Went online to schedule an appointment after surfing their website which looked great! Someone contacted me within the day to schedule a date and time. A couple days prior to appt she called to remind me and gave some info on where to park and where to check in. Appointment went smoothly - met with sales manager, Jeffrey Fishman, and he really knows how to explain things, address concerns, follow up on current info, takes the time to make sure all our questions are answered satisfactorily. He has been very patient with us in securing the right space for Dad and checks back with us on any changes we should be aware of. This branch of the Plaza is beautiful, spacious, very clean and I love the wall to recognize military veterans with their pictures and service. The rooms are a nice size, nicely appointed and the shared rooms are spacious with a nice little entry area as a sitting room. Plenty of things for them to do with a shuttle service for excursions and also covered parking for residents. The residents all looked happy and content, the overall vibe was positive from staff and the dining area with the chef's menu was outstanding! We haven't made a decision yet because Dad needs to see the place for himself, but we wanted to write this review because of the way we have been respected during this difficult process of entrusting Dad to others and the kindness of Jeffrey Fishman.

I asked a young lady who was just standing outside of the front desk to take a picture and she looked at me and said she was busy...what, standing around??? So she asked the lady behind the desk who was busy answering the phones and assisting a couple at the front desk and that lady replied she was busy at the moment. The young lady then said she would take our picture...made us feel uncomfortable and not wanted around! We were thinking of maybe staying there in a few more years, but now we may have to think about it.

There is a clear pattern of inconsistency, favoritism, and lack of accountability. Expectations are not applied evenly, and decisions often appear biased rather than based on performance or professionalism. This creates an environment that feels disorganized and, at times, unfair. More importantly, there is a noticeable gap in leadership. Effective supervisors should provide clear communication, support their staff, and handle concerns with professionalism. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. Questions are often dismissed, feedback is not handled constructively, and there is little effort to ensure a cohesive or respectful workplace. I strongly encourage upper management to take a closer look at how this department is being run. With the right leadership, this could be a much more productive and positive environment--but as it stands, the supervision is a major issue.

My dad went in for rehab, but less than 24 hours later, I made them call 911, because he had a respiratory issue, & they left him like that overnight....pure negligence- even the firefighter said so! Needless to say, he was back in the hospital, then in hospice, then passed away a month later. I always wonder if he would still be alive if they had called 911 as soon as it happened.

After grandpa recovered from a mega life event/ illness, I informed grandpa's inpatient medical team that we'd like hospice care with Malama Ola and they quickly assisted us with coordinating care with them. I am VERY GRATEFUL for everyone at Malama Ola for taking EXCEPTIONAL care of grandpa, myself and my family during our short encounter with them. Everyone was truly wonderful. So many people to be thankful for (please forgive me if I don't remember everyone's names, there were MANY phone calls throughout grandpa's care and transition). But thank you to Marche (our patient advocate), Christian (our admitting nurse), Danny (our spiritual counselor who played his lovely guitar for grandpa), Jay (our social worker), Jorge (our nurse aid), and Brad (our LPN). And everyone and anyone who may have checked in on grandpa but I missed. Truly thankful for each and everyone one of you, and for all you do. Ultimately, we decided to go with Malama Ola based on their quick response, willingness to answer questions before signing anything, and unique approach to Hospice Care. Our main point of contact was Marchè. She was highly responsive, encouraging, and such a pleasure to work with, considering the reality that we were living in. She followed up with individuals on the team and communicated with our family throughout the process. The one concern I had beforehand was feeling like a "number on a roster."
