When he was finished he showed me before and after pictures of each and every vent he cleaned, and in addition to horrific amounts of disgusting, thick gray dust, I actually recognized a lot of things that had gotten lost over the years by falling into the registers! I really needed my dryer vent cleaned - the dryer was taking two full cycles to dry a load of laundry, so I called Lowe's and they fit me in the very next afternoon. They sent Alex to my house, and he was right on time. Friendly, informative, Alex got right down to business cleaning my very clogged vent. He also showed me pictures of the inside of the duct connecting the vent to the outside of my house, and he speculated that the last company to "clean" the vent broke the duct (he showed me the defect before he began the task of cleaning the vent/duct. I could hear the huge amounts of debris being sucked into Alex's shopvac. He was conscientious about not wearing shoes in the house, cleaning up any bits and pieces in my laundry room, and was just sincerely pleasant and kind. Black soot covered walls, ceilings, upholstery, linens, and furniture in nearly every room. The damage was catastrophic. We had to go through our homeowners insurance because the cleanup costs exceeded $60,000. The restoration required professional soot remediation, sealing and repainting walls, cleaning all upholstery and fabrics, and extensive cleaning throughout the entire home. What made this even worse was the company's response afterward. They would not provide the business owner's information or their business insurance information, and they took absolutely no responsibility for the damage caused by their work.
