Subsequently, we learned that Mr. Segall accepted offers from multiple buyers simultaneously and obviously went with the one that suited him and the seller best. This was done with zero regard for the time and money we invested in closing this deal. Completely unprofessional, completely dishonest, and completely not worth your time.

However, when I walked around the apartment, it was not what I expected--not because the pictures weren't accurate, but the layout of the the apartment and how all the rooms connect to one another is difficult to understand with static pictures of each room. Since my husband could not be there (due to work), I asked Gloria if I could take video and walk through the entirety of the space. She asked me, "weren't my pictures enough? I don't want those posted elsewhere." I reassured her I wouldn't; I told her that I can't make a decision without my husband. And so she let me, which I appreciated. Later that evening, our other application was accepted, and we got the other apartment. Gloria followed up in the morning, asking if I still wanted an application. Gloria: Hello Jaclyn. I am following up with you with reference to the apt you saw yesterday on ****** Ave. Are you interested in applying? --Gloria Me: Good morning, Gloria! My husband and I ended up closing the deal on another apartment last night. With that, we won't be applying for the apartment on ****** avenue. Thank you! Gloria: Really! Strange... I hope you don't use the video you took of my apt. I hope you're not one of those shoppers who say they are looking for an apt, take videos and then post them online. You seemed like an honest person. Me: I don't care for your passive aggression and paranoia. My husband wasn't there to see the layout of the apartment, because it's hard to get a sense of the space based on the photos. If perhaps you had a provided a floor plan there would be no need for me to take the video. You're rude to imply that I may dishonest just because I'm not interested in the apartment. Good luck with your search for an "honest" tenant. --- Typos aside, my response is my review of this agent. While I can understand that there protections she needs to be mindful of, she was unprofessional in her manner of taking those precautions. AKA - how fast apartments move off the market in NYC (as I learned the hard way). If you don't act fast, the apartment you want is gone. A New York Moment is when things just line up perfectly. This is how I describe my experience working with David at Lang. I had contacted him about a listing and when he wrote back to me, it was already in contract with someone else (I told you - these things go fast!). A few days later, on a Sunday, he emails me out of the blue with a listing saying that apartment was just getting back on the market. Did I want to see it? Of course! So because I knew first hand how fast things go, on a Sunday night, last minute David met me to show me this listing. I saw my 27th (yes...27. That's how fast apartments go in NYC) apartment. And took it on the spot. Since I'm self employed, David walked me through exactly what extra/other paperwork I would need to show my qualifications for the apartment. He was super communicative with me throughout the whole process - texts and emails were answered surprisingly fast. I never felt like I was bothering him with questions or requests. He worked with me to move up the start date of my lease and facilitated getting me in touch with the super to get keys in (my) hand 48 hours after signing my lease. It was truly a whirlwind experience, but in moments of unease he assured me he was with me every step of the way, and even ended an email with how excited he was for me. I highly recommend working with David. He's enthusiastic, and clearly a people person. He leveled with me when the moment called for it and brought joy to the experience.

Fortunately, we had dated photos of the apartment showing it was in the same shape as when we moved in a few years prior, and we were able to get most of our deposit back after a lot of back and forth. If you're a tenant in one of their buildings, I highly recommend documenting the condition of the apartment when you move in (missing screens in windows, small chips or scrapes, etc.). Otherwise, they will make every effort to keep your security deposit.
