If you are a female, if possible have a man with you. The tech who came to my house was RUDE that I ended up texting my husband to come home to deal with him.
We had been having an issue with our AC on and off for a couple months. Our regular AC guy was kinda stumped so I thought I would see about getting a second opinion. The person who came to our house took a look at the inside unit and told me I needed to have my ducts cleaned, my coils pulled out and cleaned, a UV light installed on the inside unit (for $595.00) and that was BEFORE he would tackle whatever was going on with the outside unit. During this process he was telling me what all wrong with unit and at one I asked him a question, "The way you are describing what is going on, we should be having this problem all the time then?" His answer, and I quote exactly, "When the big yellow ball in the sky gets higher, it gets hotter." At that point that is when I texted my husband and told him to come home from work, as I was not dealing with the unprofessional and rude person.
He then went outside to diagnose whatever was going on with the outside unit. He came back in a few minutes later to tell me that the system was overcharged on coolant. That "someone added too much as an attempt to fix whatever was going on". I told him no one has added coolant to the system. We had the entire system put in 9 years ago, and since then it has ran perfectly. We had a yearly check with our regular guy, and have never added coolant. He actually argued with me over the fact that I had to be wrong about what had been done to my own AC unit.
Not too much longer after that my husband came home and we both went outside to watch this person as now he has completely lost our trust. My husband told him that the night before he had gone to the local HVAC store and purchased a thermostat and installed it. He was surprised that 1. They sold him the thermostat. 2. My husband had installed it correctly. That time my husband got to see a bit of the attitude that I had been dealing with. My husband informed him that he was an IT person, and knew how to read a manual. Upshot was we paid ($127.00) this rude person to come to our house, not even get a diagnosis out of him other than we need to have our coils cleaned, with the emphatic suggestion that we needed our ducts cleaned at the same time. Again, all that before they would touch the outside unit. He left.
We called our regular guy, asked about the coils, set an apt for 8 am the next morning. He came, did a pull and clean on the coils, checked everything else out, and left by about 10. OH, and he only charged $215.00. And he SHOWED me, my ducts were fine.
I did place a call to the company, and was told that someone higher up NEEDED to hear this, and would I be home for them to call me right back. I have yet to hear from them, which is why I am writing this review. read more
