Our tech, Logan, arrived at 0900 which was good for me and was at the house for about an hour. He was knowledgeable, respectful and put up with my questions. This was my first service with Holland and I will plan to use them again in the future, at least for my annual service.

It was nice to speak with owner Gary initially. He offered a great price on the A/C! However,…read moreissues arose immediately due to inexperienced installers. I replaced the A/C with a larger unit, but the original maintained a more stable temperature than this new one. The day after installation, I called him in the morning because my house was at 61 degrees. He told me to turn my heater up to 85 degrees on all levels and wait an hour, but instead of increasing, the temperature went down. He could send someone in a week or so. My installer was on vacation. He didn't seem to believe me until I showed him the temperature with my portable heater. He then sent someone over, who said he needed to set it up, as it looked like it wasn't programmed. The installers left dirty handprints on the walls both inside and outside. I don't usually complain, but when someone is rude and condescending, it's important to let others know who they are dealing with. Oh one last thing. He told me I needed to have a damper replaced and he'd send me a quote. 6 weeks later I still hadn't received quote so I asked again. He sent one. See for yourself how he treats his customers. Mind you- brand new handler and outside unit. Quote $2,100 to install a $59 part. I called several other A/C installers and they said anywhere from 100-150 to do the same thing.

FLASHBACK: About a year ago, our AC unit broke, and a different company came out to diagnose the problem. They said that there was something clogged, but there was nothing they could do about it, and so we should manually remove the water from the drain pan whenever the air conditioner stopped (which in the summer is about three or four times a day). We got used to it, but that's pretty annoying. FAST FORWARD: Fast forward to yesterday, with our air conditioner broke and our little drain pan fix did not work. The guys from Big Chill made it to our house around 6:30 PM last night, and it was clear that they had already worked a full day and were tired. There were both polite and curt if that's possible, eager to get in and solve our problem without the small talk. Within 30 minutes, they had it diagnosed and fixed the problem that caused our air-conditioner to kick back on. In addition to solving the immediate need of getting our airflow going, they told us that we had a refrigerant leak and would need a new coil put in that would have to be shipped from the manufacturer. Our first summer night that didn't require a 2am wake-up-and-drain-the-unit call was beautiful! I've gotten back hours of my life knowing that I don't have to drain that unit anymore because of the knowledge and willingness to actually do the job that this team has! I mean, yeah, the guys who came to our house were focused on the issue and didn't make me "feel warm and fuzzy," but I would rather work with them every day than to deal with a chatty a/c tech who doesn't fix the problem. The cherry on top: Well, it is not even 8:30 AM the next day, and a lady from Big Chill called us to let us know that they had talked to the manufacturer already, but the coils need to be shipped, and it would be another day or two before we receive that piece. WHAT? They left our house at 7:30 PM last night, and barely 12 hours later, they have already researched the next steps of our issue and given us an update. Talk about great service. I feel like other companies would not have felt the urgency to solve the problem that Big Chill does. It made me feel like they really care about helping us with our problem, and that they care about being excellent and efficient in meeting their customers' needs. I would definitely recommend them to anybody who needs to have the air conditioner fixed!

Said that it was "normal" for the a/c to NEVER cut off and for the thermostat to always read higher than the setting it is on. Uhm, what?? He did not do any diagnostics and did not even look at the outside unit. When I told him that another company said our compressors were going bad a few months ago, he just scoffed and didn't even check them. He was only here for 30 minutes and was in such a rush to leave, he left all his paperwork and left our garage open without even saying anything. The a/c still is not working.
