Located 15 miles Outside of Dayton, Ohio is the absolute BEST FREE Museum that I have ever been too. Just now getting able to share, I took over 400 photos and have been editing to narrow it down some...It took Tony and over 5 hrs to tour this self paced amazing exhibit and still can't believe it's free!!! So is the Parking and the WI-FI and there are plenty of staff around to answer questions. Some planes you get to climb into like a huge cargo plane and several Presidential Retired Planes belonging to Pesident Eisenhower and Johnson. There are Missles, Bombs and more. Uniforms and Astronaut suits, medals, awards and more. Plenty of bathrooms mixed around the 4 huge hangers. If in the area definitely go, if not then plan to go. I am happy we found this AMAZING LOCATION!!!

This museum is downright amazing. To be anywhere near Dayton and to miss it would be a sin. Dayton is very fortunate to have this national historic treasure. I am fortunate that I grew up in Kettering with a Father who appreciated this museum and would regularly take me on visits. It started in 1971 as a young boy when we went to the Museum's dedication and got to hear President Nixon speak. I even remember shaking the President's hand after the dedication. I no longer live in Ohio but when we visit, I make sure to take my family. I recently visited the WWII Museum in New Orleans and found it disappointing, overpriced and overrated. The Smithsonian Air & Space Museum is good, but this one ranks number one in comparison with the quantity of national treasures. As you wind past the aircraft, you're met with some national treasures. One of the main ones that you see (and arguably the most famous plane in the main hangar) is Bosckscar--the aircraft that ended world war II by dropping the second nuclear weapon ever used in combat. You'll also see the Dolittle Raider's exhibit, complete with their goblets; and the stories of the raiders that commemorate the raid. The museum takes you through aviation history from the perspective of the Air Force so there is a lot of war history. The World War II section has always been my favorite. Another favorite is the Presidentail area in the last building with all of the Air Force One's. You can walk through JFK's Air Force One - the very one that Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as President. What is most impressive is the insane number of planes on display in each of the four huge hangars. Including a B2 Stealth bomber. If this is your first visit to the museum, you need to plan an entire day or days to see it all. One piece of advice, get there early if you want to take pictures of the aircraft, before the crowds arrive! This has to be the best museum in the USA and its in Dayton, Ohio - the birthplace of aviation.

Great museum with a substantial amount of things to see! Best part is that admission is FREE! Walking through the whole museum can easily take 2-3 hours. We loved seeing all the planes and learning more about US history. We were lucky we came right before they had to close for the stay at home order. Highly encourage everyone to check it out once they re-open!

My field trip was so fun! it was great besides the incredible heat

It was so fun me and my friends loved it so did my friend's mom other than other than all the fun stuff it was kind a hot but I loved learning about John F. Kennedy and Franklin Roosevelt I thought it was cool that his legs were paralyzed but I thought it was also sad I don't know why he wanted to hide that his legs were paralyzed from the US maybe because they didn't want to think he was weak

Great museum if you are an aviation buff, located in Riverside, Ohio, admission is free, open 9:00-5:00 daily. Wright-Patterson AFB.

Great place to take your kids if in the area does not cost anything to enter and there is a lot to see there

WOW! This is a must see for anyone! And it's FREE! Pack a lunch as they have beautiful picnic grounds in the shade! No food or water allowed to come in but they have a few cafes that have sandwiches and drinks. So many things to see! You definitely need more than 1 day. It starts with the beginning of flights to the space shuttle and beyond! Many planes you can walk through!

Magnificent. I wish I had better words to describe what's going on here. A solid tribute to America's airmen.

Although small, they have a complete allosaurus, mastodon, giant sloth, giant beaver and much, much more. You can get close up to the exhibits. They also have a great display of Ordovician fossils with descriptions. You can find many birds and other small mammal specimens native to Indiana. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. They offer tours and programs for kids as well. Nicole was our guide and she was engaged and had a passion for the museum. They have a small gift shop with educational items. If you pass through Richmond, Indiana, this needs to be in your to do list. What a great experience and opportunity to see world class specimens.

I think every corner is utilized in a learning experience. They have reptiles too! Something worth looking into are the 'trail talks' the museum offers during warmer weather. My kids will not stop talking about the fossils they collected while on a trail talk lead by two Earlham students. So much fun, but worth wearing the right gear and packing water. *Yes, you do need to wear a mask and show your vaccination card to enter the museum. It is on campus, and therefore abides by protocol of trying to keep campus as safe as possible for everyone.

Aimed at single-digits ages, and Kid K felt a little old I think. She found stuff to do, but a quieter day with not so many little kids would have been more fun for her. Still, she did some of the science things, and we went to the indoor zoo- very cool, very cute, very clean. They had a few scheduled special activities during the day but we missed them. There were a lot of staff around helping and keeping an eye on things, which is always good. Multiple discounts, so check for those. Prices are reasonable even without them. Parking was packed on a busy day, but we found a spot. It's in a big park so no other crowded places nearby. A great draw for the area.

Lots of spaces to wander thru, lots of eye catching displays to keep you entertained and elevate use of your brain. The waterway is one of may favorite parts of the museum and glad it's still up and running 20+ years later. We actually went to watch the Mesmerica 360 show in the dome theater. That was rather mundane to me but that's not the fault of the museum. My biggest peeve of the visit was seeing the us flag was still being masted when it is in tatters. I posted in my 'check in' and I will post again here in my review that it's time to retire this flag and replace with a fresh replacement. Whomever is in charge of the grounds here should be embarrassed. Please do better.
