Thompson via their website. (Their website is very nicely done and evokes a professionalism borne out in their services). I received a written proposal via email the following day, and the work was completed within 2 weeks. They were very responsive by email, even at odd hours, and worked with our contractor to make sure they performed the necessary survey (and nothing unnecessary). Very pleased with the service we received, mahalo!

The care taken to make sure the angles were correct for proper drainage was great. They stayed later to complete it and make sure it was done right and the area was clean and spotless. The price was very reasonable and we are very pleased with how it turned out. On budget and on time. The drain has worked flawlessly. Other contractors at the house doing other jobs for us have commented on the skillful way it was designed and done. Nick and his team are top notch. Solid, hard working, dependable, which can be hard to find these days. We look forward to having Nick do other work for us. Do not hesitate to call him for any concrete project. You will be glad you did.

Eli rebuilt a retaining wall adjacent to a stairwell on our property. He responded to our inquiry…read morequickly, came by that same day to give us an estimate, and started working on the wall right away. He was able to finish it in two days--way faster than we had expected! As far as we can tell, the workmanship is good and Eli has assured us he will come fix it for free if there are any issues down the road, so I'll update this review if anything like that happens. The only downside was that communication wasn't great. Eli gave us an initial quote after he came by to look at the wall, which included a provision that we wouldn't pay until the project was completed and we were satisfied. He said he needed us to accept or reject right away. Since the price was slightly less than other quotes we'd gotten and he seemed confident, we accepted. A few hours later, he started taking the original wall down. (We were thrilled he'd started same day!) At that point, he said that he forgot to quote us for materials, so we needed to pay an extra $900. We felt like we had no choice but agree since the wall was partially taken down and if we said no, we'd have a landslide that prevented us from entering our house the next time it rained. So we agreed, figuring that at least we had a guarantee the wall would be fixed before we paid. The next morning, he told us we needed to pay several thousand upfront because he needed it to buy the materials. Again, we didn't have a choice but to agree because the original wall was partially down. Ultimately, the project was completed quickly, and for the revised price. There weren't any other "surprises." Eli was friendly and very diligent. The wall looks great. However, we didn't appreciate the bait-and-switch. I'm not sure if the issue was due to the language barrier, or if he just told us what we wanted to hear initially and then realized it wasn't feasible. Overall, we're happy with the quality of the work, but would recommend getting quotes in writing in the future.

After that, the appointment was worse - they didn't have the right filters available, and said they would call back when they had them - I tried one month and two months later because I never heard back and they had no idea what I was talking about. They found two UV lightbulbs out in the a/c system and said for another $300 they could come back and replace them - I thought it was excessive, but said fine. They never called back, we called to set something up, and they still never called back. They must have so much business that they can't be bothered to return my calls. I reward great service and have faced other companies that are lacking, but this one takes the cake. BE WARNED!
