially when I was bringing my parents!
